Yeah, that's pretty much true. My friend made me watch Porco Rosso, though, and I didn't care for that way too much.

I fell asleep during nausicaa. I loved totoro/mononoke/spirited away though. Castle in the sky and howl's moving castle were ok too. Also who's that handsome devil in WE's post?

For ones that have eroge, just check bakabt. More than half of anime based on VN eroges are hentai. There are a lot of good plot-VNs (has eroge in most cases) but that's off-topic. God damnit another essay, I knew I should have stayed away from this topic. At least I made it shorter by not including a seinen list.
How do you know they have hentai scenes in it,that is not my concern. No you cant since you are one of us and dont worry,i will include it in my next week recommendations. To BHC and victor, since hakoria didnt write a full length essay on explaining why i didnt include K-on in the recommendations,i will give you one. Hakoria said
I know why K-On! is on the list, I'm not fond of slice of life and rich girls having a cup of tea around a table. I don't need the definitions since underrated/overrated discussions is a pain in the ass concept (it's loose as it depends as to what you compare a certain title to), I just mainly wanted to bring up recommendations for seinen/psychological-horror. I disregard anime forums/communities entirely because of such topics (also due to rankings and the fact I disagree with majority's opinion being the definite better opinion) as it's impossible to explain to someone why "K-On!" isn't imo the best anime, and I'm glad you agree with me. He/she still has the right to believe so, so fuck him/her.
There you have it.I agree with BHC on K-on music but thats in the ED songs, not in the show itself and god how i hate yui singing. Its just to high pitch for me.If you recommend people to listen to the songs, then i dont mind but to watch the show, bad idea. Oh yeah, its not rich girls since theres only one despite all of their instruments worth 4 digits.

Do it! :d Seinen manga/anime are clearly superior to everything else. First Season K-on was fun to watch since it was still about music and the budokan goal. Dropped the second season which was a incredibly boring and a huge disappointment - as far as I watched at least (12 episodes or so). If you guys want to read a really smart manga try Liar Game. If you think death note or code geass was about brain and intelligence let me tell you: they can't compare at all. Amateurs!

Ano Hana was an amazing series really catchy OP as well, nice save Victor totally forgot about that series. It was such a nestalgic series, really takes you back to your childhood again. Another series that comes to mind now is Tsubasa Resivour Chronicles, sometimes it can be a bit slow And childish but if you can make it to season 2 that's when it gets amazing. A good movie is also "Time of Eve" I don't usually enjoy movies but this one really struck a chord with me.

"Only Yesterday" was horrible, but I realized it was not targeted for me 1: Only watched it because I also thought "anything ghibli is good", and since then I don't think that. worldeditor11 said

Ah right, only the blonde's rich. I still like using that setting. K-On! had good music and some good extra tracks in the singles CD. Never watched the sequel, movie or whatever else there is though. And dw with the "I knew I should have stayed away from this topic", was pretty much a joke. I wanted to let it get to at least 2 pages so that others could recommend things, that way I could make my own huge list that wouldn't include titles others wanted to bring up themselves. Ennea said

Yus @ superiority of seinen. I remember Liar Game, MAL states I got up to chap 137 (probably got 'up to date' then forgot to continue it. I barely remember it but from some saved pages I have of it, it was one of those intelligent mangas. Will prob re-read it entirely once it's finished instead of getting back to it right away. Gamble Fish had the same vibes as that (got up to chap 49 with this one) but is more gruesome at times and includes ecchi elements. Here's a list of seinen manga now since you brought it up. Some of them aren't well-known (like Attack on Titan or Nijigahara Holograph) compared to how great they are, but eh every media genre has such titles. Hopefully you'll find some interesting ones to try out when you want. (Read up on the synopsis and tags before picking some of these titles, some are at times gore. I recommend them for the plot/epic factor instead. I won't be including titles that are guro, hentai or just way too messed up even if they are great psychological/seinen titles in a sense.) For titles I've finished and recommend (bold -> superior), and yes this is manga-only. 20th century boys (by same mangaka as Monster, don't let the start fool you thinking it'll be shounen, this is an epic (in the sense of Homere's Odyssee) tale of 200+ chaps) 7 billion needles Akumetsu (quite grandiose/exaggerated at times, but I'm putting this up since strangejam recommended it and it was worth it) Alive! (even though it's only 10 chapters, excellent psychological/horror) Blue Heaven Boku to Issho (unique artstyle, comedy/seinen, worth the read though) Bokurano (do not compare it to the anime, the director thought the manga's ending was bad and did his own, which I thought was crap compared to the original. Manga is more messed up in addition to that, a great seinen title) Comics Underground Japan (has some good stories, basically a collection of older classics, even has Cat Soup's manga) CROWS (classic, the rl movies were good as well) Doubt (something like Liar Game as well, mix of battle royale/SAW, started good but eh at end, it's very short though which was probably a wise choice. I couldn't bother with the sequel JUDGE though, dropped at third chapter because manga lacked originality) Fetish (5 chaps, dayum is all I can say) Franken Fran (more 'fun' than seinen, a personal favorite for the mix of comedy/seinen/crazy medical concepts) Gyo (classic horror, don't watch the anime) Hotel (compilation of 5 stories, fabulous ones and the art is amazing, by Boichi) Hyouryuu Kyoushitsu/The Drifting Classroom Ito Junji Kyoufu Manga Collection - Tunnel no Tan (along with many other Ito Junji horror mangas, I don't know how many I've read but he's a favorite alongside Umezu.) Jiraishin (one of my favorites for mystery/seinen) Kaira (4 stories by the artist of NHK and creator of SE: Lain) Kakutoshi no Yume (collection of stories, some are quite fucked up so I'm putting another warning for this one. Still consider it to be nearly a masterpiece here) Kami no Hidarite Akuma no Migite/God’s Left Hand, Devil's Right Hand (another Umezu horror classic collection) Kare no Satsujin Keikaku/His Murder Scheme (one shot) Laon (manwha, I don't know if the last 2 volumes are scanlated by now but I had to buy them. Very good first 4 volumes, and abruptly ends quite badly as well, still worth it for the fact there's Laon) Lore no Mori/Forest of Lore (3 horror stories, quite well done) Narutaru: Shadow Star (Masterpiece, don't compare it to the anime again. Warning again for gore although it's only for some scenes.) NHK ni Youkoso! (Misaki is my angel and Satou my worm) Nijigahara Holograph (Masterpiece, it's one of those titles where you fully get to realize how well it was done by the third re-read and you're still discovering plot elements/hints you weren't expecting at first, because you couldn't know it'd be this good. It's my type of seinen as you can see) Parasyte (horror/seinen, but well done overall) Petshop of horrors (although it lacks the great OST the anime has, the stories are much better and there are more) Pluto (same mangaka as 20th CB/Monster) Ryuguden/Castle of the Dragon (trippy, what the hell it was still great) Skyhigh (and it's sequel Karma, has great stories) Solanin (Oh god, that plot twist. Harsh seinen slice of life) Subarashii Sekai/What A Wonderful World (multiple stories linked together quite wonderfully, and that bear mask is just awesome) Telepathic Wanderers (not a favorite but still very well done so had to mention this one as well) The Breaker (+currently publishing sequel New Waves, fighting/comedy/seinen, some parts of it are shounen cliche as hell (esp in New Waves), and some other parts are seinen as hell while at times gory. I recommend just reading the first title so far) Threads of Time (manwha which completely caught me off guard, ended up really great overall) I'd also recommend Veritas for fighting/seinen although it's not a particularly great title, but how it ends is just horrible, jeez. What the hell. I have the mangas of Mushishi, Monster, and some other animes I've loved but haven't read them myself since their adaptations were already magnificent. They surely would be included in the list though if I had, and bolded. Now currently reading/incomplete list: Oyasumi Punpun (this is THE most depressing slice of life seinen afaik, and one of the most amazing/unique works with the artstyle 'tricks' the mangaka uses meaningfully that I've discovered 2 years ago. The latest volume will be released by the scanlator for Christmas. Supposedly quite a mindfuck trip, some japs even compared it to Eva rebuild #3 in that domain, oh lawd.) The only manga I actually read weekly is One Piece, so this list is short. Oyasumi Punpun is released volume-by-volume, which is a good choice on the mangaka's part. So instead, here's a list of good seinen I either forgot to finish or got up to date and will sometime pick them up again: Ikigami Himizu (I couldn't find the 2nd half earlier this year scanlated, but the first half of the manga is a masterpiece) Mirai Nikki, (it was great but it seems I stopped at chapter 47. It was probably still unfinished, or it disappointed me and I dropped it. I don't know how it compares to the anime, but seeing as how gruesome it would be at times I believe the anime probably toned it down a lot and might not be worth it) AIKI (seinen/harem/ecchi/martial arts, and one of the funnest and best of the genre imo, only got up to chap 50) Übel Blatt (This is very extreme at times, I'm putting a serious extra warning for some of the content.) Berserk (stupid mangaka, decided to wait until it's finished so I can enjoy it fully, if the guy doesn't die beforehand seeing his pace the last years) Billy Bat (current manga by Monster/20th CB/Pluto's mangaka, only up to chapter 30 and I had decided to wait for it to be complete so I can fully enjoy it. Like 20th CB, the start might not make it seem seinen, but shit gets real) Claymore (If you know how horrible the end of the anime is, don't worry, the manga doesn't even have that. Up to chapter 102 here so I don't know how it developed these last years, but it was fantastic so far) Gantz (until it becomes bad, especially the latest arc, eugh. Like with Claymore, the anime took it's own direction and messed it up completely, manga was still good with that arc, but it slowly became bad an arc or two later). Hohzuki Island (I can't remember if I finished this or not. Another one of those which catches you off guard with twists) Kekkaishi (Although this is considered 'shounen', good moments of it are horror/seinen/psychological, so yeah I'm putting this in a seinen list. Just found out it's now complete since the time I put it on hold once I had gotten up to date, will probably fully marathon it this winter or next year. It's both great but sometimes meh overall for the 300ish chaps I've read, can't be more sure but I know I'm glad I picked this up) Livingstone (haven't gotten too far in this, but I believe it'll be great overall.) Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku (More comedy than seinen, but this is the best mahjong related manga out there which Salem introduced me to. It's epicness breaks all scales) Nononono (I still havent finished it since the time I had gotten up to date with the scanlation, slice of life seinen + reverse trap. Someone on irc iirc spoiled me that it gets harsh-ish from where I had gotten up to date then put on hold, ;A; gah) Piano no Mori (up to chap 67, don't know if this is still getting scanlated. Yeah, this is actually labeled as seinen so wth I'm putting it up here since it's a great music manga and worth it. The anime OVA took out scenes and ends quite early, which is why I picked up the manga from the start afterwards.) Sanctuary (cop/seinen-ish, not as good as Jiraishin but it still had caught my interest) History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi (this is considered comedy/shounen, but after where the anime left off the manga becomes more seinen/gruesome especially with certain arcs. Probably my favorite martial arts/comedy-related manga, but it's not a favorite when it comes to seinen. Still deserves a spot for some of those arcs, although the latest one I've read was meh-ish) Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan (This title right here might very well be a full masterpiece once it's finished, it's uniquely amazing once the pace picked up and you understand the world it takes place in. A must-read if you want seinen and something different than the usual manga. Seems like this will get an anime in 2013, but I know nothing of how that'll work out) The Ravages of Time (The best of the best when it comes to adaptations of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story imo. A classic that's still on-going, need to catch up someday since I haven't followed it in some years now) The World Is Mine (111 chaps read, don't know how long ago, but this one is quite hardcore in a sense. Great art-style as well once you get used to it) Zetman (Thanks to SJ again for rec-ing this one, and don't compare it with the anime. I had to drop it after 2 episodes seeing how they were quite ruining the manga so fast. Warning for this one for certain nudity and an almost-rape moment that was somewhat disturbing, + the gore here and there. Excellent story though up to the point I got up-to-date, which was around 160s chapters-wise.) Favorite seinen mangaka (most of their works are in this list) would be Urasawa Naoki (Monster/etc, still a lot left to read by him for me) and Inio Asano (Oyasumi punpun, Nijigahara Holograph, etc, read all of them iirc) for me, and Takahashi Tsutomu (Alive!, Blue Heaven, Jiraishin, Skyhigh series) would be next. Umezu and Ito Junji for seinen/horror, a great collection of titles. The non-bolded titles aren't bad, they were/are all great (imo) but compared to some masterpieces (bolded ones) I still had to put some contrast in the list. There are probably around 20 other titles that I haven't put on my MAL list (since I rarely update it and such these last years) which might be worth recommending, but I'm too lazy to look through all my manga folders to find those. With the titles rec'd here, + the bad seinen, I still have a good amount of 'to read' titles for the genre luckily. Sidooh is probably what I'll be picking up next since it's also complete and by the mangaka Takahashi. Manga has less restrictions which is why this genres has more luck here than on tv. For seinen anime, my previous post includes some great ones in the different lists, so I'm done for now.

Bear in mind,if you cry over watching Clannad and Kanon,do keep a box of tissues near you at all times when watching anohana.Oh yeah, the crying scenes above, prepare yourself to watch a hell alot of those.Actually,i am not really fond of recommending this anime due to one huge problem i found in this show. If Hakoria agree,i will tell you why.

Ano Hana was way too over dramatic that it killed any sympathy I was supposed to feel for the characters. There was just way too much crying that you're just desensitized from even feeling sorry for any of them. It's an okay story, but anything more than the ~10 episodes would have been overkill. Kanon 2006 was fine except I hated the main heroine, Mai had the cooler back story and personality. The main heroine looked like she was 11 and the protagonist looked like he was 25.
