Square Soft riddles!

@musenji  - March 15, 2011, 4:06 a.m.

Riddles are really friggin fun. Verily!

The rules:

  1. One riddle at a time. Whoever correctly guesses the riddle (and has the answer confirmed by the riddler) gets to post the next one. They have 48 hours to do so, then the floor is open. (They can also decline to post, and leave the floor open, but c'mon guys, give it a shot.)

  2. The riddler gets to decide whether to give hints, and whether to answer questions. (i.e. It's not 20 questions folks.)

Something that has worked very well is for guessers to post the reasoning behind their guesses--which gives the riddler a chance to steer them along, in an organic fashion. And it keeps people from just randomly guessing.

  1. Riddles are to be made based on Square Soft games (pre-2003) that were released in America. (The reason for this is to limit the field and keep it relatively accessible to all.)

  2. If you are posting a riddle, pick one game to riddle about, and state it in your initial post.

So, the first riddle. It's from Final Fantasy VII:

I reside in darkness where evil’s enlightened Mostly contorted, but sometimes I’m heightened

If you look around, you can tell I’ve been preying Though when I appear, the guitarist keeps playing

Okay I'm clearly thinking of a different meaning of dextrous...I'm thinking of dexterity, as in quickness or nimbleness of the hands. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dexterity I'll just come out and say that the last two lines refer to accurately playing the main theme (carrying it well) on the piano (corpse [wood=dead tree] shell) in tifa's room, to get her final limit break, Final Heaven ("divine power").

Since it's new page here's the riddle again. As usual FF7.

if you want to find me then use the next statement as a map but dont believe it all because its mostly full of crap -------------north of condor------------------------ ------------enter bone village--------------------- ---------down a mountain of havoc-------------- ------------look at your menu---------------------- -----------only inaccurate data------------------- ----go outside and backtrack to find us------ when you figure that out then identify me i come in a group one specific multiple of 3 i have a nice view and noone bothers me but the truth is I'm a slave shackled near a tree
And yea Link, condor is fort condor. I forgot to write fort lol.

yeah, but you were the second person to think of dexterity as meaning strength...someone referred to it earlier as maybe signifying HP. and I seem to remember some old rpg that used "dexterity" as synonymous with HP, so I wondered if I was the only one who thought it meant "quickness with the hands" The joke itself was taken in all jokeness. :-)

Oh, no, I meant it as meaning right-handed! Like dextral, as opposed to sinistral, like Maxim, but quite unlike Minim--oops, my puns aren't so breve anymore, perhaps I'd better quarter while I'm a head.

You mean while you're still over my head? You lost me at maxim. :/

Holy shit. I figured it out. You keep stressing about dexterity and it reminds you of a certain character. And the dead/shell part. Wow. That's well thought out. I'll let other people guess because that part is genius. And you're right in the end you actually pla...hear the tune!

As for the riddle, this is a long shot, but is it the summon Typhoon? I'm too lazy to say how I came to this and I'm probably wrong because I can't seem to remember anything for these riddles...

Yea, you're not right. But I'm curious to your thought process(you never know it could be on the right track). When you have time, please explain and maybe I can help you out.

I didn't believe most of it because I couldn't make sense out of it
-------------north of condor------------------------ ------------enter bone village--------------------- ---------down a mountain of havoc-------------- ------------look at your menu---------------------- -----------only inaccurate data------------------- ----go outside and backtrack to find us------
I said can't really remember this stuff, but bone village made me think of that forest where you find Typhoon and the sword Apocalypse.
when you figure that out then identify me i come in a group one specific multiple of 3
I think Typhoon has 3 heads
i have a nice view and noone bothers me but the truth is I'm a slave shackled near a tree
That forest was a beautiful place iirc, and I think you find Typhoon near or in a tree Oh yeah, and my other thought was that you were talking about one of those diggers in Bone Village

I didn't believe most of it because I couldn't make sense out of it. Good. I said can't really remember this stuff, but bone village made me think of that forest where you find Typhoon and the sword Apocalypse. That forest near bone village isn't the same one as what you're thinking. I think Typhoon has 3 heads I'm pretty sure it's only 2 heads. That forest was a beautiful place iirc, and I think you find Typhoon near or in a tree The view doesn't necessarily have to do with how beautiful the place looked like Oh yeah, and my other thought was that you were talking about one of those diggers in Bone Village It has to do with the answer to my riddle. So typhoon isn't really shackled. For future reference, shackled btw isn't literal.

They need to make a remake already so my memory won't be so cloudy. Musenji, where are you and your Riddler powers?
