more drop d.
Still very nice and playable.
@Kabukibear (October 11, 2007 at 12:16 AM)
Get over it man, it's the tuning I prefer.
@archard (October 11, 2007 at 12:30 AM)
Hahaha, I don't mind it that much Kabukibear. I've actually gotten really good at switching to and from Drop D. I've gotten to the point where I can do it without testing the tone against the 5th string now.

Funny, how in FF9 alot of the songs sounded similar like, Protecting my devotion, and Loss of me, but this is a slower version of them :)

wow drop d to be honest i'd rather play my guitar tuned normally i dont see whats so good about playing it with a drop D tuning sorry i just wanted to say that peace out

It's not a matter of "good" or "bad," it's what works for what piece. So why do I use it so much on my arrangements? Because 1, I like the depth of tone that comes from playing in it. When you drop the low string the entire bottom half of your guitar becomes a giant D chord (without the 3rd). Also, it has to do with the general makeup of music itself. You'll find that if you play a piece normally, it may go pretty high on the neck and require unique fingerings to play. However, if you transpose a piece of music INTO the key of D, then tune your guitar to drop D tuning, you find that it's almost like the music was written for the guitar. Times where it required you to play with fingers in akward places are now replaced with open strings. Hard stretches are replaced by easier stretches. For example, a 1 on the 6th string and 7 on the 1st string is a nasty stretch, but in drop D it becomes a 3-7 which is still a stretch but not nearly as bad.
So honestly, it's a personal preference based on the tone and playability of the tuning. I will usually only use drop D tuning if the key is in D or I plan on MAKING the key in D. A capo can always be used to play the piece in it's original key while keeping the easier fingerings, so in my opinion it's a win win. Sorry you dislike it so much, I guess I'm just used to it. :)

Its really not that hard to tune your E string down. Match it with the D string you already got. its only an octave lower. its a flick of the wrist really to tune it in and out of drop D=P

i can't remember how to do a Drop D tuning. Anyone shed some light on this for me
@TrangOul (January 13, 2009 at 6:19 PM)
Maybe you are thinking of another song, such as "Protecting my Devotion".

Awesome tab, baffled why people are bitching about changing to drop-d tuning. Good work anyway.
