In a lot of your earlier recordings you seemed a lot stiffer and your left hand movements were very jerky. You seem to transition a lot slower and smoother on this recording.

I'm assuming you're not sight reading for this song like maybe some of the others maybe? Either way it sounded good, unfortunate that the video is all weird.

I was still sight reading!

I was still sight reading! but i've been sight reading this one since last year, so i've figured out the proper barring stuff and whatnot for this specific arrangement. Also I think my techniques gotten a little better. im happy

Wow! Your left wrist looks a lot freer and straighter! And it looks like you've been working on your right hand position too! It still looks a little "clenchy" but it's a lot better!

And no way are you sight-reading this! You MUST have practiced this a few times. "Sight-reading" is when you have never played a piece before, and you are reading it (by sight) for the first time.

I thought there was a chance you'd say "Actually, sight-reading is just that: reading/playing from sight. It doesn't make a difference whether it's for the first time or fiftieth." I thought this, because I thought there was a chance that it was true.

I could have just done a quick confirm on Wikipedia to make sure that I was right, instead of saying that I might be corrected. :p

I took your advice from the last video and tried holding my wrist in a different way while playing! I like the feeling holding my wrist this way gets. Its like the way my nails pluck the string is more satisfying somehow. my tone feels fuller too! I still have trouble playing totally relaxed, but i'm working on it day by day.

And sorry, I thought he meant sight reading as in staring at the screen while playing! I have definitely played this one many times. I thought he meat I wasn't playing this off memory, which is true!

Yeah I think that's what he

Yeah I think that's what he meant too, you probably didn't misunderstand. I'm just being a terminology Nazi.

There's no quick term for "reading from the page" unfortunately.

I'm trying this tab out. It is annoyingly not easy.

Best FF song ever. You should

Best FF song ever.

You should invest in a small condenser mic or something. around 70+ for one of the industry standard when it comes to acoustic. When you start recording yourself with higher quality you send to find more of your mistakes and become a better player.

i'm going to practice a bit

i'm going to practice a bit more and just focus on my technique before I spend any money on equipment.

You don't get what im saying.

You don't get what im saying. recording yourself with even a standard mic (CAD E70 ) will help you improve much more. You see what you need to work on much more. plus recording actually makes you want to play more and experiment and song write.

Learning how to record will help improve you as a musician,Timing and help yourself relax when you play.

I don't need a better mic, I

I don't need a better mic, I need to practice more. I already thoroughly enjoy recording with my current mic. When I get to a higher skill level and I want to reward myself, I will buy another one.

sure the quality could be

sure the quality could be better, but i enjoyed it. the video/sound quality didn't detract me from liking what i heard. good job!

I totally agree with the

I totally agree with the frugal attitude. :-)

I think what gio is going for is that with a better mic you can better hear your mistakes, and tone, and such. So the motivation for getting a better mic would not be to reward yourself, but rather to make it possible to improve even more. However, the best guitarists in the world probably did not take that path. I don't see Julian Bream sitting at home at the age of 14, thinking, "I need to get a really nice microphone so that I can practice better." The great majority of improvement that is possible, is possible without recording at all. And the majority of benefit from listening to yourself probably does not require a good quality microphone.

People are different, with different paths to success. What you are doing is clearly working for you so far, and I think will continue to work for you for a long time if you keep it up! Follow your own judgment!

PS On the other hand, a 10 dollar usb mic makes a world of difference from a laptop mic, as I'm finding. :p

Who knows, maybe i'll get a

Who knows, maybe i'll get a good mic for Christmas or something, but i'm completely fucked financially until I can get a summer job.

I don't really think he needs a new mic for recording, it as a whole came out really clear and had that warmth that a lot of microphones take away.

It was quite, but in no way did I hear any lows/mids/highs feeding back or any of the other jazz.

Great job Lemon!
