YOU BE THE JUDGE!

Thanks turtle bro! Much

Thanks turtle bro! Much appreciated.

your camera is quite good

your camera is quite good compared to mine XD
and i think your playing is quite good too ^^

Play this at least once per day and in one or two weeks it will be even better than it already is ^^

THAT'S A PRETTY GOOD CAMERA.

THAT'S A PRETTY GOOD CAMERA. THE PLAYING WASN'T BAD OVERALL, BUT YOU MIGHT WANT TO TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR PLUCKING HAND'S TECHNIQUE, SO YOU DON'T STAGGER BY USING THE SAME FINGER REPEATEDLY ON THE SAME STRING.

What MCALLCAPS said. Also,

What MCALLCAPS said. Also, pluck from the knuckle, and play confidently!

Are you saying I'm screwing up because I keep hitting the same string repeatedly with one finger?

I try to use my thumb for the low E string the A string and the D string while using my index for G my middle for B and my ring for E. I used to only use my index and thumb and eventually got used to picking this new way although sometimes I slip up and revert back to old habits.

Any rate, whatever it is I'm sure I'm doing something wrong because my hand gets all tense and sore after playing guitar for too long.

Yeah, that's a bad habit.

Yeah, that's a bad habit. Don't assign fingers to strings.

Well at first I was sort of under the impression that doing the kind of "pincher" method with my index and thumb was a bad thing so I tried to do this and now I kinda took it too far.

Lots of unlearning to do D:

You can do stuff like that

You can do stuff like that when you're playing chords and arpeggios. If you're playing a bassline and melody, the basic technique is thumb for bass notes, alternating index-middle for melody :-D

More than one technique, for more than one situation! But plucking the same string with the same finger repeatedly is inefficient and builds tension.

a recording? from karathrow?

a recording? from karathrow? Finally!
You did a fantastic job (love this song so much), but you do change tempo alot throughout the song, and occasionally the timing is off. Like everyone else says, just keep practicing, and keep the recordings coming :D
and of course, more ff9 please :D

Thanks I appreciate the

Thanks I appreciate the feedback a lot.

This is my first recording (at least posted to gametabs) so hopefully next time I will put more effort in or get a better camera XD. I'll try to work on the timing/tempo too...I'm bad at that :E

It's pretty good for a first

It's pretty good for a first recording! It sounds like your rhythm's okay, but you're having trouble changing chords. You might have an easier time if you keep your thumb behind the neck, instead of wrapped around it like you're holding a baseball bat.

Ugh it's so hard to change bad habits. I wish I had learned to play without putting my thumb over the neck so I wouldn't have to worry about un-learning it now.

I'll try to revisit it and un-baseball-bat my guitar technique.

cameras fine, technique is

cameras fine, technique is spot on, ive been struggling with this song for a while now, namely the transitions are biting me in the ass, but thats always my issue with fingerstylish songs anyways.

i doubt ill say anything no ones said already, but well; timing is off in some parts, but only by a smidgeon, and theres some minor delay between transitions, but theyre a bitch anyhow, and that sorta thing comes with time, so they say.

overall, excellent sound, excellent skill, SPLENDID choice of song, makes me wanna play the game again, and THATS how you know ya did a damn good job.

keep it up karathrow! i wait to see some more of your stuff!

The camera isn't that bad

The camera isn't that bad actually. Finally we get to see you play :P not bad at all. I know nothing of fingerstyle so I have no advice lol...

Hey thanks! I've been spending a long time just learning random acoustic songs and while I'm having fun with that I'm not really happy with my progress so I'm going to try really hard to practice my picking. I'm hoping I can use a pick soon so I can play a wider variety of songs. I do intend to do a fillmore recording someday :P

It's one of those times where you really realize the difference between playing and practicing :E

Yeah, someday I think I'll

Yeah, someday I think I'll try fingerpicking. Right now I'm trying to do a bit more rhythm since I've focused on lead in the past year and a half. :S I put all the songs I know on my ipod and play along with them every two or three days when I have time, so I do a lot of practicing. Funny how you mess up when the camera is on though :P

Yeah it would be cool if you could mix in multiple guitar parts in to your recordings (I have no idea what all is involved for that). I know people like Link and Cpx do it a lot.
