Doing something behind someone's back, covert operations and such stuff. That is the theme this time around. Feel free to build up on the previous threads, or just jump into this with a fresh perspective.

Also, I heard that MechaKrauser has promised to do something that depicts the act of peeking at anime girls at the hot springs resort, conveniently still functional after the events from the last few threads.

Nice theme!

Oh there's a nice theme! It's like you're reading my mind or something, Ava O_O
Hmmm, so many possibilities... Hot Spring Peeping Job, Panty Thief Catburglar, Misadventures of the Notorious Serial Upskirt Photographer, And Now I Use My Newfound Superpower of Invisibility to Observe the Girls' Locker Room...
I sure hope I can control my nosebleeds long enough to write the actual theme :3

Oh, thank heavens! So the deadline is the 30th! I thought it was the 20th and was starting to get anxious, hahaha. I was working out an idea but I've been sidetracked with things lately (Skyrim, tabs, new anime season), and I completely lost my train of thought and it's nowhere near done.

But I should be able to get back in the groove by the 30th. Probably...

Edit: Listening to the Alien Isolation OST, think it will work perfectly as an insperation for sneakyand suspenseful writing. :)

@BigHeadClan
That sounds like a better idea than what I was doing. I decided to condition myself for this contest by making a fresh Khajiit sneak-type chara in Skyrim. I named him Neko Pantsu Sticky-Paws and his higher purpose was to max out Pickpocketing and steal the clothing off the back of every female NPC in Whiterun. But I kinda got bored with the tediousness of sneak-focused characters and at some point switched to smashing my way through Solstheim with my Argonian warhammer warrior lol.
Inspiration struck instead as I was rewatching the Prison School anime and I came up with a pretty cool sneaky/nefarious plot-sounding riff. I've been trying to build up a piece around that.

@Avaruussaha
You should totally post it anyways when it's done (if you're not going to use it for anything else, that is)

@MechaKrauser Hah I am Neko Pansu Sticky-Paws, and I have come for your underwear. Kinda reminds me of Ban from the 7-Deadly Sins anime.

Ban is just too cool and suave. He probably wouldn't even need to sneak, he could just walk up to them and use persuasion lol. I was thinking more along the lines of Tomoki from Heaven's Lost Property. I even had his creepy laugh in mind while I was sneaking around "Kyoi-hoi-hoi-hoi~"

My entry:

Alright I decided to take your challenge, Ava, and here is my finished entry: Unseen in the Hot Spring
https://soundcloud.com/user-326023606/unseen-in-the-hot-spring

The result of a marathon of anime fanservice episodes. I decided early on that I would use a decending chromatic chord progression to get the sneakiness across. And I made heavy use of the 'seashore' effect in Guitar Pro to give it a wet, hot spring-ish vibe.

The sequence of events roughly plays out like this:

(1) The very first part of the song is supposed to mimic a heartbeat and rising, reatic pulse, followed by a short delusion brought on by the sounds of splashing from the other side of the wall that divides the hot spring.

(2) Next comes the formation of a wicked plan and the acting on it.

(3) Around the middle part the plan has brought fruition and the incognito protagonist sees the sight that he had longed to see... which is cut short by a sudden gasp!

(4) Next, time seems to slow as his cover is blown and he frantically searches for an escape route.
It proves futile as more voices join the mob that is hot on his heels. Finally there is nowhere left to run or hide and the protagonist accepts his fate with no regrets and lets out one final "Yelp".

...And if you ask me to tie it into the canon from the previous entries, then it was all a lusty dream sequence brought on by a Temptress/Sorceress/Succubus in an attempt to have one of the heroes stray from the path of righteousness.

Rejected song titles include Blankets of Blinding Steam, Intrusive Rays of Unnatural Light, and Wet Dream of the Hot Spring Scheming King. lol

I'm sure there's still time for more entries :) Avaruussaha pretty much extended the deadline by 3 days. I'd say more entries are welcome at least until Ava says the deadline is up and the judging has begun.

Hah well dryer is fixed now (belt slipped off), so I'd prefer to keep it working in the meantime. I will try submitting something tomorrow , pretty much had to trash everything I wrote today because it turned into a country/blues kinda thing. lol

Edit: And here it is! It's a bit rough around the edges at the moment. Besides that, it's quite different from what I usually do. I think it's a little okay for a sort of "first" try for something like this. Maybe some of you will like it more than I do xD

It ends abruptly because it's meant to loop, of course :þ

Huge thanks for participating! Took a bit long to get this done, and even now I'm quite out of juice to describe my detailed thoughts about the entries. Last time I picked a winner I used the

Mystical windy method

Not this time!
To contrast, this time it's gonna be short and literal.

MechaKrauser - Unseen In The Hot Spring
Storysong, stuff going wrong. Gives out a feeling of things spiraling out of control slowly but surely.

Jean Quida - Operating in secret
Mission briefing, or some kind of a empty castle pop to my mind. Curious exploration?

Lloyde_Sorrow - Operating in Secret
Sounds "tactical", no mistakes allowed kind of atmosphere.

Jacob31593 - Late Entry
Concentration, makes me think of MacGyver doing something with a coat hanger, rope, marbles and a snickers bar.

After a few rounds, I narrowed the candidates to Lloyde and Jacob, although all the four entries were quite unlike what I was expecting (or would have done myself, but that's not a criteria so don't mind that). Jacob's Late Entry didn't quite click until I had the mentioned image on MacGyver, and suddenly it made sense.

I hope Jacob31593 is checking the results, I'm going to say he wins it this time! In a way Lloyde's tune painted the same kind of picture, in a more serious way.

Looking forward to the next one, cheers!

Congrats!

Woot! Congrats Jacob! I thought Lloyd had it this time too. Must've been a tough call for you, Ava. I was happy to see someone else using barebones midi besides myself :3 I was waiting for the contest to conclude before I said anything.

If you're stumped for ideas for the next contest I'll contribute a few suggestions:

Sengoku Warring States Period, Pachabel's Jazz Canon, Wright Brothers, Trapped in a Video Game, Battle with a Dragon, The Death of a God, The Boondock Saints: The Musical, Giant Robots in Outer Space, March of the Demon King's Army, Afterschool Love Confession, Time Travel, Pornographic Japanese Comic Books, Country and Western Hoedown, Theme Song for a Magical Girl Anime, War on Mars,

Just pick something you'd like to make a submission for, something you'd like to hear submissions of, or something you'd want to make everyone else do submissions for... *tee-hee*
