Btw, started tabbing for the FFVII album. 4 hours to tab 50 seconds, this will be hard :O xD
The albums will always be 3 months, 2 months are too short, i think.
Well the main participants of the tune contest are yourself, tiger child, avaruussaha, hslesperence, soundsandstuff...
You guys are not much into covers or arrangements (expect you and tiger child both did a nice track for the zelda album, loved them) so do you really plan to participate to a "cover challenge" ? If no do you think it will change something about the participation of the tune contests ?
I'll keep on participate to tune contests if the themes inspired me =)
You never know, we might end up getting more participants in the tune contests. I sure hope so xD It'd be more fun with more, but nevermind that right now.
Cover challenge? I didn't know they were challenges :P But yeah, though I am not much into doing covers and arrangements, I might still do them from time to time. I'm actually considering doing one for the FF VIII cover album. Just not too sure on what I wanna do.

sometimes the tune contests get more entries than just the regulars. and it would be nice to have more people involved. i can see lloyd's point about the monthly contest taking away possible participation, or somehow lowering the quality of the things people do, in order to try to do more. of course there is always the possibility that having more activity in general can bring around more members to the site and lead to more people getting involved in other aspects - not just the cover things. it's tough to really make a call on this right now. specifically regarding the Tune Contest, i think it could go either way - being helpful or a negative. i'd like to see more people get excited about writing their own original music and pushing them to try that, rather than a constant stream of cover albums. but that's just me. i'm sure there is a way everything can not only coexist, but hopefully flourish and grow. it's simply about finding the right balance.
Well said, tiger. Especially in wanting to see more people get excited about writing their own original music xD
Let's wait and see how things go and balance it out from there. :3
Well i'll make a test or 2 of this new "event" on June and July to check if people are interested and if it doesn't shadow the other activities.
But in summer some people are home for a while so.. well, we will see !
Hey :D
It's nice, i'm happy i got some "no guitar" entries last days and it's really cool to have some diversity !
I even hope to got more songs like that for the FF8 Album ^^
About your flute, do you use a compressor for the mix ?
Yeah, this album is really gonna be awesome! Still super excited for that piano/viola thing too!
I did in fact use both a multiband compressor and a "regular" one, but I admit that I don't have much of an idea of how it works exactly, or of what ratio should I use.

Hum okay !
Well i use default settings for compressors on cubase so, i don't really know ^^'
At 0.11 minutes the flute seems to make clipping. But you can correct that easily with the mix :)
I think you don't need to export in 96khz, i think there are no audible difference between 44 and 96.
Anyway it is a nice track you guys did :D
Thank you :D
I hope you'll enter for FF8 too ^^
Well, if the Zoom H1 can go that high, I better use it for something, right?
Yeah, I generally agree with you. Although I can definitely hear some difference between the 320kbps .mp3 and that .wav file, I probably wouldn't be
able to tell a 44khz .wav apart from this one.
Thanks for the opportunity! We had a blast doing this!
Yeah, I'll probably do something for the FF8 one... Maybe a flute quartet?...

@BigHeadClan I'd like to be able to get some sort of choir/chanting vocals. There are a couple of songs in FFX like the boss battle theme and a contest of aeons which have synth choirs which I'd like to replace with choir vocals instead. I want to make this FFX medley my big project for 2015, going to try and recruit some people to play the strings sections and hopefully a pianist. Really want to do justice to the soundtrack cause it's the game that got me started with FF haha. Of course at the end of the day if no one is interested I'll have to make do with vsts but I really hope it doesn't have to come to that :P
Also, if you ever want give otherworld a shot let me know. I'd be keen to collab on that!
Loved the vocal tracks from FFX from the hymns to Ramstien esc. growls of other world, let me know exactly what you have in mind and I'll see what I can do and I will start practicing. I'm not much of a singer but if it requires a deeper voice I have you covered. :)

Oh right so I have a bit of time then lol. Not sure I can help with the ff8 album as I have never played a ff game. I do own ff7 just never got round to playing it.
Yeah. I don't own any of the FF games, but I did watch someone else play it a few times, but I'm still joining. So I'd say go for it if you feel like it :)

Can't remember too much of the music from FF8 but I think me and my friend will try to record something for this album as well. Can you lock us down for "The Loser"? I figured I'd stick with something somewhat familiar with the typical FF prelude in there. We probably won't work on this till later on since we got some other stuff we'd like to record first but I think we can do it within the deadline.
