Do we have an IRC channel?

Just wondering.
I'm aware of the shoutbox but I think it would also be pretty cool to have an IRC channel,
I know some people simply hate IRC so its okay, just throwing out there the possibility to have one.

Oh so that's what happened.
that's most unfortunate but understandable, I know quite a few people who dislike IRC,being that the case I suppose I'll just stick with the shoutbox, though if someone else is up for it I'll make one.

I was thinking about an IRC channel too - it would be nice to have one for GameTabs. Each day there are new users, so maybe now there will be a group of people interested in using IRC - if not then we have a shoutbox that we can still use.

Ok we might as well give it a shot, since I got permission.
I created and reg'd a channel for us gametabs users,
the address is:

irc.rizon.net/#gametabs

if someone doesn't know how to connect or what irc is just tell me.
I can't be on 24/7 due to school but I'll probably still be lurking there afking.

Well first of all, what is this shoutbox? I used to see it on the side of my screen but it dissappeared one day, never to return.

And i went to http://irc.rizon.net but it said there was no gametabs channel, it may not have been created yet but i've never used it before sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I dunno :P

How to Join IRC Channels

Here's a quick mini tutorial on how to join IRC servers and rooms.

First you'll need a program like mIRC (Though it says it's not free, you can use it past the 30 day trial for free, this is also the most popular of the three I listed), HydraIRC (Completely Free), or Chatzilla (A firefox extension/plugin thing, free as well). There are also a ton of other IRC clients you can use such as Pidgin (Universal client that uses IMs systems like MSN AIM too) or xChat, etc, but they're all basically run the same way.

Next open whichever program you have, there should be a blank window with a line to type stuff in. It should look something like this:

Type on the line: /server irc.rizon.net , then press Enter.

Wait for it to connect, should look something like this:

The client will tell you when you've succesfully connected.

Now in the same window type in: /j #gametabs

Now you're done! You should see a new window open up, that is the channel window. Start chatting away.
