I wouldn't say they killed it, but based on how disappointing I thought 11 and 12 were I'm a little skeptical about this one. I still have hope for this though.

Iono, Square has always been making highly experimental games, that includes the whole Final Fantasy Series. So I don't see how that trailer kills the Final Fantasy franchise!? =/ |

Yeah really, just what about this trailer gives the impression that they've killed Final Fantasy? |

Tranq said it well enough. Square Enix has a very successful series on their hands and are branching out with the ideas and concepts because they can no afford to take more risks. I'm sure sometime in the future we'll see that traditional FF in modern day graphics and presentation, but until then, I say let them explore. Hit or miss, at least they're trying. |

Hm, seems you posted the unsubtitle version.. Heres the subbed version: I'm looking forward to FXIII. The thing is that they (Square-enix) do honestly try their best to make the best game they can, and do listen to their fans & critics alike. |

I haven't play a Final Fantasy since 10, but I'd say this game looks pretty impressive. Especially the battle scenes. I was playing Final Fantasy 3 the other day, and the graphics have come a really long since then. Don't get me wrong, I love Final Fantasy 3 (or 6) to death, but these graphics are incredible. I think it would be worth checking out. Even still, I wouldn't mind seeing Final Fantasy return to a more medieval town and village sort of style.

^^; yay they released the English version now.. >> should of waited to post today. Hm, I'm pretty glad they didn't make everyone's voice with a British(?)-like-accent lol not that it's bad or anything, but it just seemed to bother me in FF12. o-o and they really went all the way into implementing the English dialogue into the game it seems.. In past trailers the lips never really synced up with the translations, but whether they just did a good job focusing the words to match the lips, or re-editing the animations is beyond me lol. Hopefully that stays pretty consistent. Edit: lol though the CG scenes are out of sync |

I know it's been said a billion times but why don't they just remake FF7 or FF6 for that matter? Sooo many people would buy those games its ridiculous. |

Hm.. I remember reading a interview a while back with Hironobu Sakaguchi, and from what I remember the problem isn't that they can't remake a final fantasy (other then porting it over such as from, say the snes to a handheld, with the exception of ff4 on ds(?)), but the issue is that they don't want to recreate a game that has already been perfected. He went on to say that if they continued to recreate the ff-games then the cycle will never end, and inevitably have the company stuck in reworking the games from the past instead of moving forward. This brings up the issue of how much work they should put in the game that so that i can not just appeal to the fans, but to the modern gaming society. Example: FF7's gameplay was perfect in 1997, but would it just wouldn't satisfy those players in this decade, and if they did change the gameplay, the hardcore fans of ff7 will be disappointed due to the changes, and would sure create some people making threads on how they think square ruined final fantasy *cough*. Hmm.. I'll try finding the interview lol, hopefully it's still around here somewhere. |
