recently ive been noticing alot of Spammers hitting up the site with shoe links, pictures of products and have to say its getting very annoying and its time we started banning these fuckes from the site period. Just deleting the tread itself isnt doing anything. Archard I think its time to start thinking about giving the MODS a BANN option of course this is to be used only on spammers. Its just getting out of hand I think ive deleted about 5 posts maybe more this month plus some last month. Its only going to get worse

Altough those shoes are mighty comfy I agree.

"of course this is to be used only on spammers"

Any member posting offensive enough material (excluding some swearing here and there) should be ban-no, expelled, too. Being a lowly proletarian, I can't say what's right or what's wrong. But I do believe there should be at least some rules to follow.

5 per month isn't all that bad, actually. To give you an idea of how bad those spammer fucks want to post their crap, check out this graph.

That's almost 800 spam attempts per day on average since I started using this spam blocking service, Mollom.

I agree though, we have to ban their accounts, or better yet, DELETE them altogether. That's all you can really do with these spam guys. So I'm giving you moderators the ability to administer user accounts, which means you can ban them, delete them, whatever. If you see a spambot, you might as well just delete the account altogether. I trust you won't abuse your powers.

Also I'm promoting Vic to the Chief Executive Spam Officer position.

geez, there's more spam attempts than there are users.

Also, I'm kinda unclear on weather or not I'd be considered a "mod".

Well that depends:

Do you like pop music, tailored suits and motor scooters? Do you live in London?

getting rid of spammers will destroy balance of this site just as getting rid of an animal species would affect the food chain.

deleting accounts will not prohibit them from creating new ones, banning them will log their ip and what not so that they can not register but its still not gonna do anything, a site i admined at got multiple spams a day, after awhile i got tired of banning them and just started moving all of the funny spams to a certain board and deleting the rest.
