So I don't really watch anime anymore...

but I watched "Wolf Children" last night and I thought it was pretty great.

It's very Miyazaki-esque. It's not really laden with anime tropes and chibi faces. Wolf Children is really pretty and feelsy. (No it's not some weirdo furry shit either, I promise.)

Here's link to the trailer since embedding has been royally fucked on the forums.

Oh Wolf Children is absolutely amazing. Mamoru Hosoda is a fantastic director, so you might like his earlier works Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time too.

Most of the time I feel like I've seen the show before but with slighty different characters/setting/presentation etc., the only Anime right now that I really enjoy watching is the second season of Mushishi.

I loved The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, but Summer Wars was just kind of okay, I think.

karathrow, HTML is filtered by default, so only certain tags work. A moderator can switch a post to unfiltered HTML, and then it works. I did that for your post just now.

Wolf Children's not a tv show, it's a movie. It definitely doesn't reinvent the wheel, but I never really found that to be a crucial aspect of the things I enjoy.

I still watch plenty of anime, Wolf Children is on my list for movies when I finally get around to it. I must admit
anime has been a little stale as of late.

I am not sure what are you guys even on about considering this current season of anime has been dubbed by many as the best season of anime. This says quite a lot since we aren't even reaching the end of the year yet and certainly far from being a "little stale" or "so much awful". Tv anime series like Mushishi Zoku Shou, No Game No Life, Ping Pong, Jojo Stardust Crusaders, Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin, Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou and Isshuukan Friends are the most highly regarded this season which is a lot when compared to the last season that only have around 4. But i digress.

OT: Already watched it and i found it to be slightly better than your average movie. Meh, maybe it is not within my preferences or something.

Paprika and Millennium Actress are very unique. Try them.

I'm often recommended to watch Attack on Titan. Does anyone know if that's any good?

Haven't watched any of those yet although "No Game No Life & Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin" sounded interesting, hopefully I can catch up with all my anime when I go on vacation.

Thanks for the input.

For me, I dropped it around the middle but if you're really into that shounen genre, it would be right up your alley. They do have 2 superb intro songs, which I made a tab/video here for it for electric, and there's an amazing acoustic tab here as well.

Cool! I may just check them out. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by shounen, but I guess I'll just have to watch and find out.

Shounen is a demographic that is basically aimed at young boys. This is a common misconception made by anime fans in assuming shounen and among other demographics such as josei and seinen as genres which are not true.

Hmm. Well I guess I just barely fit in that demographic. I think... But I get what you mean. Thanks!
