They're in the official book. I recommend you buy it, to support the tabbers.

Are these songs from the original book exactly? These arrangements sounds amazing. Is there anywhere I can buy this cd? |

If this is the cd from the book then yeah, they're a cd + book bundle. I've been looking for the cd for a bit. Ordering from Japan is a pain sometimes so I wondered if I could find this anywhere, thanks a bunch! |

Yeah, sorry... I didn't realize until I downloaded the CD and listened to the tracks. The other book has more songs, but this one has a few more songs that I'd like to play. If you end up getting this, then we can trade some of the songs in my book for some of the one's in yours :P I just ordered the Dragon Quest guitar book, so I don't want to spend another $40 on another guitar book. I was my GF was back in Japan again to buy me another one! So much cheaper there. I got my FF Guitar Solo book for like 1200Y

Would you want to do some exchanged? :P I'd really like to have "You're Not Alone", "Clash on the Big Bridge", and possible "Rebel Army". I can trade for you from any of the songs from either the FF Guitar Solo Collection or Dragon Quest books. Here's a list of all the songs in the FF Guitar Solo Collection book that YOU wouldn't get in the one you got. So pick and choose whatever you want (If you want, that is):
From Final Fantasy II Town My Home Town From Final Fantasy IV Town Theme From Final Fantasy V The Day Will Come From Final Fantasy VI Awakening From Final Fantasy VII Farm Boy Fragments of Memories From Final Fantasy IX Vamo' alla flamenco From Final Fantasy X

It's the same as if we were to trade Pokemon cards. Just as long as you aren't selling it, or putting it outside of private use. As long as you or I don't send trade it through a public medium (By this, I mean a place where everyone has access to it without any keys, passwords, or id's). So if we take pictures, scan, or re-write the music, put send it through e-mail, upload it onto imageshack or rapidshare, then it will be completely legal. Of course, I don't have any legal documentation to prove it to you, but you'll have to trust me. I've been in an orchestra for about 5 years, and our conductor has made thousands of copies of music, but because it is for private use (We, the orchestra, are the only ones who have it), then it's fine. We've performed in front of police, lawyers, and what not, and it's all good. So don't worry about it:)

here is a Final Fantasy Guitar Collection Book, but it's not the one, you described on on top of this page, it is another one, but better than nothing ; ) OR http://rapidlibrary.com/index.php?q=final+fantasy+guitar+solo+collection and if you're watching this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIiRng9UfZc there in the description there is another link, which doesn't work very well (at least for me it didn't). so you can split that link and you get to another website, a directory. there you can also download the "final fantasy guitar collection"-book, some piano sheets and what i especially recommend, a "chrono cross"-guitar book. OR http://sodaorat2.free.fr/public/othersheet/ hope, i could help a little |

Could someone clear this up for me, please? There are two Final Fantasy guitar books? I have the Solo Collection; I picked it up in Japan, but this "Guitar Solo Final Fantasy Official Best Collection CD Book" has a different track listing. Hmm. Must aquire. The solo collections are great; sure, as someone pointed out, a lot of them are really quite boring arrangements, but some are just so awesome, like the Town theme from FFII. edit: I actually answered my own question through google. Yes, I know, I'm amazing. There is another book. Too awesome! Amazingly, the download link for the audio still worked, so I've been listening to it. Must say, Sekiguchi isn't as good as an arranger as Hirakura. But still, that book is a must own. So expensive for a poor student, though. Will have to put on backburner until I'm less poor. |

I imported this last November (pretty much right after this topic was made), and I have to agree that it is mostly beginner stuff. However, some of the arrangements in this book are very beautiful despite being somewhat simple. My example is Aerith's theme which I personally find to be the prettiest guitar version that I've heard. It is not very complex either. Also, I have not seen anyone play this on youtube, so I guess it would be somewhat unique if someone were to post a video of themselves playing it. Continuing from the point about complexity, this is a great book for adding and enhancing some of the songs. Again I use Aerith's theme as an example in that it is actually similar to parts of theDoomOfAllFires version but missing some notes and in a different octave. I am considering making a tab that combines elements from this book, theDoomOfAllFire's version, and lonlonjp's version (with a little of my own personal flare... which isn't much lol). Elia, the Water Maiden from FFIII (Japanese version) is another song that I think would be easy and fun to update. I may consider that someday. There are also a few songs that are a bit more complex that I think makes this book worth it. J-E-N-O-V-A, Big Bridge, Searching for Friends, and the FFIV Main Theme are the ones I feel are probably good for a bit more intermediate players. The J-E-N-O-V-A arrangement particularly is very unique and despite being confident in my rasquedo and strumming technique, I cant figure out the strumming pattern for some reason (as far as upstrokes and downstrokes are concerned). Anyways I give this book a recommendation for anyone wanting to quickly add some pretty songs to their repertoire or anyone wanting to create a more complex arrangement based off of these. |

Thank you for your impressions, Natenmn, I appreciate it. It's certainly on my list after hearing the CD, but all in all the arrangements don't sound as interesting as the Solo Collection book. I think the one arrangement that I felt really shone on this collection was the Rebel Army Theme. As for the difficulty, I think the entire thing is planted in the intermediate stage. A song or two might be argued to belong to beginner's side of things, but really most pieces here go from lowest reaches of intermediate to somewhere in the middle. In other words, the difficulty of the arrangements is very much like what I would expect to find in a collection of adapted music. It's usually always slightly simplified to hit the intermediate players. I do share your opinion, Natenmn, that these arrangements would be good start to build on. Many of them are nice, but lack a certain flow in my ear, that would be fun to add. As a complete aside, I recently made a guitar pro file of the Town arrangement from the Solo Collections book, my favourite arrangement of any Final Fantasy song from any source by far, to share with a friend, so I figured I'd attach it here in case anyone wanted it. |

That is a very nice arrangement and I think I may be investing some time into it in the near future :). Also I see that you have included fingering which is awesome. With that in mind I should note that in this particular book there is a "one point advice" section for each song. I'm not sure if the other solo collection book has something similar (is that where you got your fingering from?), but this could be very useful for more intermediate to advanced players who have never taken classes (which is probably a lot of us here) to see the proper fingering for a more solid technique in future playing. And you are right about the Rebel Army Theme... it is very good, however I think that TrangOul's tab is very similar but a bit more complete with the extra bass notes, but it looks like it's in a different key(?). I can't say for certain, though, because I only compared the first few measures. Not sure which one is more true to the original, though, if that is what someone is looking for. |

The Solo Collection has fingerings for any section where it might not be entirely clear what would be the best way to approach, and I conveyed those verbatim in my tab thanks to guitar pro's handy fingering function. Now, I haven't seen the Official Best Collection book, but based on the Solo Collection book and the Best Collection cd, I say the Solo Collection has the better arrangements overall. As for the Rebel Army Theme, yes the tabs on the site already are quite similar, I simply hadn't checked. I've never tried to play it, it was just the number that jumped out at me from the cd, as it were. |

Thanks for the information. Friends, if you don't know what to read now and want to distract yourself from the games, I advise you to turn your attention to the book Beloved By Toni Morrison. On the page https://artscolumbia.org/free-essays/beloved-essay/ you can read several critical articles about this book, about its plot lines and the history of its creation. |
