As we all know, Zelda games are the games that make the world go round, but everyone's got their favorite, so post em here. I don't really have one definite favorite, but my favorites are Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Windwaker and Phantom Hourglass.

Can't really decide...I love LoZ: Windwaker and LoZ: Ocarina of time. Both are awesome and fun to play in their own kind of way...

the wind waker is number one, and the twilight princess and phantom hourglass are my next two favorites. Speaking of which, I've heard that shigeru miyamoto ( the guy who invented the wii ) said that the twilight princess was the last zelda game of its kind. anyone have any ideas as to what that could mean?

I like Majora's Mask the best. It took all the great gameplay mechanics of OOT and incorporated a unique storyline and added some awesome new functionality with the masks. I thought it was amazing.

Check out this interpretation of the story line of MM. I think some of the points make a lot of sense.

Twilight Princess. I was a die-hard Wind Waker fan until I finally acquired and beat Twilight Princess. Holy fucking ass-rape. That game was a triumph of digital entertainment, and is my second favorite game of all time.

Mine would have to be Ocarina of Time. I'm saying this because the first time I played it way back when blew my mind, XD. Other Zelda games are very close to OoT for me (Link's Awakening, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass), but no other Zelda game has dropped my jaw as far as OoT did. The story, the weapons, the gameplay, the graphics, the music... just everything made that game amazing, and remains my favorite video game of all time, =D.

link's awakening was by far the worst Zelda game I've ever played. I never got it.
I went into the first dungeon and died like 30 times. Like so many game overs.
I personally think that windwaker was the best just cause I love cell-shaded (toon) Link
the 3D graphics made it sooooooooo coooooooool
though I was like 5 when I played Link's awakening so that mightve been why.

Links awakening was hard imo i think i died about 200 times the first time i cleared it, and even if i try it now i will die alot but it isn´t a bad game acctually, just need some time to get in the game.

Zelda doesn't need to change drastically. I would die if an MMO, or a first person Zelda came out. That would ruin it in the same way that FF11 ruined the Final Fantasy series. The only thing Zelda needs is a HUGE HUGE HUGE world full of awesome adventure. I was dissapointed by Twilight Princess because I thought the world was smaller than they hyped it up to be.

May'be they are going to make changes in gameplay. Like instead of 7 big dungeons they are going to make 30 smaller ones with a huge world map :o . Or they're going to change the battle system with more hidden skills (like TP).

idk looks like it could fail horribly or like it could actually have some potential. I don't think Miyamoto is going to risk such a huge series on utter crap. Nintendo is one of the few game companies I still respect for staying true to its fans.

Ow, besides, to stick to the topic;

The Windwaker and Ocarina of time are for me both number one! Because when I got my GC it were the first games I got (OoT and the master quest were on a bonus disk, I had a limited edition of the WW).
Many people said the WW sucked because of the cell-shaded style. I actualy liked it :D
And for the sailing what was considerd boring by many people; it isn't boring, it's relaxing ;)
And the many sidequest (over 49!) and the many islands really made it a great game.

I also liked TP, but it was the easiest one, I never got stuck in a dungeon, boss battle, etc.

Wind Waker was good, I do agree. There were many things to the game that were totally Zelda, but people shoved it off...meh, Screw them I guess. The only reason I can't say it's my favorite is because the battle with Ganon sucked balls (Not the puppet form).

So...I guess my Favorite is Majora's Mask, with OOT in second.
I loved all the extra quests in MM, not to mention the reward for collecting all 50 Masks was well worth it, but the adventure to acquire those masks led you into the lives of the people living in the game. I dunno about the other MM fans but I loved the Stone Tower Temple, it beats the Shadow Temple from OOT in my opinion.

Eh wot?!?!

It's a great game, and you should play it as soon as possible. I have the original N64 version, but my N64 took a dump. I also have it on the Zelda Collectors Edition for Gamecube. It's totally worth your time (playing the game, that is). It kinda reminds me The Phantom Hourglass, in puzzles, TPH had some very unique ones (such as closing your DS to make an imprint of the map).

I felt like such a badass since I was the first person I knew to get this game, and for some reason that puzzle immediately made sense to me. None of my friends got it (the puzzle), and I showed every one of them. I'm so smug. 8-)

by THAT he meant that LEgend of zelda would change meaning possibly the set-up or the way the game is played...like saying that (upon something i heard about on a gaming board) that it may go first person which i HOPE that it is just an option
BTW i like all the CANNON legend of zelda games plus crossbow training. those Philips CD games really looked suckish!

That was a tough puzzle, touughest in the game. At first I was like: WTF?! But after taking a break I suddendly realised I had to close my DS

I hope they put MM in the wii shopping channel soon, so I can download it ;)

For the Console zelda's (I know PH is a DS game, bu it is so good it can mingle among them ;) )
Zelda the Windwaker 9.5
Zelda Ocarina of time 9.5
Zelda Twilight princess 9.0
Zelda Phantom hourglass 9.0
Zelda Masterquest 8.5
Zelda Fourswords 8.0
Links crossbow training 6.5 (it's stil a must for every zelda game but you got this ranger level with time and you can't play whitout timelimited :( )

Hmm, I have no favorite Zelda game, I like them all.. but I can say which one I liked the best.

For now it's still the Wind Waker, it was to easy as well, but still a lot of fun. I liked it!
Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess were both great! Majora's Mask was irritating because of the time limit, and rewind back in time and such, that was annoying.
I also like the handheld games of them, those are mostly a lot harder, which I like. The Four Swords was fun and I liked the aspect that was made. Minish Cap was something different, pretty easy and fun to play.

Well.. I played every Zelda game, but those are the games I played the most.. so. :)

well, now this is a series i could ramble on and on about :ugeek:

let's see, where to start?

Legend of Zelda (NES)
well, it's definately not as "good" as the current zelda games, but it's fun. just for the sheer fun of things it's wonderfull to run around in 8-bit style, whacking enemies with a brown pixelblob that should represent your sword and watching out not to die too soon.

Adventure of Link (NES)
never played the game because i never could find the GBA rom for it. on the other hand, thank God i say, 'cause zelda as a side scroller would play horribly i think.

A Link To The Past (SNES)
meh, played parts of it  i never finished it.

Links Awakening (GB)
A wonderfull and innovative game. steal something from a shop, and your name will promptly change in "THIEF" the rest of the game. sometimes it had utter mindfucks, and sometimes it had great moments. the photographer and the raft-ride for example. the story was nice as well, because the whole concept of the dreamworld was wonderfully played out, and you had characters who meant something to the story. i'm actually glad i never sold this game for one good reason, till today, i can still hum the tune of Tal tal Heights.

Ocarina of Time (N64)
now this is the greatest game EVAH!!! first of all it has wonderfull music, the lost woods tune was very addictive and the temple of time is still my favorite VG theme of all time, closely followed by gerudo valley. it had great innovations, it allowed you to write an ocarina song yourself, the hookshot was wonderfull, the day and night principle was implemented well and it had a great worth of sidequests (which one of them provided you with biggoron's sword, KICKASS!! :D )

the whole kid-->adult thingy was nice as well. normally you always fight with a kiddy (save for TP that is), but when i first glanced adult link i thought; "woah, that guy's going to kick ganon's ass? w00t". which also brings me to the final battles, those were epic. the fight against ganondorf was already very nice, but the last fight against ganon? that was just epic.

all with all, this was the best zelda i've ever played

Majora's Mask (N64)
meh, it had some good elements, but the whole three day time limit and the song of time issues were a bit of a killer. i really liked the fact that i could run around as a zora or deku, even play guitar, but the whole ambiance of the game killed it off for me. sorry majy, no points to you.

Oracle of Seasons (GBC)
one thing is very good about handheld zelda games, they're great to keep you busy on hollidays in the car and on campings. i really spent a lot of time playing this game, i actually finished it twice and it's my favorite handheld zelda. the subrosian country with their strange behavior was very good for comic relief, and the handheld games overall had a lot of fun things. also when you finished the game, the secrets were nice to get as well, how fun is it to wield a sword three times your size in a zelda game :D (sorry guys, for final fantasy 7 it's only normal to do that) the story was built up well, and the seasons made the game very diverse. all with all, i loved this game.

Oracle of Ages (GBC)
it had the plusses of it's counterpart, it only has some minus points as well. the game had a lot of boring parts, playing hide and seek with flying rabbits, looking for all the carpenters, getting your stuff back from lizzards  (okay, the smell bag for that tokay with a cold was just hilarious, but that's it). it was a good game, just not as good as seasons.

Windwaker (NGC)
okay, just great. the cell-shading actually made it a whole lot of fun in my opinion, i loved that style. the end fight wasn't as epic as ocarina's, and sometimes it was roundout annoying (screw you, puppet ganon). the sailing however was indeed relaxing, and the many islands were i nice diversion from the everyday slumbers of saving princesses. the dungeons were a bit few, also annoying to get through sometimes, but the rest was well played by nintendo. besides, how much more fun can it get the playing baseball with your hammer and miniblins (those annoying neh-neh sound makers  )

Four Swords Adventures (NGC)
okay, this one was nice for several reasons, playing with four links is four times the fun sometimes, but sometimes it's four times the hassle. nice items though, but it lacked a bit of a good story.

Minish Cap (GBA)
had it's moments, although it tried to be as good as a NGC game, while a GBA obviously lacks the skills for that. the items where mostly unoriginal (save for the gust jar for example) and the last fight against vaati was a bit strange, and a bit boring. the dungeons had nice puzzles sometimes, but they never beat those from seasons and ages. too bad, but i could've been much better.

Twilight Princess (NGC)
oh how i awaited this game, and i actually hated the idea that it was postponed for a year, but in the end it was all for the better. there's a good story, it's well told, and it really gets you. also i like the music from this game, it's not as catchy as ocarina's, but the song of the hidden village makes killing the moblins a whole lot more fun.

the battles on the bridges were things to remember, and the sword techniques made the game really better. some of the puzzles of this game were really something else and teleporting stuff to other places was really nice (take that zora fountain). the last fight against Ganondorf was probably the best Bossfight i ever had, just because it was a pure contest of swordplay (and a lot better at that then the one in windwaker). this game comes second in line for me, 'cause ocarina still kicks ass over this one

Phantom Hourglass (DS)
didn't play it, since i lack a DS (obviously)

Conclusion
1 Ocarina Of Time
2 Twilight Princess
3 Oracle of Seasons

ps. sorry guys, i don't consider link's crossbow training as a real zelda game

In my opinion, that's where Twilight Princess was lacking majorly and stopped it from being the game it should have been.

Majora's Mask was kind of weird at first but I think once you get used to the gameplay mechanics you'll love it. There's a reason for the 3 day thing, and it's not just to piss you off. Different things happen all over Termina depending on which day and which time it is. It really is a unique and fascinating game. And eventually you'll be able to slow down time and the whole time limit thing won't even really be a factor. I think you should give it another chance, you'll probably like it.

When mentioned earlier about FPS as a possibility of the next zelda game mechanic people havent considered how this might take form if this is even what the man ment. Elder scrolls is First person series and they are pretty expansive and fun games... and seriously its a neat camera style. I prefered the Older zelda games Pre-ocarina for their arcade styled view. I liked Link to the past and probably consider it my favorite, and I see a lot of hate for it... but its not necessary, story hasnt really been strong for the series face it.... so why really have much of one at all... This whole idea that Zelda should retain that lock target styled combat system is really too shallow... I find it a little on the easier side... Play the old LOZ games, they offered some real challenge... I think in most cases because I havent read it confirmed with an article saying exactly what is comming for zelda... That maybe my wish has came true... If you read my other Zelda comments... About a LOZ for the grown man, Maybe full diolouge, a real solid T rating or with at least a little bloodshed... Maybe a lot of things, but we as gamers must realize our hobbies... maybe some of us an obsession, came from such a simplistic time of Pong and Space invaders... and maybe even further traced back to a damn Pinball machine... So I for one will not shoot down the idea of any game until I have given it a go myself... UNLESS of course its one of those "made for girls" games... My sister owned a few of those like mary kate and ashley olsen's driving game for the gameboy or all the really lame and poorly made Barbie games ;)

Story has never been a strong point for the series, and neither has the battle system. It has always been pretty straightforward and easy IMO, even in the older ones. The newer ones were cool at first with the lock on system, but something new should happen, I agree. But I've always felt like the battles were just an afterthought to the Zelda series. What makes Zelda awesome is the sense of adventure and the puzzles you have to solve to get through the game. What I was hoping for in Twilight Princess, and what I hope for so badly in the next Zelda game, is just a game where the world iS HYOOOOOOOOOOOOGE. I want there to be so much to explore, so many secrets, so many sidequests, puzzles, easter eggs, adventure and mystery. If they just took the basic concepts of previous Zelda games that have worked, and combined them with an epic, seemingly endless world, I would be 100% happy. That DID NOT happen in Twilight Princess. The only thing that changed was the Wii controller mechanics. The overworld wasn't that big, there was a pitiful lack of sidequests and it was just a copy of Ocarina of Time basically. They need to go more in the direction of Majora's Mask, but with a far more expansive playable area.
