Fingerpicking?

I've been trying to learn how to fingerpick recently, to try something new. After the first few basic lessons (the C chord thingies) there seems to be nothing else. So... what else can I do?

shit, couldn't get the spacing to work, anyways then I would just suggest the stones song Angie or the Beatles' Blackbird to learn the whole plucking the thumb and some other finger at the same time. Also the tabs for Wind Scene here have alot of varying difficulties

Learn some Andy McKee if you wanna test yourself :D

I've tried to get out of the habit of keeping my little finger on the body, but im not sure if thats a bad thing. I find keeping a flow to songs the most difficult when playing so always hold notes for the right amount of time and try not to mute strings by accident.

Try the spanish picking style (dont know the technical name for it) but ya use Thumb,Wedding,Middle,Index in that order.

yeah lol I can't play it at 50%. I just tell myself it's my lack of nails with my picking hand but I'll have to face the harsh truth that im not good enough yet :( . Still a cool technique though :D I've saw videos of people playing it and its utterly demoralizing but at the same time its inspiring to watch. But hey,I have all of my life to get better :D Even though a lifetime may not be enough to be good enough for that >_<.

That tremolo stuff is really tricky. I remember ron posted a tremolo version of Innocent Sea awhile back. This is the non tremolo version of it. Fun to play I think.

I learnt from a youtube video that taught me how to play tears in heaven. As for nails I have to keep them as short as possible because I seem to stroke the strings kinda diagonally towards my right shoulder and with long nails the strings tend to get caught in the gap between nail and finger.

P.S: can anyone tell me if that diagonal picking is a bad thing?

The diagonal picking is fine if the guitar is positioned in classical position (body resting on left leg, which is slightly elevated) since that keeps the motion natural. the motion of the stroke should be towards the top of the bridge. Avoid overdoing it though, since you can get a "slicey" sound if the nail slides on the string too much.
