Yes, the second voice is an octave higher during that verse. The way you have it written with two seperate staffs is fine. However, later on in the song, the voices are typically a third apart. This starts at 1:35, I'm not completely sure if the second voice is accurate, but this is just to illustrate |e--10-10-10-10-----11--10--------10--------------------------------------- |B--------------13------------13------13----11----13----11--10------------- |G------------------------------------------------------------------------- |D------------------------------------------------------------------------- |A------------------------------------------------------------------------- |E------------------------------------------------------------------------- | |e------------------------------------------------------------------------- |B--11-11-11-11-10--11--11----10--11--10----------10----------------------- |G------------------------------------------12----------12--10------------- |D------------------------------------------------------------------------- |A------------------------------------------------------------------------- |E------------------------------------------------------------------------- |e------------------------------------------------------------------------- |B--12----10--13--12----10--12--10----------10----12----------------------- |G------------------------------------12----------------------------------- |D------------------------------------------------------------------------- |A------------------------------------------------------------------------- |E------------------------------------------------------------------------- | |e------------------------------------------------------------------------- |B------------------------------------------10----12----------------------- |G--12--------14--12--------12--------12----------------------------------- |D--------14------------14------14----------------------------------------- |A------------------------------------------------------------------------- |E------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you want to write out the second voice, then you can write it like this or just make a second guitar tab for the second voice below the first.

Thank you! I think I'll keep it as a two-tracked one in these spots. But I think this will be most troublesome to tab, I always have trouble with harmonies. Maybe this excursion will fix that. |

The second part of the first verse is bugging the hell out of me, I haven't touched it for weeks because of it. I believe (and please tell me now if I'm terribly off base with this) that it's an octave harmony, and I currently have it tabbed down like this in 2 parts
|e-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|B-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|G---------8--8-7---------------------------7------------------------------
|D--10--10---------10--10-8--10--10----8-10--------------------------------
|A-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|E-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
|e--8--8-11--11-10--8--8-----8--8-------8-10-------------------------------
|B-----------------------11----------11------------------------------------
|G-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|D-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|A-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|E-------------------------------------------------------------------------
But I'd really like to put it into 1 single line, as I'm not (planning to, at least,) writing a duet, and thats hard as hell to read. Putting it together though gives these spacing monstrosities, specifically how everything was nicely 1 or 2 spaces, now the octave higher portion has 3 or none because of occasional 2 characters instead of 1 per note.
e--8---8--11-1110-8---8-----8---8-------8--10-----------------------------
B------------------------11-----------11----------------------------------
G---------8--8-7---------------------------7------------------------------
D--10--10---------10--10-8--10--10----8-10--------------------------------
A-------------------------------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I see it, I have 4 options. I could leave it as is, in 2 lines. Possibly switch them so the higher portion reads first. I could switch around the frets so theyre all greater than 10, but thats not so fun to play. I could double my - spacing, but that still leaves the awkward 3 (now 5) spacing. Or I could normalize the spacing and learn how to time the notes. Which I really do not want to do, I've never done timing in my life before, although I am familiar with it.
Can anyone think of a fifth solution? Or please help with applications of eighth notes?
