Picking out the bassline

Hey, Auriplane,

I love your tabs, and I recently started working on bass guitar. I think it sounds fucking awesome, especially when you can just pound a bass note and let it ring. But, anyway, I'm having trouble picking out the bassline in the recording of this song. Any tips?

Well, in some CT songs it's kind of tough, because the bass and timpani often play together, or similar parts. In this particular, the timpani plays the same notes as the bass most of the time, but with a different rhythm.

I don't really know what tips to give, but make sure you're listening on speakers that don't cut out the bass (like laptop speakers), and don't cut out the mids either, because those are essential to being able to hear bass well. (When a song is mixed with the mids totally cut on bass, it can be hard to transcribe . . . ) I usually leave EQ flat for transcribing. I don't know if any of that will help you though ^-^;
