wow, i really figured this

wow, i really figured this woulda been done already.
i'm gonna take a crack at it, if anyone else is already/wants to, then by all means, you'd probably be done months ahead of me.

watch for it in the wip's rather than the sub's, for now. i'll comment here if i get it going.

Huh. For some reason, I

Huh. For some reason, I thought Jacob tabbed this.

i tabbed the opening part but

i tabbed the opening part but i never got around to finishing the bombing mission part, mostly because i didnt like how the opening part sounded XD;

i've got the first half of

i've got the first half of the opening part done last night. [aka the easy part]
jacob, did you not like the song itself or the tab you did of it?

both really, but more my tab,

both really, but more my tab, and only the opening part
bombing part is cool

heres what i had before i

heres what i had before i quit

at least the drums dont suck too much

thanks, i appreciate it! ha,

thanks, i appreciate it!
ha, i went the the bar right before the crash where the "opening" really kicks in, cos i wanted to see if i shouldn't have just cut it to 2/4.
and that's what you did too :D

also, i was thinking i held the first lead note (that starts with same cymbal crash) too long, it just didn't sound right.
so upon getting yours, i was like "cool, he got it right on! i'll just copy that duration..."
and yeah it was the same too. well, besides song tempo (100 vs 102) weird thing is, now mine sounds right. O_o

again, thanks. for the drums, for a good way to do that droning high E, and for the knowledge of the tempo change and triplets in the bombing part, THAT would have taken me a day of trying to get it to work in the previous tempo to figure it out.

another reason why i quit

another reason why i quit tabbing it is because plane told me the time signature was 12/16.....XD
it completely messed up my e thingy when i changed it to that, didnt feel right to play it anymore and ruined it for me, so since this is just a tab i suggest you ignore everything i just said XD

The bassy part, that goes

The bassy part, that goes like this:

G |------------------------|------------------------|
D |------------------------|--------------------6---|
A |5-7-8-7-------6-5-------|5-7-8-7-------6-5-------| x4
E |--------8-5-6-----5-4-8-|--------8-5-6-----5---4-|

That's the part that's in compound time. If compound time (12/8 or 12/16) ruins it for you somehow, just put it in 4/4 and use triplets. But they're (basically) the same thing.

(doesn't include intro)

thanks peoples!! just

thanks peoples!! just finished up transcribing the opening theme part [i think, tell me if i'm not or wrong anywhere], still need todo the bombing part and arrange it all for guitar/bass, but the bomb part will be easier thanks to y'all.

here's ff7's opening theme w/o bombing mission

You're missing most of the

You're missing most of the strings voices that come in gradually (at 0:25, 0:30, and 0:34), and I'd make the echoes quieter :-) I think I figured it out before but I can't find the file...

The strings play chords at :49 and :54 too.

thanks, guess i need to

thanks, guess i need to listen with headphones. i sux at chords though i'll give it a shot. and the echo, yeah it's a bit loud but when i had it lower i couldn't hear it at all... granted that's about the level they are in the song.
thanks for all the help!

did not realize how long it's

did not realize how long it's been since i hiatus'd this, thanks to work, and olremix, and the tune contests here, and blood omnicide music project, and bathroom breaks...
i shall complete it!
...but not right now. right now i sleep.

You can rip the MIDIs from

You can rip the MIDIs from FF7 PC, if it helps, from the LGP files. There's a zip of them on this site.

Here's just the opening: Bombing Mission.

The MIDIs they got for the PC port were from a beta of the PSX version, so there might be small differences, and it might also sound a little funny due to the different samples used, but it should at least help you with anything you can't figure out.

thanks! the one hosted on

thanks! the one hosted on your site didn't work, but i got it off the other. definitely pushes it up the to do list!

Oh, I must have typed it

Oh, I must have typed it wrong. Oh well, no matter now. :-)

ha, i like how in that midi,

ha, i like how in that midi, the echo of the tinklies in the opening is the fretless bass used for the driving riff in the bombing part :D

and since there's apparently already midi's of it out there i no longer feel compelled to midi-out the whole thing osv and can just work on arranging it.

Or you can watch this guy's

Or you can watch this guy's awesome cover of it and learn it from watching it over

Edit: He even has tabs on his site.
