This was recorded with a guitar from Wal-Mart.

If you turn the volume down halfway it doesn't sound so Wal-Mart-ey.
Ha, no it actually sounds really good when you turn it down a bit.

I gotta give you a 5 for getting it to sound this good.

Were the factory strings made from corduroy or hair weave? hahaha

EDIT: Ya, I was jammin' to some music too loud on YouTube haha
But the Wal-Mart guitar sounds tight, it gives it a unique sound. I like it! :-)

Well, I don't intend for people to listen to this at full volume or anything. I know I never turn my speakers up all the way while listening to music. Also, I'd like to apologize to anybody that listens to this on laptop speakers, because that's what I'm listening on now, and it sounds considerably less good on laptop speakers compared to regular computer speakers or a decent set of headphones.

This recording just started off as a test to see if I could get a decent recording out of the Wal-Mart guitar, and I was liking what I was recording, so I decided to do the whole thing. What I like is that you can easily hear each different part in the song. I recorded every part that's in the actual song (except for the percussion and moaning ghost noises), so it wound up being like 6 or 7 guitar parts total.

I didn't realize you were

I didn't realize you were into acoustic too, I thought you and plane were more electric-y people.

Also I have a terrible ear and dont know shit but is that fret buzz? It kind of sounds like it at parts and its kinda ugly to me.

On an unrelated note how do you record/where do you place your mic? It sounds like you have a decent mic its just the wal-mart guitar that makes it not so pretty.

Sorry not trying to poop on your recording I really liked it and I hope to see more acousticy stuff from you or plane in the future :).

That's the sound of a piezoelectric pickup. It doesn't sound as nice as a mic, but it has the advantage that you don't have to record a bad room, if a bad room is the only kind you have.

I kind of want to build a DIY gobo and record some acoustic stuff with my cheap SDC. I really like the sound better than piezo stuff, but my room sounds kinda terrible.

I actually like the sound of the mic, but hey what do I know! The only mic I have to record with is either the shitty one built into my terrible camera or my headset (which is hard to position in a way that picks anything up decently).

Well, it's not a mic. It's another kind of transducer--that is, it's a pickup, kinda like an electric guitar.

Hehe, I'll do more acousticky stuff! I'm not too good at it, but that's never stopped me before.

I just have to think of something to record @[email protected] Fingerstyle or multitrack, I don't really care which (or a mix!)

Yeah, I don't know how to get

Yeah, I don't know how to get rid of the annoying buzzing and ringing sounds that I sometimes get when recording (especially acoustic and bass tracks). But like Auriplane said, I didn't use a mic. I recorded by actually plugging the acoustic guitar into my foot pedal and just recording in bypass mode (so there weren't any effects on it or anything). Even if I had a high quality mic, I would have that room problem that Auriplane is talking about (plus occasional sounds from cats and dogs).
