Is that an SR505BM? It looks like it, but a bit different (different year?). What bass is it?? It's driving me crazy XD
Anyway, I'm rating this 4s because I think it's kind of cool, and I like straight covers in general. But I'm going to give criticism because you asked for it!
It's a bit sloppy and there are some mistakes in the playing. The arrangement feels empty, partially because there's no drums. Add drums! Even with drums it would be a bit sparse, though. I'd work on the arrangement, and make sure you can play all the parts before you record. If you mess up a part, re-record. If you're messing up every time, practice and come back to it :-)
Don't chop off sound in the middle of a wave. It makes click sounds. Leave silence on either end of your playing, and cut it off in the silence. (Or cross-fade to silence, or to the other clip, or whatever, just don't cut it off so there's a click.)
It's totally driving me
It's totally driving me crazy. I know it's some other bass, but it looks a lot like it XD

"But I'm going to give criticism because you asked for it!"
I'm sure had they said nothing you would have given no criticisms :)
Yup. I wouldn't have.
Yup. I wouldn't have.
Hmm, I must have pissed you
Hmm, I must have pissed you off at some point, since you're trolling me with this repeatedly. I was just going to leave it with a counterassertion, but I'm not comfortable with the conflict here, so I guess I'll actually defend myself:
I watched all of this guy's videos, and I never offered criticism until he asked for it. Go check the other video descriptions. I occasionally offer unsolicited criticism, but not usually. Usually, I stick to people who:
1. Ask for it or seem receptive to criticism from others;
2. Seem self-confident enough that I don't think it'll bother them whatever I say;
3. Post in the submissions or WIP forums (by convention, posting in either forum is asking someone to check your work);
4. Really irritate me.
Four is, perhaps, not totally admirable, but I'm being honest here so I have to include it. Currently, you're really irritating me, so I'm going to give you some criticism: you're being really irritating. Quit it.

Holy hell, I think you are reading way too much into what I post. I'm not pissed at you, and I only posted about it twice. I just think you can be a little overcritical at times and some of the feedback you give out is unsolicited or launched off the tiniest opening. It always feels like you're trying to prove that you're smarter than everyone else by trying to correct people all the time.
Any rate, I didn't think you'd flip out on me that much, yeesh.

Well, let me break it down for you:
1. You said I lied. That's the sort of insult I level at someone I'm pissed at (for example, because they lied). So I assumed the same of you. I tried to demonstrate that I didn't lie.
2. Separately from that, you're making a point about my behavior. It's a stupid point, but I get it.
Point 2 is not worth arguing with. Point 1, though, I'll take seriously. If it seems like I "flipped out" to you, I can only conclude it's because you don't bother with the concept of honor in your daily life :-P
haha nice discussion guys
haha nice discussion guys ;D
thanks for the criticism, maybe it's not too bad if you are a bit nit-picking at some points^^
i already worked on drums and my following videos will include some ;)
also i have to say that i don't want to change the arrangement from the real track too much. so i'm just trying to kind of reproduce the old videogame tracks with my instruments
because they are awesome as they are ^^
the bass was pretty tricky especially on this one, maybe i should have practiced more gotta admit that ;)
ah and btw:
my guitar is an esp/ltd Viper-100FM and my bass an esp/ltd D-5, pretty awesome instruments^^
and i haven't got problems with criticism so just post what you think about my videos and maybe add some helpfull hints as you did here
Man, it looks SO similar, but
Man, it looks SO similar, but it's totally different. Let me show you why it was driving me crazy:
That was my second bass, so I was like, "hey it LOOKS like my bass! Except 5 strings. Wait a sec, it's not quite the same..." Well, I actually have pretty bad eyesight. But I found a giant picture of your bass now that you said what it is, and I can see all the differences now. And I'm looking at it, and it looks really awesome XD It sounds like a good bass, too :-D I'm jealous XD
Sorry, but Auri is smarter
Sorry, but Auri is smarter than most of us ;) And I always enjoy some constructive criticism, but then again I always enjoy some compliments along with it :) Also great job with this song! Auri's right, drums and maybe even some rhythm guitar would sound AWESOME!
I think I owe more to
I think I owe more to critique than complements when it comes to being a better musician.
Unsolicited or not, you throw a video/tab/song publicly online it leaves your jurisdiction of controlling what you want to hear about it.
I any case, I can be much more harsh than auri will ever be when it comes to that sort of thing. Not to mention that sometimes I just plain don't care to even comment. Just be glad there's still people critiquing eh?
I think i've called people
I think i've called people garbage and mocked their practice routines .Of course, i'd only do that with someone annoying. but yeah critique isn't pretty anyways. constructive or not, nobody likes to hear that they're doing something wrong lol, so I don't even bother to comment most of the time, because I'm brutlly honest when it comes to this lol, no point in discouraging someone chill who just wants to have fun. but yeah I think Auriplane does a pretty decent job at remaining civil,regardless of who asks. and like Surreal said, when you put your work out there you can't expect to just receive nice comments all the time. sometimes even if you actually did a great work, someone will still find a flaw.
Hey, I appreciated the brief
Hey, I appreciated the brief bit of criticism I got from you :-) You told me about expressiveness, and working on vibrato, bends, and pinch harmonics. I remember that, and I've been working on them. (I still suck, but a bit less.)
