I think it means that it's a ghost note. Atleat according to the PowerTab legend, and to me this tab seems like it's generated with PowerTab. It just means that you're not supposed to actually hit the note again, just let it ring longer. For example if you have a 4th note and then a 8th ghost note right after it, it means that you have to play one note, the time value of which is equal to 4th + 8th note.

no, what you're thinking of is a tie. a ghost note, in terms of the guitar, is a note on the lower end of the volume scale.

For example, if the volume of a piece is 1-2-3-4-5 where 1 is softest and 5 is loudest and the normal volume for notes is around 3, then 4 is a slight accent while 5 is a hard accent, and in reverse, 1 would be a ghosted note. It's a note that is played very VERY softly, almost to the point of not being played at all, but not quite.

EDIT: Bah, since I edited the post I can't see when I made this original comment. This was the first song I tried to learn when learning guitar(but not this arrangement). Not long after I found this arrangement and it's just something that's always been on the back burner for ages. I'd fought and struggled with it for a long time and I just now finally got a hang of it. Still not super fluid or memorized but goddamn it's crazy to see how all the little tricks and things I learned over the last two years allowed me to chip at this arrangement. Too bad I don't have a better recording setup or I might be more motivated to get it into a recordable state.

Thank you Stamen for making such a great arrangement, wherever you are bro :)
