I think there is a mistake in the very first measure when listening to the midi there is no pause after the first note. "Auri" you mind checking this out? http://www.gametabs.net/higurashi-no-naku-koro-ni/you

Yeah, the blank space there looks like what Guitar Pro inserts when you have text added above the first measure. It widens the note until the text fits. So, I guess their GP5 has text, but they deleted it from the TXT file.

Actually, looking at the GP5, it says "Capo 1, Standard Tuning" there, so that's what happened. Like this:
