Cute song! :-) This song is in D Mixolydian, so you can set the key signature to G Major (one sharp) in Guitar Pro. There are other little things you could do if you wanted. You can bar the notes to indicate 3/4 time (since Guitar Pro seems to have failed to do so itself). In measures 17 and 18, the rhythm is slightly off because you made room for the grace notes at the beginning. You could fix that by using the grace note feature (make sure you pick "on the beat"). You can split bass notes onto the bottom voice. You can set double barlines every 8 bars to indicate the structure of the music, and you can also get rid of the repeating sections by using 1st/2nd ending notation. All this stuff basically helps to make the sheet music easier to read, so if you aren't particularly concerned about the sheet music in the PDF, it doesn't matter too much :-) I did make a version showing you the sort of changes you could do: naru.zip ← revised version You don't have to use any of the changes I made, of course. I just thought I'd show you what I meant :-) By the way, if you were willing to use open strings a little more, you could make the tab just a little bit easier to play. I can understand why you might not want to, though.

Thanks!

Cheers a bunch for the pointers Auri, there's a couple of things i was unaware of in there (dual voicings in tuxguitar and grace note functions particularly) that will be a great help moving forward. Likewise with the repeats, i'd left them out to preserve the ease of exporting the GP5 to a .txt file but i can see how they'd be an important addition for the sheet music. You've given me plenty to think about so thank you!

Tab works great on Capo 2

Late reply but I thought I'd chime in as well. Cool tab and fun to play. I wanted to let you know that it works out great with a capo on the 2nd fret. I transposed auriplane's edited gp5 and here's the result: I moved the bass note in bar 8 down an octave for playability. ^^ auriplane posted some good advice up there. The tab definitely looks better with the grace notes for the quick hammer-ons. I don't know how to figure out the song keys myself and I don't like using with multiple voices (unless I have to) because sometimes the result can look messy and it's a pain to edit lol. And I know what you mean about the alternate ending repeats because I have to manually edit those into the txt files I export. Thanks for the tab! Cool song and fun to play. I'll be checking out any others you post.

Good catch

Cheers Mecha, great catch on the capo use and that edit looks and plays real nice. Cuts out a lot of the stretches that might've caused some trouble . Is there any specific aspect of a song you look at when evaluating whether it would suit a capo (bass notes, recurring 7th fret notes in this piece etc.)? It never occured to me to place a capo there is all

I have a bunch of custom transpose tunings for GP
MechaKrauserJoined: Sep 04 2014 |
I have custom tunings programmed into Guitar Pro to transpose the track to capo positions 1-8, and also 1 octave up and down. I'll share them in a gp5 file: Just open up each track's tuning and add it to Guitar Pro's tuning list with the "+" button and name them according to each track's respective name. Then you can open up a tab and change the track's tuning to a specific capo position and transpose it to see the results. If the result looks promising just change it back to standard (without transposing, to preserve the note positions) and add the capo. You can also use it to transpose a track from a capo position to standard. If the track requires a capo on 2 for example, just change the track to Capo 2 Tuning (without transposing) and remove the capo tag. Then change it to Standard Tuning and transpose it then. I always start out my tabs in standard tuning and I'll cycle through capo positions after I've figured out enough of the song to begin planning the fingerstyle arrangement. I find it very useful while tabbing :)

I'm planning on doing a few more arrangements as well, so anybody feel free to let me know whether you have any problems with the tab layout/readability/playability etc.
