Tune Contest 69! (Finally) - The Legendary Island of Uzüb Gedirdi

Thecoolestnerdguy

Deep inside, they were all afraid of the ambitious choice they had made, and its possible consequences ... If they only hadn't made a decision so abruptly!
They came to the mutual and silent consensus, however, that there was no room for regrets. They had nowhere to run now.
Even though they had little to no control over the ship's heading, nightly analysis at the lustrous sky confirmed that the ship was going in the desired direction, indeed.
This could only mean, they concluded, that the legends about Uzüb Gedirdi were right! The gravitational field of the legendary island was pulling their ship! Or maybe the shapeless and indecisive winds had brought them there?
They wanted to believe, but the odds were against them. There was anguish and doubt floating in each one of their minds.
In one fateful Wednesday, early in the morning, a scream was heard from someone claiming to have seen solid (or in this case, floating) land!
The ship was filled with ecstasy! Would this be the beginning of the great adventure they so deeply aspired to? How could this island have remained inhospitable to humans for so long? What sort of magical items would they find there?
Amid so many questions, they had only one thing certain in their hearts: they were prepared to meet the elves!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~**~*~**~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~

First of guys, thank you so much for the last contest! It was a lot of fun making that song, and I was really surprised for having being selected among so many great entries!

After reading tiger's intro to the last contest, I really got fascinated by the narrative he told. Flying ships... magic... steampunk... that definitely floats my boat (pun intended)!
I started trying to imagine what would be the next logical step in our heroes adventure. Well, they would have to dock somewhere eventually to restock their ship, right? But having escaped from the Great City with a stolen ship would probably make all the other cities out of question.
So, where could they dock their floating ship...?
In a floating island, of course!

But every respectable floating island needs to have some sort of magical items or being on it. What type of magical being would be friendly and smart enough to help them in their journey?
Oh, elves, of course!

When I shared my ideas with Hashel, he immediately thought of some kind of deep woods, maybe akin from a Zelda game?
The first thing that jumps into my mind when I think about a floating island tho is the Angel Island.

Will you do a jumpy "jungle" theme? A peaceful village theme? A happy fluty theme reminiscent of Ocarina of Time?

I have no idea... but whatever you do, have fun! :D

The only rule I was instructed into imposing is that entries should be longer than one minute. I have no idea about deadlines tho... The last contest was supposed to last three weeks, but it lasted a couple of months instead, apparently?

This sounds really cool! Hmm

Don't underestimate yourself! Also, I think it's a bit easier to compose something and trying to be original than it is to compose something and trying to imitate someone else. Just my opinion ;)

About that, I've been looking over the compilation for the previous contests that you provided and there are some songs missing for various reasons. I was going to go ahead and put together a video for each contest despite the missing songs, but decided that I didn't want to do it when there are songs that would be missing. It just feels incomplete. I could do the more recent contests, but that will depend on whether or not people want their songs posted to youtube. I'd need their permission.

-nods- I just gotta make sure everyone who enters is okay with me putting their track up on youtube. I know there are a few that upload to soundcloud and have the download button disabled. While I could just download the track by other means, I'd definitely rather ask them for permission and have them provide me with the track if they are ok with doing that.

It's more a cutscene music, when the heroes in their Airship arrives before the gigantic golden gates of the Sky City of Uzüb Gedirdi and when they slowly "sail" into the city.
This city is made of silver and gold, the houses and towers are between pure white clouds and inhabited by High Elves. It is also full of emerald green luxurious vegetation, with paths of white marble.
Well it's a majestic place in the clouds with luxurious vegetation XD
I hope it fits the theme ^^'
Some crappy VST for the choirs ~___~
Also it's a bit short, sorry :X
Btw here is the .wav file, if needed: http://www.mediafire.com/listen/y6hcj65xzrt6ya2/The_Majestic_Sky_City.wav

Well, three weeks it is then!

You have until the last moment of September 18th to finish your song!

I think setting the deadline in UTC time would be the fairest for everyone. That way, no one has more than 12 hours of "advantage". Whatcha think?

Ha nothing to be ashamed of Sheldon these contents are a good way to work on your writing, and these contests are not so much about the quality of the recording but how well you can write to the theme.

So even something very simple can win out against a full orchestrated track, they are also a good way to track your progress so I encourage you to continue joining in when you can. :)
