Hey archard is it possible to have an auto scroll for the tabs? Just wondering because it would be really nice just to play and have the page scroll down while your play a piece.

They only way I know of this being possible is if the music is in scorch format. They have viewers that will scroll along the sheet music while it's playing. You can even do stuff like change the key, tempo, etc.

Problem is that you would need the music in scorch format. I think finale (might) export that filetype but guitarpro doesn't.

This can be done in javascript fairly easily :-)

Here, I wrote a tiny bit of JS to do it. Here is a demo:

Archard, you can use that if it helps ^-^ Here is the JS: http://www.xtalcy.com/autoscroll.js

(Ignore the web page, I just used it because already had CSS + enough stuff to make the page scroll down. Just click the scroll links at the top.)

Hey Vic,

Are you still using Opera? I actually made it into an Opera UserJS file so I can use the scrolling thing on any page. So I figured I'd share it here. If you want to use it too, you have to turn UserJS on in opera, as detailed here: http://www.opera.com/browser/tutorials/userjs/using/

First, enable UserJS in opera, like this.

1. Make a directory to put userjs files in, like: C:\userjs
2. Go to Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Content > JavaScript options.
3. Where it says "User Javascript files", there's a blank space. You can enter C:\userjs there.

Now UserJS is enabled, and you can install UserJS files.

4. Go here: http://auriplane.net/operaUserjs/
5. Right-click on autoscroll.js, and save the file to your userjs directory.
6. Reload a webpage.

Now you should be able to hit ctrl-number to make the page scroll. Ctrl-1 is slowest, Ctrl-9 is fastest. Press it again to make it stop.

(Well, if you don't want this, hopefully someone does, 'cause I took the time to type it up . . . XD But I'm enjoying autoscroll ^-^)

Ok, I've implemented the autoscroll. I just have it set to use the 1, 3 and 5 speeds from auriplane's script. For now I'll leave it like that and see what people say about it and change accordingly. Let me know what you guys think.

Feel free to. The way I did it was I just had an empty div load with the page, and then populate it when the auto scroll buttons are clicked. Then use position:fixed, bottom:10px, right:10px on the div.

I used to alway hate during the middle of a wonderful song to have to stop, move the mouse, click and drag, and then try to remember were I was last at...sometimes I would have to do this multiple times.
Anyways...THAN YOU VERY VERY MUCH! This will make playing guitar tabs easier without having to stop during it.
As always, keep up the wonderful work. This website is AWESOME.
