Hey everyone. It is I, Rattyboy Blue heralding epic news to the masses!
A Gametabs convention. What do people think? Who would like to attend?
We are just planning this at the moment, and we would like to know who would be on board and such. This will not be for a while, so do not worry.
Any ideas, questions, comments, suggestions, etc need to be posted here.

I approve of this.

Not that it wouldn't be great, but given the relative few active members here (and I couldn't even count myself really), coupled with my (perhaps foolish) assumption that most are probably students or at least not financially endowed to cover great distances, again coupled with the enourmous geographical spread you are bound to find between the members here, it sounds unlikely to me. But yeah, would probably be awesome.

Orusaka is the voice of reason. Not that we couldn't have a GameTabs convention, but I would like to propose an interim alternative:

Let's all go to MAGFest this year: http://magfest.org/

Just throwing it out there.

That's a great idea. My friend and I were already thinking about going there, as we live pretty close. I know OCReMix is gonna be there as well. If any of you guys are coming let me know.

I've never heard of this MAGfest, but it sounds fun. It's at an odd time for me, but maybe I could make it. Is anyone already going for sure?

It's right down the street from me, and it's happening when I won't be in school. So chances are that I will attend.

It's in Alexandria, VA, which is just south of DC. In fact it's practically the same city.

I can't make magfest this year, but if this became a tradition, maybe we could get our own booth or time slot or something.
I think raiding other conventions is a great idea though!

Meeting up at a place like that would be a pretty cool idea. I can't make it, but that's not to say I couldn't ever make it sometime in the future. The thing that has my interest perked is the whole open mic and band thing. For some reason I can definitely picture the members here who can go performing pieces for duet, trio, quartet, however many as are there. Hell, make some free gametabs.net t-shirts to hand out and you've got some serious publicity for the site.

Plus that'd be one more excuse to go to Europe. I'm in! ;)

Also, I like the idea of a meet-up of some kind. It's just difficult for me right now with the new job. I'm still trying to figure out how my finances are going to look. I live in the middle of the country (Oklahoma) so I would doubtless have to fly somewhere to get to one of these things. And since I'd have to make a fairly big trip, it might be difficult to justify unless we latched on to Magfest, PAX or something like that (probably Magfest, since their site claims to have a big focus on game music).

To share some MAGFest magic, here are some recordings of the music that happens there:

Some recordings from MAGFest 2 -- VERY Humble beginnings [Recommended: Do NOT listen to DJ POTATO]

Recordings of concerts from MAGFest 3 -- Excuse all the Borat impressions, this was 2004 after all. [Recommended: Smash Bros., Temp_Sound_Solutions, Minibosses]

Giant pile of recordings from the Jamspace at MAGFest 6

More MAGFest 6 stuff

(not my hosting, but feel free to rape it anyways.)

oh lawdy.

I just spawned a concept idea. Suppose that we do somehow get a booth at magfest or whatever convention. Suppose we pull us a sponsor or two through some miracle. Sponsor covers expenses for like 3 slots (people) to get to the convention. We choose different people to fill each slot, etc etc.

It's a pipe dream, but hey, stranger stuff has happened.
