As much as I see Jacob's point... need any writers? That is what I do, haha. I could interview some of the tabbers or something.

As long as it's a for-fun novel way of spotlighting excellent tabs, and perhaps the occational article about tabbing etc., why not. Sounds like it would be a fun read. Just as long as it isn't meant as some sort of way for people to make money off of tabs, because while I think sharing your arrangements of other's work is fine, taking money for it would just be wrong.

Absolutely, Orusaka. There's no way I think anyone should make money off this.

I just love to write. Haha.

Not to mention probably a bit less than legal.

I think the idea of an online magazine sounds cool. However, I think that it would be better to use that energy to promote Gametabs.net and do more on the site: more front page news and articles, more participation in the forums (espcially tab specific ones like 'Works in Progress'), etc. I'm afraid that if we start something like an e-zine we'll end up splitting people's attention. I think the community would be better served if we found ways to focus attention on the site instead.

So many aspects of internet culture are far too fractured in my opinion. I have friends on at least 3 different social networking sites. I have friends on 4 different instant messaging programs. There's too much separation. I'm just thinking it'd be great to just focus on making this site the best it can be. And yeah, I realize this is coming from someone who hasn't been around much and hasn't posted very often, but I really love this site and I plan on being much more involved now that life has sort of settled a bit again.

Just my two cents.

That makes sense. No matter how it goes down, I would love to do some writing for the site. I think it's a really nice place. =)

no no guys there will not be a subscription fee or anything like that. This will be a free download it will have stuff like interviews with tabbers, Tech talk (guitar gear and such), rants and raves, possible interviews with video game composers, FAQs, indepth with kabuki for arrangeing tips, indepth with auri for mixing tips and stuff if there willing to do so and there are many other tabbers who we can ask. Strings of the month steel and nylon Classical guitar tips, eletric guitar tips maybe throw in a tab or two just things to make a fun read for people who vist the site.

Oh, I didn't think there would be a fee or anything. And believe me when I say that all those ideas sound GREAT, because they do! All I'm saying is that I don't understand why there needs to be a whole big new separate project to do this stuff. These are all things that could be done on the site, announced on the front page, and have their own special sections. Not only does that keep everything consistent, but it means people could start writing for these things almost right away.

Now I feel like an annoyingly broken record because I'm running out of ways to say what I'm thinking. This is why I'm a mathematician not a writer. :p

well thats the thing i dont really know how to get this ball rolling ummm i ran it by archard and he loved the idea I honestly wasnt expecting alot of support for this but hey look like plenty want to help out so i guess we got our selves a magazine. Maybe we could intergrade it into the site somehow like have its own section with a layout and we could add stuff to it like we do when we add the tabs. Archard would have to look into that.

I have an idea. If he's down, I would like to go ahead and get started interviewing Archard. Who better for our kick-off interview? Other ideas:

- You mentioned in-depth with kabuki. I think that's a great idea. If not the bear, then there are tons of great tabbers on here. Surely one of them would discuss a little with us.

- We could integrate the GTYNP articles into this. Comments?

- Random kind of thing, but: hightlight a forum thread that is interesting/funny/whatever?

Anyway, just some little ideas in my head. I'll send a message to archard and see about getting some questions together for him. =)

Those are great ideas. And sure, I'd love to be interviewed.

I definitely want to integrate the GTYNP articles. Actually, back when I first started those articles I was hoping that there would be an interest from other users in writing similar articles, but there was hardly any at the time. Now it seems like people are much more interested in getting involved.

I don't think this has to be a separate entity from the site, like BinaryNova was warning us about. I'm thinking of it more as like a newsletter kind of thing. We're not actually gonna make a full fledged magazine for this. Rather, something that extends and enhances the current state of the site is what we should aim at. This site has all the capabilities to publish and archive articles in the standard news/blog site kind of way, so maybe we should do something like that. Either way I love the enthusiasm for this.

I think it would be a good idea, that any people that is member of gametabs community could send something to get the possibility to be in that magazine, obviously being agree to post by The magazine staff...
the reason of this is that I suspect that some people here could have a lot of knowledge about something that could be interesting for us to read ( in terms of music theory, or hardware software etc...)

I'd prefer the blog type of thing, where the articles are published continually, to a newsletter. Though, I mean, you could do both with the same articles.

well for my two cents I tend to agree with Binary. All the info and articles and stuff that would be in a newsletter could easily by in smaller blurbs on the frontpage that can be expanded for more info. Kind of like the way squaresound has their news set up. It's more a matter of having people to contribute content. You could even set up the news section with an rss feed so people like me can check them out straight from their homepage if they're not around the site.

Just seems to make more sense to keep things compact. Content is what you need, not vehicles for it. The site is more than enough.

::shrugs:: just my thought on the matter.

I agree. Magazine? Probably not. Newsletter-esque thing? Defnitely possible.

If it's not a problem I'd like to contribute to this in some way. I have a lot of time on my hands now so this should be A-OK for me. :)

We might need more members first, though. I mean we have a couple thousand members but how many of them are ACTUALLY active? Not very many of them. We're going to need something that'll have them visiting this site every day or two looking for updates.

A blog for you archard, if it's no problem, seems pretty cool. I always enjoy seeing what's going on in the lives of site administrators. No clue why...but I do. I guess a couple more people wouldn't hurt, too!

Anyways...those are just some of my ideas/opinions on this matter.
