Help? What do I do about my band???

I didn't know where this should go so move if needed...

ANYWAY - I need input about this...
So we rarely have practice because of conflicting schedules, but when we do have practice it only goes on for an hour to two... Which I think should be longer and we should have about 3 days a week. But that's not quite possible because our vocalist, Mike, has work a lot of the time and works the night shifts so he sometimes misses practice because he oversleeps, or he might not have enough money for gas to make it down to practice more than once a week, also he's out of school so all he does is work. But I know he'd love to actually practice more.
Our drummer, Oscar, would love to practice whenever but sometimes he can't because he has soccer, or his dad wont let us practice on sundays. But he's always willing to work on new stuff and getting stuff done.. But he's just about to go to England for a week for soccer...
But our bassist, Max, is kinda different... He says stuff like about him sacrificing stuff for the band but that's not true at all, because he has an obsession with his girlfriend... He thinks she's the best thing in the world and if he had to choose one person to be with the rest of his life it would be be her, yet she treats him like shit, she treats everyone like shit one time at a show we all went to she called Oscar a retard or dumbass or something for no reason, and then told me to shut the fuck up just because I said that I like this one band and Max just lets her do it.
But anyway Max always wants to cut practice short, because he says his parent's want him home for dinner which we all know isn't true.. Or just any other random excuse.
But to the point I guess... On monday we had practice the first time in a month and Mike and I wanted it to go on for a long time so when the other two were done we just sat down writing guitar stuff and Oscar was sitting in the other room half asleep slightly putting in his input, which was ok... But Max just sitting there texting his girlfriend occasionally going out and calling her, when he should have been writing bass shit to the guitar junk I was writing... He wasn't even saying if it sounded good or not he was just going around stomping on shit acting mad cause his parents wanted him home soon even though he was just going to go see his girlfriend.
And I think the only reason(s) that Mike and I haven't done anything about him really is cause his dad is basically willing to pay for anything for the band cause he's really happy about us wanting to pursue this (even though his own son doesn't do shit)... And also I think it'd be impossible to find another bassist in the area willing to tune down to F.
As for me in all this, I just got out of school and I don't have a job so I am free basically all the time, thing is though... I haven't had a reason to drive until now so I don't have my license, which is pretty embarrassing but yeah.
So what I'm asking is...
Do you guys know what I should do about all of this?
I might have forgotten to mention something so I'll post more if I remember.

The only way to fix this is kittens, lots and lots of kittens.

I'm in awe here. Kittens really are about 3 billion times cuter than human babies. Actually, I think human babies are pretty hideous, but the levels of cuteness emanating from those kittens may very well be lethal.

I think there is a lack of motivation.
Practice an instrument take many many time, have a band take even more.
It need a lot of will, I think you must have a debate with your mates.
Good luck :)

I agree...
But could you actually post something about the topic?

I'll do that.
Thanks for actually posting something on topic.

I'm going to give it to you bluntly.

If they're not willing to commit, leave, you'll never get anywhere. It doesn't matter if you have work, girlfriends, or sports to do, you still make the time to practice if you're committed to it.

Have a fucking band meeting, lay it down. Otherwise everyone is wasting their time.

I've been wanting to...
But last time we had something like that it was like we hadn't practiced a month already and then it was going to be another week.
Me and the vocalist said we're basically done until we get a set schedule and the bassist completely flipped and was saying all this stuff like "YOU'RE GIVING UP THAT EASILY?!" and was basically being all immature about it.

fuck that guy, if nobody is committing you're wasting time plain and simple.

If it were one guy not showing up, you replace him, but since it's the majority of the band flaking out, get the fuck out of it.

I know how the whole friends-constantly-texting-their-girlfriends thing goes. I've gotta say, it can be pretty damn annoying. Honestly, can these girls not go at least an hour or two without being in constant communication with their boyfriends? It's ridiculous.

Anyway, it sounds like your band is fucked. I'd say that you and this Mike fellow should just start doin' your own thing and try to find some other people to play with.

Well that'd be fine, I'd love to...
But as explained... I think it'd be a little difficult to find another bassist in the area willing to drop their tuning to F natural.

I wouldn't waste time with people that waste time.

Have you tried discussing about the bands plans while drinking some beers? I would.

Do you just mean F standard tuning? like F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb? What kinda gauge strinsg do you put on one of those to keep it from sounding like ass? I don't usually tune below drop-A, but I have pretty normal strings on basses with the low B.

My guitar =

The tuning is F-A#-D#-G#-C#-F#-A#-D#
The lowest string is a bass string.
So yeah basically what you're saying, the bass would be just as you say... Except without the high G
Sorry if I didn't clarify...
But yeah, I'm not sure I could find anyone in my area willing to go with that tuning.

Pretty guitar @_@

Some day I'd like an eight-string, B to A. Hm. Yours would be like B-E-A-D-G-C-E-A, down six steps? Ahh now I want one @_@

I know right. Right when I saw one I wanted it. The neck is wider than my bassists 5 string.

I mostly play my 5-string these days but I have a 6. 5 seems just about perfect for bass @_@;; But for guitar I'd love to go > 6. I just haven't yet ^-^;; (I'm mostly a bass player)

I'd like to get a 5 string if I had the money for my solo junk but I don't have enough money for that.
And yeah extended range guitars are great. My lowest string is an actual bass string.
