Post Your Music--The Original Compositions Thread!!!

I know a lot of you don't just transcribe and arrange music, but write entirely original music. I do! Kabuki does! Hsl does! And I know there are more of you out there.

I can post some of mine later on, but I want to hear what you guys have written!! Post your stuff! Youtube links or MP3s or whatever! And it's totally okay to repeat a link, if you linked it on the shoutbox before.

Well?? Get posting!! ;-)

Sorry if its not studio quality, didn't feel like rerecording

Not my style of music and it does kinda feel weird trying to play this on an Ibanez RG, so it's not that great or complex or whatever.

This is the first musical piece I ever composed from long ago.

I titled it "Life Is"

I wanted to make a song to be used by myself as a speed exercise, but I found myself trying to come up with something interesting for the intro. I wanted to see what I could do solely with the open harmonics on the 7th and 12th frets.

The rest is well, a lot like life, unnecessarily fast and abruptly ending.

Okay here's an old one I wrote that was inspired by breaking up with a gf who was completely insane. I was REALLY unhappy about it, as you can tell, lol. She had introduced me to Moto Perpetuo by Paganini so the irony of writing a "break up song," like this was so delicious I couldn't help it.

This was back when I thought repeating was a good way to lengthen a piece and when I had no idea how to write an ending.

enjoy!

I have to admit, I laughed a little when I heard it.

Sounds like it'd be a blast to play though.

here's another old one called "Vertigo"

A friend asked me to write a crazy drill and bass song with a classical edge so he could make some steps for stepmania. So, this is what I came up with after a few hours. Not great, it's my first step into drill and bass.

Here is the second musical piece I composed. It's titled "Fond Memories"

I wanted to write a really easy, chilled out song to play when I was around.

http://www.2shared.com/file/5210059/dd3d4da/Fond_Memories.html

It's in the same key of G Major as Life Is, but it's not very similar. Except for having a fast part <<.

Like my memories, this song seems to change a little every time I play it.

Well, here's a song I did a few years ago with keys + quantizing + editing. I did everything that way around then, and most of it ended up pretty lfieless . . .

A synthy song I wrote

So, that was in 2004. In 2005, I bought a bass, and decided that I could get better at live playing. Since then I realized I can play keys unquantized and it doesn't suck the life out of them :-) But I am in love with bass. I'd like to write more original stuff soon with completely different instrumentation.

Here is and arrangement of 2 of my "old" compositions but not in a OST Style.

It's made with GP6 !
I'll upload my other works later too :)

Now i'm really trying to compose Progressive Rock songs.
But i don't have enough musical knowledge or talent or patience to make Prog songs alone :X
(And i often make songs and imagine to put lyrics en them, but i don't write any lyrics so it sounds a bit empty ~~)

Hello :D

I made this song from a riff i used in a song for one of the old tune contest here.
It's a metal song, but the pinched harmonics sound sucks on GP6... (i'll do a recording when i'll sing the song is good enough)

So if you have some free times i'd lke to have your opinion about the song !
I'm not really happy with the solos mais i think the rhythm parts are ok :)

As i do have a bass now i can compose more descent bass lines ^^'
(I think i'm getting a bit better with drums too...)

But for the 2nd solo i think it would be better to make a shred solo but... i can't :/
Not sure if the transition from the tempo 100 to tempo 150 part is great...

Lots of messing with it. It can sound really good. I'm the only one on the artist list for GP that actually makes the program sound good. I have a few songs that are only GP6 and they sound really realistic.

I also really enjoyed The Bosom of Safety linked above. Really nice sound you got going, relaxing and meditative but with a certain edge to it. Some parts kinda vaguely reminded of some pieces from the Starcraft soundtracks (always liked those).

This song really shows off what GP6 can do. I think I'll submit it for GP7 when the time comes, tweek it with whatever GP7 has to offer. It's what I did for GP6, made a song in GP5, tweeked with GP6 then submitted it.

Arobas music gave me a free copy of GP6 because they liked my work and featured me because of it. Maybe they'll do it again.

I really wish I could stop working stupid jobs and become a real composer as my job.

I don't know if even the creators of GP6 know its potential. The example artists they choose for their program aren't very good.

I need to work on a bunch of songs I've done in the past. I have at least an album's worth of music, some this quality some needing updating. I started out using TablEdit and some of my stuff is still midi.
