I'm no expert on acoustics, but I would suggest researching the sounds certain types of woods have and then going to a shop and playing around with some until you find one that feels good. That's about the best thing you can do for yourself as everyone's opinion is different and you might get some very different responses.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. I just want to know whether or not it's smart of me to get a acoustic-standard as opposed to a classical.

Hey guys!
I've been playing "classical" arrangements for about a year, and I think I'm going to stick to it, as I can't even play an electric for more than 15 minutes without getting frustrated at the sound, lol. Anyways, I've been playing on my friend's classical guitar for about 3 months while he was on vacation. He came back and took it back.
I have 3 guitars right now. 2 electrics (Ibanez RG 370, or something, and a Yamaha Pacfica), and a really old, beaten down, Yamaha acoustic. And I mean it looks like absolute shite. Anyways, after playing around with it, I sort of enjoy the sound of metal strings to nylon.
I guess my question is... what should I get? A standard acoustic guitar, or a classical? If I get a standard-style acoustic, will I be hampered later on with finger picking? It's not a problem right now, but sometimes I accidentally brush strings with my thumb where I wouldn't on the classical (but I'm getting more adapt to it). I've only been playing on this one for about a week.
What are your opinions? Like I said, I prefer the sound and tone of a regular acoustic, but I play classical style music. I'm about an intermediate level right now (my friend says I'm about gr. 8 level in terms of skill, but I've never taken any types of lessons).
