What do you guys recommend?

Hmm.. I'm thinking of buying an electric guitar soon. Let say in about 3/4 months from now. But I'm not really into the electric guitars though. I'm not that good at playing as well.. But I do it for the fun.. anyways.. to get to the real point of this thread.

Mostly when you'll see a guitar and compare the prices, it means that how higher the price the guitar has, how higher the quality is (right?). Well I guess it doesn't say that much.
I'm going for a ES-335 model guitar, something jazzy. But I'm wondering, and yes here comes the question (finally). Should I buy a cheaper guitar or an expensive guitar.

I get something like 400 euros a month (screw the ways of money, lets say a guitar of 300 dollars is mostly 300 euro in Europe as well, just hold on that). But I can spare some money and can build up like 1600 euros in 4 months. Or should I just try out some guitars and choose which one plays for me the best. But I want some quality as well, I don't feel like tuning it all the time.

Well give me some opinions, what would you do, and why?

Well... i just started guitars myself, if it is your first electric guitar. it is a good idea not to spend over 800$ on your guitar...

i got an Ibanez RG2EX1 as my first guitar, for 299$, i like it :P

Everyone I talked to recommended a Fender strat or, as monkeymen said, an Ibanez.

I paid $200 (US) for my electric (amp, picks, carrying bag included), and I really regret not paying more. To put it bluntly, it's crap. My advice: be willing to spend some extra money for a quality guitar, and be willing to visit a guitar outlet if there's one nearby. Bought mine online so I didn't have a chance to test it before I bought it. Regret...

Well... I guess the model doesn't matter. But I guess I should stick with the one that plays the best when I try it out? However, it's hard to find a nice music store that actually has some models and variation of guitars. (The amp is no problem for now though, got one at home, I dunno why we've got it.. but doesn't matter for now.)

I have the same problem as Krimson

Its definitely worth going the extra mile with you electric

What I've heard:
Don't get under 75W amp
Buy from a brand you can trust
and maybe you should even try out the guitar before you buy

Amps will definately make or break your tone dude, and as to the 75 watt minimum comment, my amp is a 5watt blackheart halfstack with a 1x12 cab and the tone is outstanding and loud enough to play with a drummer, but to gig it would need miced most likely considering the size of the venue. For general purposes, a strat can cover most types of music, that said some instruments, although less versitle, kick strat's ass in certain sound types... take a less paul, that deep toned humbucker powered designed instrument better handles overdrive and is very deep and expressive clean. You should identify what sound you want, how about mention a song or an artist you would like to achive sounds similar to, because the way you worded this was completely confusing.

Dang, if you lived somewhere in the states, you could go to guitar center.

they sell EVERYTHING, and they always let you try out the guitar before you buy. and if you want a certain type of guitar, but they dont have it. they place an order for the guitar in front of your face.. you basicly watch them fill out the paper :P. you can also order from their website http://www.guitarcenter.com/

and also my guitar was at a sale. it was originally 599$ but they dropped the price to 299$

You've got to be glad you're not living here. The stores here are pretty minimum. Well I think I know what I'm about to do.. I'm gonna save some money first.. till I have a budget of 700 euros. Which give me some variation.. (And I'm not starting that expensive.. but it's handy for extra's and such). Then I'm going to search in some music stores here in my town and else I'm going somewhere else and test some guitars, which play nice and look nice for my own opinion..

I guess thats the best thing to do, not? I want a nice looking and playing guitar.. so I can feel happy with what I bought xD :)

What I would do is go to a guitar store and check out what guitar I would really want to get, then save up for that one. Its nice to go to a store and check out the guitars before you buy them. I got my Jackson KVX-10 for $600 in U.S. dollors (idk how many pounds) because I liked it way more than the $2000 flying V they had there. It played better and sounded better, in my opinion.

I would recommend either a Yamaha TroyVanLeeuwen Signature (about £600), an Epiphone Casino, or a Danelectro.

But really, don't get a confined guitar. If you buy an Archtop and suddenly want to play Metal, you're screwed. Get a good all-rounder guitar, such as an Ibanez entry-level GRG or a Strat, and pump pedals through it and a good amp.

I got my Jackson+Peavey combo for about £800, which is an awesome deal.

But really, whatever works best for you, feels right in your arms and is affordable, go for it. And don't forget to haggle. Best wishes. ;]

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it. And a jazz guitar fits me the most.. that the reason I want it.. and I'm not a fan of any kind of metal... :)
