Megaman 9

Hiya all. Now that Megaman 9 for the WiiWare and PS3 Network has been officially announced by Capcom at the latest E3, I have been going crazy out of excitement ever since. As this is a very untraditional move to make the game old skool like the early 8-bit Megamans, I thought I'd ought to ask for your opinions about this aswell. I'm sure I'm not the only Megaman fan lurking around these forums. =P

I, personally, think that this is probably the best choice if we'd have to pick from the NES (1-6), SNES (7, Megaman & Bass, X-X3), PSX (8, Legends, X4-X6) and PS2 (X7-X8) ones, and I doubt that they would've been able to come up with anything new and world-trembling with PS3/Wii/360 that would've fit in the genre, let alone the classic Megaman series. Even though I love all the SNES Megamans too, I still feel that the classic series was at it's best in the 8-bit era around Megaman 2-5. The X series is, of course, a totally different case. They whoop some serious butt, and I wouldn't mind having a semi old skool SNES style Megaman X game in the future. As somewhat related to this; I heard and read some rumours here and there that there would be a Megaman X9 for the PS3 (and very likely for 360 and/or Wii aswell) by the end of 2008. I'm probably dreaming way over my head with this one, but I just wish they'd follow the pattern they just established and make it the way the original Megaman X games were on the SNES. :> But most likely it's going to be the same 3D crap that the PS2 ones were. I never really got into those. Would like to play them through once though, atleast for the story. Now, I don't actually even own a PS3 yet, just PS2 (and PSX before that), and, no kidding, I seriously considered bying a PS3 just for Megaman 9 =P I'm still on the edge on that one though, but if they were to make a SNES style Megaman X9 for PS3, I would surely buy the console.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I'm really looking forward to the music too. Based on the trailers and such, sounds really cool and faithful to the original classic series' music style. The music has always been a huge part of my Megaman experiences. I don't think I would be even closely this big of a man that I am now with any Megaman in general, if it hadn't been for those kick-ass soundtracks.

I cannot confirm this but as far as I have been told (and I do a lot of beta testing so I know quite a bit about video games) but I have told by high sources that Megaman 9 is just something somebody bated by some small program and was never made by Capcom. Capcom just paid the person and called it their own. As I said before I cannot confirm this. Just rumors.

Yo! Finally! I was yearning for this one!

Seriously, I'm more the person who likes fast pace gameplay. :)

The 8-bit era Megaman series was just full of those fast gameplay moments, aswell were the first five X titles. But since then the Megaman series offered few good games... :(

The Mega Man series died along time ago (the WHOLE series).
Megaman 8 was a huge let-down due to it's kid friendly look and gameplay. The X series were torn apart with the release with X7 (and beyond), and the Megaman Zero series are an abomination. I don't think they can remake a better version of the originals. Pfff, and dude...Mario needs to DIE, seriously >,>

Haha, word. =P The truth is, though, that neither of those series (or characters, if you will) have actually really died, and probably never will. It's not about having sequels constantly made for them, it's about people still playing and loving those old games. The moment people will forget about Megaman / Mario and stop cherising those childhood memories (or adulthood for some) associated with them, that's when they are truly dead. Now isn't that profound!

Lol, I didn't mean Mega Man was dead for the world, just to me. Sorry, I'll be more specific =/ As for Mario, he's been dead to me for along time too. Aslong as they keep pluggin out these titles, and as long as they keep selling, Good for the company! I hope the just don't expect an award for these new generation games =/

Well, they actually got an award for galaxy XD. The thing I'm really sick of though, is all these first-person shooters sony and microsoft are coming out with. I'd be happy If microsoft stuck to making pcs and sony stuck to making cheap headsets. Nintendo is really the best at making games.

Yeah, Nintendo is better IMO. I'm not saying Sony doesn't make good games, though. I like both, but I'm more inclined to Nintendo. All Megaman games are the same!!!!

They shouldn't have named it the Wii, it's the butt of too many stupid jokes. They should've named it the Perfect Nintendo Entertainment System(PNES).
