I can't use a pick anymore

I've been playing my acoustic guitar pretty much exclusively for over a year now. Nothing against electric guitar but fingerpicking is 100x more fun IMO. I tried playing my electric guitar again today with a pick and it was not pretty. I can't use it anymore... it just doesn't feel right when my hand already has 5 picks on it :D

Lol, I envy you, I can't finger pick to save my life. I attempted the main themefrom Final Fantasy VII after seeing this older man playing it on youtube and found it hard to do fingerpicking, Iwonder how those finger style players like Antoine Dufour and Andy Mckee get those mad skills :|

I can only finger pick WELL with two fingers... and yes... my first song learnt for finger picking was the main theme after seeing the exact same video *from blitzwater??*

thats just how bad i wanted to learn it :P

then i think came nothing else matters

Same here. I just can't. Every few months I force myself to do it so I remember, but still fingers are more versatile.

I am better picking with my finger, as probably almost everyone out there, but playing with the pick just sounds much better.

I have four fingerpicks I push on my finger when I play my acoustic... Which is only on rare occations :P

I don't use my pinky to finger pick

I won't say I'm a fantastic Godly finger picker - but I have no problems doing so

And as far as a pick goes... let's just say you won't see me finger picking an amazingly fast guitar solo

i cant purely finger pick to save my life either, but i can do a combination using my ring and pinky fingers to semi finger pick while my thumb and index hold a pick =P its really weird i know >_<

I haven't used a pick in a long time, so I've been forced to fimgerpick. Not that good at it, lol. Though the only thing I am good at with fingerpicking is Stairway To Heaven.

me fingerpicks awesome, but I make sure I don't get rusty with a pick either. Even though I do agree, fingerpicking is faaaar more fun. Certainly the harder of the two.

That's called hybrid picking and it's a great skill to develop. I rely on my thumb way too much, so I can never hybrid pick or straight-up pick very well.

Something to work on, but there are no face-melting solos I'm really itching to nail anyways.

I started out fingerpicking. I just recently got into using a pick. Now I can do both. I'll fingerpick for the clean stuff, and use a pick for the heavy metal kinda stuff. But that just depends on the song. Some heavy metal stuff I need to fingerpick with cuz its too hard for me to use just 1 pick with, so I'll use 4 (I don't use my pinky.)

Ah I once had a guitar class at my old high-school,
our teacher said if you start finger-picking it would make using an actual pick tough XD
Dunno though I don't mind to finger pick but I exclude the pinky when I do.
But I don't think it sounds good on an electric, I use my Jelly-Fish pick mainly.

Using a plec has it's perks, such as the dynamic sound it gives. Fingerpicking however is more subtle and can give you a whole new arsenal of sounds. I like to use both, and in combination my Chicken'pickin' isn't too shabby.

That guy finger picks with electric (the one in red). I think it sounds pretty sweet...and he does a pretty tough solo too.
The first solo is about 5 min. in and the other one maybe about 9.
