Alright, I know we all love bosses. I mean, come on, there big, ugly, nasty, and intent on spilling your guts all over the battleground. What's not to like? Now, I wanna know, what is your favorite boss of all time? Mine is definitely Sword Dancer III from Tales of Symphonia (my favorite game). Try it on Mania mode solo with Lloyd or Kratos. Any console, any game, whatever, just your fav.

Ahhh...lots of Bowser fans, I see. I like Bowser, but in the later games they've made him so downright easy (Super Mario Sunshine, anyone?).

Well, in Sunshine all you had to do was ground pound his bath while he shot a fireball a minute at you. He really sucked.

I think that the two final battles of the game Ico (the horde of shadows and then the evil queen) are both the creepiest and most well-done battles I have ever seen. Either that or the first battle with Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts II (the one fought next to Memory's Skyscraper).

Well, it was one of the weirdest in Mario history, I can tell you that. Think back to the old Super Mario Bros. where this was actually half-serious, and next thing ya know you gotta battle him in the tub. Freaky.

I always loved Bowser in any Mario game, but specifically in the original Paper Mario. That was a sweet battle. Going up all the steps to get to the boss...that's so classic. Or in Super Mario 64. I hated that when I was little. The colors and the atmosphere was awesome though.

I also really loved Ganon in LoZ:OoT, and Bongo-Bongo. Ganon was just big and mean and scary looking. I mean, that was so epic. The music, the tail, the darkness...all of it. And it had the "climbing the staircase to your doom" kind of thing like I was saying before. And Bongo-Bongo just really gnawed at me, because he kept throwing me to the side. But I loved when he came down and beat on the ground.

I see so many people picking some of the most cliche names in all of video game history (though Sephiroth is mysteriously missing in this list), like Kefka, Bowser, Ganon, etc...but doesn't anyone remember Ghaleon from Lunar: The Silver Star? One of the most composed villians ever, and his laugh sent shivers down your spine. He tortured dragons, stole girlfriends, and just when you thought he was dead, he comes back in Lunar 2!

Then I'm gonna go even older and say that the bosses from Thunder Force IV were amazing. They provided hours of challenging battle, and the DarkStar at the end became damn near impossible on Very Hard mode. Plus, they all looked wicked epic.

Tomator, the boss of The Lost Vikings. What I loved about it was that it wasn't just hitting him a bunch of times repeatedly, it was a puzzle, and it used the whole level and all of your characters and a bunch of triggers and switches. I still remember the password you had to enter to get to the boss level. Plus he had a really funny expression when you hit him.

Depends if you mean favorite boss as in villian, or favorite boss as in battle.

My favorite villian would likly be Kefka also.

My favorite fight would probally be... Collosus 13 from Shadow of the Collosus- an amasing flying boss that forced you to run along side it on your house, shoot it from the sky, leap on its back and stab it in the spine. Truley epic.

I think it's K.Rool in Donkey Kong 64!

Because it's so focused on the battle. It's a boxing match with comments and stuff.
And you have to beat him with all of your characters in different humorous ways.
I like when he get stuck in the spot light.

And the ending is cool too

Elseway (is that a word?) i like HUGE bosses. Like Quadraxis (MP2) or Morpheel (LoZTP)

I call them cliche cuz every time this question come up, they are usually the main vote. Not that they aren't great, but I've know WAY to many people that jump on bandwagons and just to fit in, name off stuff that everyone likes. Take anime fans. Way too many people claim the title of 'Otaku', but how many of them have ever seen anything that hasn't been on Cartoon Network or Fox. A lot of them haven't even seen a Miyazaki film, or Akira for that matter, let alone other staples as Ranma 1/2, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Fist of the North Star, Macross, etc. Not that I'm hating on fans of stuff, but there are some people that take things WAY to far to fit in. I've always felt that if you like something, then like it, but don't parade it as the "best thing ever" and put down everyone else that doesn't think the way you do. That's how wars start.

For instance, I hate the Naruto anime, but I kinda (keep in mind, kinda) like the manga. And people don't understand why. Here's where I get to show random knowledge of useless things. Naruto, along with many other Shounen anime, has what I call DBZ syndrom. This disease is where an anime pushes scenes, fight scenes in particular, to extend the length of the series without adding any value to the scene itself. Also, they have added scenarios and episodes that were not in the manga to extend the life to make more money. Do I blame the company for doing it? No. I blame the fan boys and fan girls that mindlessly buy the paraphernalia, watch the series, and post really bad AMVs and fan dubs online to drain all that is good from the series away from those of us that think it's "okay".

Now this thread is probably going to start the forum war of "Screw you! Naruto rules!" or something similar. So to those people that are thinking of starting that thread, congratulations, you are the people I am talking about. Opinion is opinion. I would like to see more people posting stuff that is rare, to show that they aren't mindless, and I noticed after my post there were a few of those, but we still got some Kefka and Sephiroth fans out there. And as great as that is, we need to get something that hasn't been done to death, buried, blown up, dismembered, experimented on, reformed, beaten to death again, and repeated countless times.

So I issue a challenge. Scour the world of video games and anime and whatever else you can find that has villians, heroes, whatever. I want to see something rare. The most unknown characters that are vicious villians, epic heroes, hilarious sidekicks....anything that hasn't been posted on every forum enough times that the google search counter hits the triple thousand digits.

And to show I know what I'm talking about, I'll start it off. No one ever wants to mention them, but the most epic, well-known and yet never mentioned villian of all time: The NAZIS. that's right, I said it. The Nazis have been in games, movies, and even anime for so long, that we brush them aside, but whenever there is a Nazi around, you know that gun fire will soon be flying, and "HAIL FUHRER!" will be shouted. Indiana Jones, Full Metal Alchemist, Medal of Honor...those tenacious Germans have been scouring our screen without us knowing it, and we've been hating them for so long.

What else do you people got?

I think the main reason for this is either, you do not stop and think of some truly great bosses before posting.

Or simply that they haven't encountered enough bosses to have any of them beating the Known bosses. (Maybe this isn't the case on this community...) It's hard to like bosses you haven't played.

When you first pick up a game it's a really high possibility that it's one of these big titles. so the fact that many unknown games have crappy bossfights makes it less common to stumble upon a truly great one (boss fight) outside the big titles.

AND... maybe I'm all wrong :)

Without a doubt Gabrie Celesta from Star Ocean The Second Story, which is also the best game ever made.

She were the special boss u could fight at the end of the cave of trials and she beat the crap out of me even though my main character were somewhere around lvl 180 at the time.

After about 2 hours or something like that I had run out of every single recovery item and usable item I had in my inventory and she killed of my characters. Now that moment was one of the most epic boss fights I've ever had.

But let's not also forget the last boss in Breath of Fire IV. At the end of the fight I had used up all recovery items and had so little hp left that the next hit would send me to oblivion. And I WON! =D

The main point why I loved these boss fights is that I usually never even come near dying in a RPG or even feel as much challenged. However these bosses can really push you over the edge. =)

And just to leave a comment about Sephiroth, he was a nice character in all but as a boss he was just a pansy weakling which could barely hurt you at all at the end of the game.
And I think that the last boss should at least be somewhat hard.

i would have to say that Sephiroth is one of the coolest villians but the one that i think has the best battles is Ganon and his many shapes. Like the fight in LoZ: aLTTP is great. And the fight in LoZ: TP is very cool and i really enjoyed that one
