Hello guys !

Once again, a really huge thank you to all of you who entered or supported the FF7 Album !

So i uploaded the album on mediafire here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/3ubu7scv7ca4zdq/Gametabs.net+FF7+Tribute+Album.zip

If you guys are okay i'd like to see you put this trailer: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5m0zh4lgjl1d859/Trailer.mp4 On your youtube channel with those links : Download the album here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/3ubu7scv7ca4zdq/Gametabs.net+FF7+Tribu...

NEW PROJECT
The NES is famous for games like Megaman 2, Final Fantasy 1, Double dragon, Metroid, Duck Tales, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros, Ninja Gaiden, The Legend of Zelda...

You can pick songs from ANY GAMES on the NES, no duration rules, you can make short or epic long covers.
You also can do meldeys, ask for collab etc.

You can ask help to other people for solo, bass line, arrangements etc :)

We already got some official entires :
Little Nemo, Flower Garden by musenji https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kk_h9HY3-Kw
Ducktales 2 - Niagara Falls by BrudysGameMusic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuYCr8FLeO0&feature=youtu.be
FF 1 2 3 - Game Over Medley by Hashel /files/user/hashel/FF%201%202%20%26%203%20-%20Game%20Over%20Medley.mp3

So you have to March 15, don't worry if you do'nt have time to make many songs, this album doesn't need to be a double album like the FF7 Album :)

I'd like to work on songs like :
Jurassic Park - Level 1
FF1 - Chaos Temple
FF1 - Gurgu Volcano
FF3 - Dark Crystal Medley
Megaman 2 - Dr Wily (Bluesy arrangement, i'd need some help on this one !)
Megaman 2 - Flash Man

If one of you want to work on those too we can do collabs :)

I make no promises, but I may be doing a Dr. Wily fingerstyle arrangement from Megaman 2. I kind of have it worked out but would still need to write it and record it. I don't think there is one on this site in that specific style and I think I can give it a shot but it depends on my workload with classes in university.

I should ask though

Is it ok if it's just a single fingerstyle track and not like three different parts? I also don't know how to do much beyond writing the music so I'm not sure how getting it CD ready would work.

really? hm. the collaboration part is obviously cool if two people want to do the same track and can work together. but i feel like it would be cooler to encourage people to do different things. it's not like there is a lack of NES music to choose from.

for what it's worth, as it stands, i think im going to do a Palace in the Sky/Underworld combination from Kid Icarus. at least that's the idea straight away.

Damn, your stuff is great -.-*

What's wrong with Audacity?
The signal it's recording is the same^^

But right, a real DAW is quite more comfortable and faster to use compared to an "editor" like Audacity =D

Back then in 2011 I've tested a free program called Kristal, but I didn't like it somehow and more important: it didn't support MIDI! (which I really wanted to have ^___^)

It doesn't mean you have to pay for, there might be free programs, but I never regret that investment(s), because it's fun and a hobby :)

"Reaper" seems like a great program for importing midi's and assigning them VST's, if that's what you're aiming to do, Hashel. However, it only actually comes with a single synth instrument, so you need to find the rest. :/ i was trying to use it to make some of my power tabs sound more like studio quality, but yeah. hunting down VST's is kind of a pain.

Ive used Reaper lately (22 days into the evaluation), and really like it. Before that I've used Cubase 4LE which I got for free included with a digital recorder way back. Although I've yet to pay, I'm set on putting the 50€ or so into the Reaper license.

I've understood Audacity supports VSTs too? I haven't tried using them in it though. I've had a few years to go through the free VST selection and frankly haven't got too far into it, theres quite a few around.

And like Vulpes said, the signal you get into Audacity is the same as into any other DAW, its more about with how you capture it and how do you edit it. In my case I just got new microphones a bit over a week ago, and they make a huge difference. My last TC submission Overworld doesn't come even close to the same sound. (Granted the new microphone isn't everything about it in this case)

reaper does seem like the best option for my purposes right now. surprising that the price is actually nice and fair for this sort of app. a friend of mine has audacity and i am going to try it. neither of us are too familiar with it's interface, though. xD so importing is going to be trickier. :P

oh man. i totally feel ya on having good mics. everything i've ever recorded has been through a $5 mic that came with my 2006 Desktop. xD i need to get a more proper set up. :P one of those fancy receivers that goes through usb or something. preferably 8 track or more. will check out your tune. xD

Deiselc and i made this little arrangement : Gp5

The lead sections are made for jamming and soloing, rhythm and bass are finished (we won't exactly follow it and let some improvisations).

But the drums are really poor i think, i'd like to add some jazz midi instruments but i feel out of inspiration.

Reaper is my daw of choice.

It has many features you won't ever know you had XD.
I had cubase and coming from it I pretty much did the same things.
Except Cubase was a 5gb install and Reaper fits in an email attachment.
Plus it can be installed to "go" on a usb stick.

VSTs are all over. I tend to be bit of a Privateer in that department.
Programming wise just do it in Guitar Pro and export the midi into reaper.
That simple really. As of now 8Dio has some of the best VSts I have ever heard and used.
