Evidence the earth is expanding

This is like a "science conspiracy" video I found pretty interesting. Basically it suggests that plate techtonics doesn't actually exist, rather that the earth used to be much smaller and covered completely by land. Over the years the earth has expanded and continues expanding today. Some pretty interesting stuff to think about.

Evidence should be in quotations. This is not evidence of anything except someone completely ignorant of geology and physics. I invite you watch him get his ass handed to him by the skeptics at Bad Astronomy and Universe Today:

Neal joins in on post 12 of that thread.

LOL I didn't mean it directed at YOU Arch, just at Neal. I was willing to give it a listen, though the fact that the theory (if you could even call it that?) was coming from a guy who used to be an artist for X-MEN, while cool, did not lend much to his credibility as a person shaking the foundations of accepted scientific fact. It didn't take long to realize that his ideas, interesting as they were, amounted to nothing more substantial than that; ideas. Creative, yes, as one would hope from someone who draws and writes comics for a living, but ideas that attempt to disprove what has already been proven (or shown to be generally true with a huge amount of evidence) with wild and, frankly, absurd assumptions. (The Earth CREATES matter? Wow, I think Newton would have a little something to say about that. The Earth has a core of plasma? Like that in the cores of stars? I'm surprised we haven't been incinerated long ago. Pangaea would've thrown the Earth of of it's center of gravity and caused Pangaea to sink? WHAT?!) Under the scrutiny that science MUST be placed in, they fall apart completely. The guy has fundumental misunderstandings of science as a whole. I would invite you to read that thread I posted if you can wade through Neals nearly incoherent defenses of his belief.

There's no ill will towards you though, I understand how these fringe theories that bring science to it's knees can be seductive at times. There's also the "We never landed on the moon," conspiracy. I'll admit I was sucked into that one for a few hours. The people championing the idea give seemingly convincing reasons for their assertions. However, every one of these have been refuted with careful research and the, "Oh..." factor as I like to call it, the stumbling upon of an answer to a seemingly unanswerable question, ie. "Why are there no stars in the photos of the moon landing?" or "There are too many shadows on the moon," etc. etc. each having been debunked and explained. Such is the case with the video. It's an interesting idea, but one that just doesn't hold up under the "pressure" (get it? HA!) of hard scrutiny.

Oh I know, I'm a strong believer in the principles of science as well. But I just love reading about conspiracy theories. I don't seriously buy into any of them, but the crazy ideas people come up with make for a really entertaining time when I'm bored  Though I admit I had my skepticism about the moon landing for awhile when I was younger... I know now that everything can be explained rationally though.

Did you know that there is an entire group of people who are convinced that the earth is flat? http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/. These people believe the earth is actually surrounded by a giant wall of ice that is being guarded by government drones, and that the sun, moon and stars are actually some sort of optical illusion or something. Lol. I get a kick out of stuff like this.

How the hell do you fake something like this though? http://chamorrobible.org/images/photos/ ... medium.jpg

Ahaha. I love stories that use baseless facts. People get so much attention doing that.
Like moms complaining about kids playing video games, and the results of playing them.
The only thing I've noticed is it increases the laziness of children and the bitchiness of their parents. Cold Hard Facts there. Undeniable.
