I think you mean more basic than that microphone right? I have a an SM57 microphone along with an M-Audio fast track USB interface. It's about as basic as you can get, but works very well for simple recordings. It will cost under 200 dollars.

I'm thinking about getting into digital home recording (not too serious, just kinda "mess around" stuff). I was just looking for suggestions for what kind of equipment I should consider purchasing. I don't wanna spend too much money, so I want something basic, but not too basic. Like:
Less basic than this:

More basic than this:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Roland-VS2480CD-24Track-Digital-Studio-with-BuiltIn-CD-Burner?sku=241059
I'm actually thinking about something like this:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Podcastudio-USB?sku=631003
or
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Lexicon-Lambda-USB-Audio-Interface?sku=245506
What do you guys think?
