Since i am quite free today while waiting for my new guitar to arrive, might as well recommend some anime. Also, thanks Ennea,Clanver,Mash and lastly Yashakenkyaku for their recommendations.

For people who like comedy generally,

1.Gintama - The most funniest anime i ever watched. The jokes are really one of its kind and please dont watch it
after episode 89(if am not mistaken).
2.Seto no Hanayome - Although its a love-comedy,this show leans more to comedy rather than romance.Worth checking out but dont expect it will break anything new to the genre.
3.Baka to Test Shokanjuu - A unique and humourous anime. Also, some of the jokes are based on other anime and dont watch the second season.

For people who like dragon ball, bleach, one piece,naruto,d-gray man, hitman reborn and fairy tail and think there arent any better anime out there,

1.Rewatch all of those mentioned above for 5 times and forbid yourself to watch any other kind of anime.

For people who hate dragon ball, bleach, one piece,naruto,d-gray man, hitman reborn and fairy tail but like shounen,

1.Tenga Toppa Gurenn Lagann - A classic shounen anime. This is a very cliche show in terms of setting and plot but what keeps it interesting(and enjoyable) lies in its storytelling and characters.
2.Katanagari - Despite the odd character drawings, this anime emphasized on boss-of-the-week kind of battle and do
contain mild violence.
3.Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood - A tale of two brothers that goes on a journey to get their bodies and parts of their bodies back.Thats it.I wont spoil anything else for those who never watched it.
4.Ga-rei Zero(R-18) - Have one of the best first episode ever produced in anime.

For people who like harem anime that are based on visual novel(eroge),

1.School Days - Courtesy of Yashakenkyaku.
2.Clannad - Dont ask.I dont understand either.
3.Kanon - Same like Clannad.

For people who hate harem anime that are based on visual novel(eroge) mainly because there arent any hentai scenes in it (which are present in the visual novel) or overly cliche and way too predictable.

1.Yosuga no Sora(R-18) - The only harem anime i think which actually have hentai scenes in it for each girl present in the show.Yes,including the sister of the main character and i am not shitting you on this fact. And this anime actually get to show on japanese TV for the public to watch. For ultimate viewing pleasure, please get the BD version. On a side not, this show got a really fluid character movements if you get what i mean.
2.School Days - This show goes for the bad ending where the main character's head ends up inside a bag.And thats that.

For people who like anime based on music,

1.Nodame Cantabile - Just watch it.
2.Macross Frontier - The most ambitious anime i ever watched.Have plenty of CGs(good cg not those crappy cg)for the space fighting scenes, nearly each and every episode have a different insert song which are fully animated and good character development and a unique plot to boot. This show do try to do everything and the only anime that gets it right.

For people who is finding car racing themed anime,

1.Initial D - The only car racing themed anime ever released out for the public. Therefore,no complains.

For people who are finding anime that arent based on anything,

1.Eureka Seven - Strong character development and very unique characters are the main points of this anime.I strongly recommend this anime.
2.Cowboy Bebop - Again.Just watch it.You wont regret it.
3.Last Exile - Similar to Cowboy Bebop.
4.Rahxehphon - A better version of Neon Genesis Evangelion.Solved nearly all the main problems that i found in NGE except the ending.

For people who like high graphics anime,

1.Final Fantasy VII - A very fluid cg with tons of fighting scenes.
2.Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko - Highest graphics ever produced in anime television series.Everything including the background are extremely detailed(every character including objects have their own shadows and mainly use bloom as their lightning effect). So,no talking heads,no static backgrounds and awkward character movements.Watch it in Blu-ray.
3.Samurai X : Trust and Betrayal - As the title suggests, this 4 episode ova centralized around the main character trust and betrayal with characters he meets along the way.Although its released in 1998,this anime really has some nice 2d graphics and shadows.

For people who like horror anime(there arent any good horror anime out in the market) ,

1.Ghost Hunt - A detective horror anime.
2.Another - Has the best first episode in anime and then came the second episode.

For people who like psychotic-themed anime,

1.Mirai Nikki - Ever wanted a psychotic murdering girl as your girlfriend. Then, this is the anime for you.

For people who like slice of life anime,

1.Usagi Drop - Dont read the manga(R-18) and just watch the anime.

For people who are finding anime that are based on game,

1.Tower of Druaga - I never play the game that it is based on.Nevertheless, this anime has great setting and quite realistic characters.
2.Hack Sign - Gio insists so...
3.Sword Art Online - No.Dont watch this show. Its a total rip off from Hack Sign.

For people who hate anime in its entirety and fail to understand why people actually watch it and need a few good examples why its rubbish,

1.Kino no Tabi - ask kara.
2.Black Rock Shooter - Just dont watch this show.
3.11 eyes(R-18) - Apparently you need to change 11 pairs of eyes upon viewing.

Thats it for today.Stay tuned for next week recommendations at Gametabs.net.

More or less organized by similar genre, all of them are good though in one way or another.

Primarily Romantic Comedys but with touches of fantasy.
The World God Only Knows <-- one of my fav
Kiachiou wa Maid
Bakuman
Clannad
K-ON <--- awesome music
Usagi Drop - More of a real world perspective and very down to earth Series, <-- one of my fav
a lot to relate to though if you have kids.

Both of these series are crowning jewels in their own right, Code Geass is more battle oriented and Death Note is more plot and emotional build up apposed to action. Death Note does fall on its face later in the series after a few key events take place.
Code Geass <-- One of my fav
Death Note

More generic action/adventure anime with a good balance of humor and other elements.
Full Metal Alchemist Brother hood
Sword Art Online
Fairy Tail <-- First 2 seasons are great
Soul Eater
Histories Strongest Disciple <-- one of my fav
Ao No(Blue) Exorcist

Season 2 of SAO definitely doesn't have the same drive that the first did, But I can think of plenty of worse things out there.

I could have said something really embarrassing like Darker Than Black S2, one of the various Negima spin-offs, Code-Breaker, Gundam 00 move <--- so bad, Accel World... seriously pick your poison

Escaflowne is an amazing series though +100

For people who like anime based on music,

NC's scene with rach's 2nd piano concerto is a good enough reason to watch it, good recommendation.
Piano no Mori, it's only an OVA and is shorter than the manga.
Sakamichi no Apollon for jazz, too bad it had BL vibes here and there.

For people who like anime based on VNs

(inexact quote but there are good animes based on VNs that have no hentai.)
Steins;Gate >:?
Umineko is supposedly well-liked by some. I tried the sound novel but it was eugh, so I stayed away from the anime.
Ef tales, but I didn't like it.

For ones that have eroge, just check bakabt. More than half of anime based on VN eroges are hentai. There are a lot of good plot-VNs (has eroge in most cases) but that's off-topic. I'll still bring up names for those possibly interested in good reading material, the OSTs are generally very good as well.

Some of those impossible to anime-ize due to how huge they are would be Aoishiro, YU-NO. Ever17 or Kara no Shoujo for example. The amount of branches and the size of the story would make it too difficult, IMO how KEY did it with Clannad (OVAs for diff routes) isn't great, and for those VNs it wouldn't even work.

Some like Sharin no Kuni, Saya no Uta, G-Senjou no Maou, Tokyo Alice, Brass Restoration, or Family Project (haven't finished this one though, so not sure yet) could get an anime even without the eroge since the plot is where it's at and they aren't as complex construction-wise.

Animating VNs is more of a challenge than making an anime out of a manga obviously. Just look at what they did with Muv-Luv which is a horror VN. They kept some horror in it, but it's nothing like the VN ;A; Was looking forward to it and got horribly disappointed after some episodes, as it started out pretty interestingly. Same goes for Fate/Stay Night. The anime mixed elements from the three routes and it ended up bad compared to the VN itself, even if there's an OVA for rin's route (which I didn't watch, I would just re-read the VN).
True Tears anime has a VN, but Salem checked and it's different from the VN, so I'm putting it in another category.

For people who like psychotic-themed anime,

Aoi Bungaku Series stories 1, 2, 5 and 6.
Paranoia Agent
Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku (dat seinen)
Jin-Roh
Akira
NHK (sorry bogikavo but the anime is bad compared to the manga)
(NGE EoE just for the mindfuck and due not understanding wth you just saw, but everyone here knows that already)
Get to Eva rebuilds instead.

For people who like slice of life anime,

True Tears (bawww)
Minami-ke
Bamboo Blade (although more comedy), etc, lots in this genre.
Nichijou (not really slice of life, but great comedy)
Mayo Chiki! though harem/comedy as well

For people who like high graphics anime,

Kara no Kyoukai OVAs
Eve no Jikan
Wonderful Days / Sky Blue (korean anime)
Evangelion Rebuild (great visuals, still has asuka, and less angsty shinji, good formula. Supposedly #3 is mindfuck from start to end, can't wait for BR release). Instead of watching Rahxephon, I'd rec the eva rebuild movies |: That anime is almost as bad as NGE pace-wise and angsty-prot-wise, so fuck it.
5cms/s director's latest anime, I didn't bother watching it though, but seems good visually.
Aoi Bungaku Series stories 2 to 4 (the rest are more 'trippy/artsy'
2 (iirc) of the One Piece movies are incredible visually, forgot which though. I believe OP Z will be quite promising as well since the anime is already building it up (not following the manga after Fisherman arc).
Fate/Zero

For artsy(/trippy) animes:
1 of the OP movies' 2nd half had one of the best artsy visuals for an area, but like I mentioned before I don't remember which.
Mononoke
Count of Monte Cristo/Gankutsuou
Aoi Bungaku Series stories 1, 5 and 6
Paprika/Millennium Actress
Jigoku Shoujo
Mushishi at times (dem babies under the house is prob one of the most surreal horror scenes in anime imo, different from horror like Jin-Roh's wolves scene)
Trapeze
SE: Lain at times
Petshop of Horrors
Bakemonogatari at times (Nise was too much fanservice, dropped it even if visuals were good). Could add Setzubou Sensei as well.
Yojou-han Shinwa Taikei
Cencoroll ?
Pandora Hearts only up to Chesire Cat's arc. The end is horrible.
Mawaru Penguindrum, watched part of it when high, then I realized it was crap. Good visuals though.
Shinsekai Yori at times, but it's not too good plot-wise although interesting when well-done. Doubt the 2nd half will be particularly good/worth it.

For people who are finding anime that are based on game,

Brave Story gets that 'anime takes place in a game' feel, but it's not actually based on one.

Ennea said

I like seitokai no ichizon as non-sense humor if we're still at that.

Gintama is quite good, but it's just too long. Had good parts but eh too long. It's too long, god damnit.
Seitokai no Ichizon is good, waiting for S2 to finish before I watch it.
For non-sensical, Seto no hanayome (as mentioned by we11) including baka to test (+ it has hideyoshi)
Pani Poni Dash
Detroit Metal City
FLCL
There are too many for this genre.
For F/SN/Tsukihime/etc fans, Carnival Phantasm.

The classics are mainly brought up already. like Baccano (Mash mentioned), Monster/CB/SC/GITS (kara mentioned), CB/Mushishi (ennea). Needs more Black Lagoon mentioned though. And Maria Holic/Happiness! for traps.
Side-note: Eureka 7 or TLGL/TGLG/w.e weren't that good for me, but eh, difference of tastes.
There are other good titles but meh, I'm off to continue Monte Cristo.

For people who hate anime in its entirety and fail to understand why people actually watch it and need a few good examples why its rubbish,

Hametsu no Mars.
God damnit another essay, I knew I should have stayed away from this topic. At least I made it shorter by not including a seinen list.

Hmm, what have I watched that's recent?

I like the new Slayers series. Even if they're well, er, somewhat variable in quality. They're kind of heavy on the rehash side, too. Still, I'm happy to have five seasons instead of three xD

Karigurashi no Arrietty (Arrietty the Borrower) was really good. It's pretty easy to understand, too, in case any of you are learning Japanese.

I've watched 14 episodes of the new Full Metal Alchemist cartoon so far. It seems pretty good, though the series looks pretty long--64 episodes! I'm not sure I'll make it through the whole thing.

My attention has been waning for the second half of SAO. It started off kind of iffy, then I really got into it, and now I don't really care too much again. That last episode was creepy as hell, too. Ugh. Are they going to end the series or keep going?

No you cant since you are one of us and dont worry,i will include it in my next week recommendations.

To BHC and victor, since hakoria didnt write a full length essay on explaining why i didnt include K-on in the recommendations,i will give you one.

Hakoria said

I know why K-On! is on the list, I'm not fond of slice of life and rich girls having a cup of tea around a table.

I don't need the definitions since underrated/overrated discussions is a pain in the ass concept (it's loose as it depends as to what you compare a certain title to), I just mainly wanted to bring up recommendations for seinen/psychological-horror. I disregard anime forums/communities entirely because of such topics (also due to rankings and the fact I disagree with majority's opinion being the definite better opinion) as it's impossible to explain to someone why "K-On!" isn't imo the best anime, and I'm glad you agree with me. He/she still has the right to believe so, so fuck him/her.

There you have it.I agree with BHC on K-on music but thats in the ED songs, not in the show itself and god how i hate yui singing. Its just to high pitch for me.If you recommend people to listen to the songs, then i dont mind but to watch the show, bad idea.
