I read this article: Here and I started to think, How great would it be to have an entire website dedicated to people like this? Enough so that it gets media attention.
Maybe even a TV show. There are TV shows trapping child molesters via internet and shamming them, why not for people like this?

After seeing all the hate posted on sites like "Youtube" and "Twitter" it seems like a grand idea. I find it to be extremely entertaining to call these brats out. If they can't stand behind what they say then they should be saying it.

And how is that? freedom of speech does not mean you can't get called out on what you say.Plus there have been PLENTY of times something like this happened. You seen the Racist youtube post from the 2 white girls? Was put on the news and everything. They were expelled from school AND believe me no1 wanted a thing to do with them afterwards.

People need to learn ignorance and hate is not protected under the constitution. They can say what they like, while others can voice what they want on the topic as well. They are not protected from the opinion of others. It's how the world works. If a celeb posted something like that it would be all over the news. They need to learn to be accountable for what they say they believe in.

What point is there to racism today? 98%+ of these people have no clue what it was like to even live in a world of slaves, they speak purely out of ignorance and blind hate. It's even funnier that most of them are enrolled in "Christian schools".

If you read allot of them they use the excuse " My account was hacked" and so forth to try to get out of trouble. if anyone is stupid enough to believe that.

Not to say I'm necessarily endorsing the show idea, and it does seem like Gio likes to hear himself talk, but Lemon, didn't you say you've never even MET a black person?

Also, you can't say "no offense" and then say "that sounds like a horrible idea". If you're going to say "no offense" then you have to word your rejection more tactfully, otherwise you're contradicting yourself and asking for...oh, look, a really long-ass followup post! Couldn't have predicted that would happen. :p

And then I realized that the chord progression from Chrono Cross's Another World is the same progression as the chorus from Peace of Mind by Boston, and life was never quite the same.

Disapproval is one thing, but setting up a pillory is definitly the wrong way. Way too extreme, people can learn without being made a public hate symbol.

I also strongly dislike the shows that do such things, one of many reasons I don't watch tv.

Now that was a joke. Of course I've met black people, blah blah one of my friends is black(i'm not kidding here), when I first said that it must have been in reference to the fact that there were like only 5 black families in my entire hometown.

Also, my bad, it would appear I do this a lot, post really quickly without explaining why I stand where I do:
Gio, you say ignorance and hate isn't protected under the constitution, but I would say that responding with public shaming to something stupid that someone said on the internet just incites people to respond with more hate and ignorance. If you're trying to convince someone to stop saying hateful things, don't respond by exploiting their ignorance and then turning the hate back on them. I don't believe you could have a show like the one you described and have it not be a hateful mess, and that's why I think its a bad idea.

Lemon, it must have been someone else. Someone on the forum did say that they've never really had a conversation with a black person.

Internet mob justice is still the same as mob justice....I'm not sure why people think it's ok.

Also unfortunately hate speech is still protected speech. (See: Westboro Baptist Church)

Finally....buttmad conservatards deal with it.

EDIT: also fun fact about the to catch a predator you mention; they had a huge fiasco because one of the people that got caught killed themselves and his family sued or something.

1. How is it public shamming?

If they believe what they speak then how is it shameful? If it is "Shameful" Than why do they say it? You don't know what it's like when you live in a country and every single day someone has to fire off the N word. Xbox Live is nothing but "Nigger, Nigger nigger" in ever game match. Halo, COD sometimes Red dead. The word has become a symbol of being cool. And it should not be. people dont "learn", That's prob the most ignorant concept. If you knew anything of American history the country pretty much Fights it the entire time.

People should not use any hate term in PUBLIC, Unless they can stand behind it. So it's ok for them to shoot off "Nigger" on a PUBLIC Twitter account with their full names, Post Youtube videos of hate speech but it's wrong if anyone calls them out on it.

They posted it on the web for ALL to see. They took the time to type it and made sure everyone they know knows them for that.

No they are not protected. You have the RIGHT to say whatever you want. BUT YOU ARE NOT DISMISSED From whatever actions are caused by it. You have the right to threaten to kill someone,Just as you have the right to be arrested and taken to court for saying it.

You have the right to call someone a Nigger,Just as they have the right to beat your ass afterwards. Something called cause and effect. The constitution does not give you the right to say whatever you want and get away with it whenever you want. In doing so it removes someones elses right to act against that comment.

If you noticed many Schools on that list have rules Against such actions. Even on social websites. Handbook guidelines are pretty much a CONTRACT students have with a school.

The original purpose of saying "no offense" is to indicate that the speaker does not wish to hurt the receiver's feelings.

Then people took advantage of that fact, and used it to say mean things without appearing mean. Without the legitimate original use having existed, this wouldn't be possible.

If you're in a place where everybody knows all this, then yes, they would realize that someone saying "no offense" could be immediately followed by an offensive comment.

In practice, I still see people genuinely say "no offense" when they do not wish to hurt a person's feelings, but do wish to offer some form of critique. How genuine it is, depends on how offensive the actual comment would have been, without the words "no offense, but" in front.

[edit] Well. If you weren't correcting me then, I bet you can now!

Kara, I think that situation could be avoided by saying "black" and if the guy gives any kind of look, you roll your eyes up, not in the way that means he's ridiculous for noticing, but in the way that says, "yeah, I know, it's stupid, but what can you do?" PS it would be accompanied by a thumb-shrug. You know, when you shrug but with just your thumb. Also then you kinda chuckle and smile right afterward. And also you're drunk.
