I read the first 20 volumes of the manga for FMA, liked it alot, maybe i'll finish that one one day.

I thought it was garbage but weeaboos find it to be some kind of sacred cow and get butthurt if you say anything bad about it.

Also putting random crucifixes into things doesn't actually add any depth or mean anything, it's just empty symbolism.

I can't find the exact quote but the creator actually didn't have an ending planned out at the time of the show's creation. He basically just made shit up as he went along and apparently was having mental issues at the time.

Eva fans will always claim "you didn't get it" but really there's nothing to get. It's just vapid, hollow bullshit. I could splice in footage of hostel at the last 6 episodes of some random gundam show and it would be about as thematically dishonest.

I wish it was possible to hate Eva and it's fans to death.

I was thinking that i should watch the movies

and I don't want that.

Wha... ?

@Lemon watch the movies if you think the normal ending sucked, didn't like it either but end of evangelion gives you a good alternative - think it was produced because many people complained about the last two episodes being so lame but I'm not sure. Also the movies 1.01 and 2.02 need to be watched, they are downright awesome and imo better then the Series!

@lemon: EoE is the proper way to end NGE and is worth watching for the rebuild movies to get where they stand timeline-wise, if you care enough to bother. Dem movies are great so far though with 2 out of 4 already available, too bad anno's been using the delay card for the third one so much.

okay, I watched end of evangelion last night
it was very visually appealing, lots of cool disturbing animation sequences (when the white evas started budding rei's face I started actually laughing out loud because it just looked and sounded so fucking stupid ahahah)
it was definitely a good substitution for episodes 25 and 26, but it still felt like they were just adding in random shit hoping people would assume it was deep and meaningful (all those crosses. oh wow. please try harder.)
All in all
it was fun
but would not watch again

Ennea I can't speak for everyone, but most of the people that I know liked Ghost in the Shell because of the well rounded, pretty realistic characters (something that anime needs more of), a well thought out, yet complicated story line that isn't pieced together randomly (NGE), a fantastic soundtrack composed by YOKO KANNO , and, this is a major plus for me, a very visually appealing art style with well rendered backgrounds.
You should download the soundtrack if you don't want to put all the time into watching a new show, the soundtrack is just too fucking good.

GitS was a pretty consistent, thought out show. I don't see how someone can think Eva is a masterpiece but find GitS to be pointless.

My guess would be despite them both being anime GitS has more western influence whereas Eva is more weeaboo pandering.

Why does everyone love gits so much ?

1. It doesn't run for 500 episodes like the big anime series do

2. It had a planned start and finish

3. It's consistent, thematically honest, has clear direction.

4. It's appealing to people who probably don't like anime that much (which is probably why some anime fans don't care for it)

Yoko Kanno is usually sufficient enough of a reason to watch something tbh, she doesn't tend to accept offers for shit anime either from what I've seen with her as composer. Probably the most adapt anime composer when it comes to tackling such a huge range of styles/genres.

Sure thing, they're awesome! The story itself isnt that great but ufotable are the best in presenting their work. If you watched fate/zero you'll know what I mean, it's just great to watch somehow.

Back to NGE, I didn't like it at first but after some time I rewatched it as a whole and came to love it somehow. Except EP 25+26, they suck.

^dat ufotable, one of the best movie series even if you're not a type-moon fan (enjoyed KnK more than F/Z here). Liked 1&3(fujino;A;)&5(loved the appartment's concept + touko gets lots of screen time) the most and didn't bother with the epilogue as it's just a conversation or something of the sort. Def worth a watch if you were wondering omnicide, unless you've brought up the title because you've seen it before.

+ost fit the show very well, even has some machinarium-like tracks.
yuki kajiura (xenosaga 2&3 or madoka/fatezero for people like sj so they can recognize her)

@lemon: mushishi is generally easy to watch (good flow, can tackle serious topics but you get the opportunity to think of it while watching since it's not an action movie) and pretty, but it still has one of the creepiest episodes related to babies in anime |:
