Yeah, I think you should remove that part if it isn't your own work. And it sounds a bit out of place with the milk bar melody. The rest sounds good so far

I tried cramming this song into a bossa nova rhythm format, but I ran out of steam starting in the 17th bar. What comes after is just a placeholder until I come up with something (or someone helps me out :) ).
Also, I heavily borrowed bars 10-16 from this arrangement because it seemed to fit nicely:
