I bet google knows more about this than any of us. I know you probably want to take it to "real people", but in a case like this, factual knowledge is more important than live feedback--unless someone here has the knowledge. On the other hand, I would ask, what is anger management? And why is it bullshit? Don't answer the second question until you have thoroughly answered the first. Not just like "oh it's this and this talk about your feelings and that's bullshit". Really specific information about it. (once again, google is your friend)

Maybe it's all the angry

Maybe it's all the angry music? XD Seriously though, I think the only way to solve this is to get to know yourself on a deep level. Start to question everything, start wondering why you are doing things, spend days pondering that which you aren't sure of. Most importantly, start meditating. Use those hours in your room to sit down, breath deeply and empty your mind; before filling it with one single thing. When I was less calm I meditated every day, and the benifets for me as a person were great. I suggest you buy some meditation music (FLAC format) and listen to it through a good sound system - you need to be recieving the higher frequencies for it to work. Also get into exercise routines. Exercise increases endomorphine levels in your body, responsible for stimulating reward receptors and making you happier as a result. Trust me, it works. Exercise will also improve blood supply and breathing, as well as overall bodily efficiency. This means better stress control and confidence. Not to mention the healthy impact it has upon your mind generally. Start taking food supplements; specifically multivitamins and omega 3 tablets. These help enormously. Having your full recommended intake of vitamins increases your health across the board; including mentally. And omega 3 tablets, while in some dispute, do in my experience improve concentration, learning and general ease of life. I've only recently went back on these, but after a month I'm starting to feel much better. It's possible that you do all of these, in which case it's serious enough to warrent professional help. But the best person to sort stuff like this out is yourself, trust me. It will decrease the chance of it happening again, and develope yourself as an individual in the process. All of this is spoken from experience. I'm a naturally highly strung person, potentially becoming stressed and unhappy about the smallest things. If I didn't do all this I'm confident I would be bordering clinical depression. But as it stands I'm pretty happy, confident and very much in control - I'm still improving in some areas but what matters is I'm in the process of doing so.

ive had episodes like that, and my mother believes im actually bipolar. its a possibility, but in response to bhael and rex, i dont think its "too much" angry music; thats like saying youre a peaceful guy because you listen to too much mellow music, or youre a pothead because you listen to too much bob marley. i dont think it exactly works like that; for me, if i turn on some slipknot, mudvayne, omnium gatherum, killswitch engage, trivium (old stuff), it makes me feel considerably LESS ragey, not more so. but, that being said, bottling up frustrations is highly unhealthy and unwise, its best to vent frustration. scream FUCK at your pillow as loud as you can once in a while, it helps, oddly enough. but probably the best thing is talk to someone who has more superior knowledge on the subject, or just simply take a nice long walk in the woods or on the beach, somewhere calm and quiet. if youre into skiing, try cross country, once you get the hang of it, its a real nice way to get lost in the motions and forget about whats bothering you; did wonders for me, and its a nice work out for your calves and thighs too, so youre really felling two birds with one stone. anger+workout=gratifying satisfaction

I find anger only a short term solution. While it can give the illusion of having dealt with a problem, in reality it only sets it to one side with a rush of hormones. It will come back once the anger has passed, and cause yet more stress. Although anger and screaming is an attractive solution, it falls short of calming onself and, through an open mind, realising the truth so that the problem may not surface anew. But I was only joking about the angry music part haha. I know well the mood boosting and calming effect of such things.

Actually contrary to the popular belief that "hitting a punching bag" or other such activities makes one ultimately less angry, I remember in college reading and reporting on a study that showed that hitting a punching bag, while feeling good in the moment, ended up making the problem worse. Unfortunately it was years ago and I do not have any memory of the specific study or its methodology, to check its coincidence with real life. But, it makes sense to me. Habits form by practice. I agree with Bhael's approach. That is, if you don't want to shell out money to see a professional therapist who might be able to diagnose a specific problem. Once again though, I dunno what "anger management" refers to. There are a number of things people do to manage anger that I would possibly agree are bullshit--and there are others that probably work.

FLAC music is bullshit; as unnecessary as 3 cm-thick 24-carat gold-plated HDMI cables. Just use MP3 on high bitrate VBR, v0 and disable filtering of frequencies. Anyway... Some people are prone to this kind of behavior; I am not really short-tempered but when I get angry I yell at people and punch things (inanimate) and throw stuff at others, etc... To what extent this kind of behavior is normal is entirely determined by your environment and how functional it is in your actual life; do you feel this is affecting your life in a particularly negative way? I imagine it probably is at least a bit or you wouldn't be asking about it. I really suggest you go see a shrink and talk to him about it and how it's affecting you (or not) and why you're a bit worried about it. P.S. I'm a med-student.

Actually I used to listen to "Little Wing" whenever I got angry and it calmed me down. o.0 Yes, you could talk with psychiatrist about your problems; I used to and it didn't do me much good. You could just as easily talk about it with a stranger you found on the internet(as long as you don't include too many specifics). I'd still say find a healthier outlet for your anger; play guitar, whatever you enjoy playing; find something that makes you laugh. The treatment's expensive, but the cure's free. I've got no credentials, but I was diagnosed with bipolar at 16. ^_^;; |

That's somewhat true, especially for music. But generally the good meditation music is only available in FLAC format, and it's not worth the risk going for compressed audio. Much of the sound is processed unconsciously anyway, and you really need to recieve all of the data for it to affect the brain as it should. Whether or not you can 'notice' the difference is irrelevant. I'm not fussed about disk space, and I don't like enough artists to have a huge library. So I just go for FLAC, confident that I'm getting the quality closest to the original. v0/v1/v2 vbr's the best balance between sound quality and size, but it still remains a lower quality than FLAC; whether or not you can TELL the difference. If you aren't bothered about disk space there's no reason to mess around with different compression types (especially if you listen to the amount of electro-acoustic music I do). Also, doesn't vbr only go up to around 270 kbps?

I think your suffering from a condition called being Human. hehe No, seriously though, today's society places a ton of subconscious stress on the average person. Like all of the destruction people are causing to The Earth and all the corrupt people in the world that are making decisions that effect your life directly etc.... that's another whole discussion hehe Whether you know it or not, your mind is thinking about how to maintain or obtain the basics: food/water, shelter and currency. Among other specific things that are particular to each person obviously :) All of these subconcious stresses can leave a person "on edge". Which is the reason why you would flip out from i.e. spilling a glass of milk. but, like Bhael said, exercise and a proper diet will do wonders for a stressed mind and body. Particularly Potassium because it helps maintain the efficiency of your Central Nervous System. Something I do to clear my mind of personal concerns is walk down this long beach that the trees have fallen over from erosion. And at the end is this huge rock that you can climb on and look out over little islands, inlets and the other shore side. My point is to find some place that is full of nature and get somewhere where you can look out and see how small you are compared to the vastness of Earth. Helps bring me back to the reality that we are lucky to have the opportunity to tangibly experience our world and everyone should embrace it, instead of exploiting it greedily. This is just a conclusion I have come to personally :-) Hope it helps in some way haha |

The first part is true only to a certain degree; much of the "facts" associated with meditation music is just Quackery and/or Placebo. And by the way, I've got hours and hours of New Age music I use to sleep or sometimes study, I do have at least a bit of experience in the matter. The second part is drowning in a glass of water. The solution is very simple, encode your own music. I download FLAC whenever I can but thren I reencode it. The limit of VBR technically depends on the software or front-end for LAME that you use. When I encode on my Mac, I'm limited to around 270kbps V2 (XLD, still have to find something that loses noticeably with this setting), on Windows I use fre-ac set to 256-320kbps (not Joint) Stereo. P.S. not for you, excess potassium does absolutely nothing for your body othet than putting you at risk for Kidney Failure.

I agree that the effects of meditation music, along with all it's eastern medicinal counterparts, are exaggerated. Buit as you seem to testify yourself, it does have a remarkble relaxing effect upon the brain. I know people who became so relaxed that they ended up urinated while in meditation. Just because some benifets are made up is no reason to dismiss the others. Sure if you are that bothered about file size then you can do that. If I used portable music players like Ipods I'd do it myself. And if there's a vbr application that truly goes up to 320kbps, great! Excess ANYTHING puts you at risk of kidney failure. iamHoustonian was right in what he said about potassium. It's an electrolite, along with sodium. A balance of potassium and sodium is necessary to create the body's electrical charge. The reason salt is so looked down nowdays is because people have almost no potassium to counter it.

You have to do something with stress in your life if you feel like that's the reason. There are many ways to reduce stress, but obviously, I won't recommend you something like alcohol. For instance, you can try talking cbd powder, I've heard it supports mental health and helps cope with stress, so hopefully, it'll work for you. |

I mean anger problems can certainly be caused by stress. I feel stressed a lot of the time too, but I figured that I need to rest and eat proper food to feel better. Started working out and sleeping more, and personally, I feel better. I also started taking multivitamins that I bought from https://actimore.com/. Pretty cool website to get minerals and vitamins for a reasonable price. Take care of yourself! |

Hail,friends.
I'm posting this here because I'm honestly not too sure where else to take it and I thought maybe one of you might have some clue as to wtf is wrong with me.
It happens mostly when I'm stressed, even just a little bit,I get incredibly angry at some of the smallest things, things as small as accidentally dropping something.
I've never acted upon my rage,I just kinda bry it,and every now and then I'll have a day or so where I just lock myself in a room and just...be incredibly pissed for awhile, refusing to talk to anybody, and screaming at anybody that does manage to bother me enough to get me to say something to get them to go away, not entirely because I want to be alone, but mainly because I don't want to let my own frustrations out on everyone around me that doesn't deserve it.
If you've ever seen that episode of house with that prisoner that killed like 4 people and he had a tumor on his adrenal gland that made him go balls crazy and kill people,it's a little like that, except I haven't killed anybody yet,I'll just get unnecessarily angry, probably yell and throw things, but nothing too horrible, because even when I get that bad I manage to keep control of myself to an extent.
I ask you gametabs, wtf is wrong with me? The wife is really bothered by it,saying it's not normal for me to be this touchy, but I'm not doing anger management, because that's all bullshit.
