I play Electric guitar, because it fits the style of music I like.
Right now I own an Ibanez RG120,but on Saturday I'm hoping to be able to trade her in for a B.C Rich Warlock, which was actually my first guitar, but I ended up pawning it for shoes so I could work, because my shoes at the time were literally in 2 pieces,I had to nearly duct tape them together so that I could leave the house, and nobody's gonna hire you with ratty ass shoes like that.

But I first began playing the guitar because my dad had my warlock, and it didn't really fit him,so he gave it to me and got himself a Silvertone Revolver Strat knock-off,originally I planned on playing bass because I was afraid of guitar being too difficult for me,but he gave me his warlock and I started getting into it and I just loved it.

Soon after working for a month,I moved to Kentucky to be with the love of my life, carrying nothing with me but a backpack full of clothes and an outdated A+ book. (It's a computer thing.) On my 20th birthday,my mom sent me some money, and along with all the money I got from my new family,I picked up my Ibanez from a pawn shop, mainly because it was the only thing they had that was in decent condition, and in my price range, needless to say,I've learned my lesson about not getting what I want and just going for convenience, because I liked her in the store, but soon after taking it home,I began enjoying playing her less and less, and it's gotten to the point that I understand that she's just not for me and she's gotta go,not to mention her sparkly red finish really pushes me away, though, again,I liked it in the store.

So,My fiance's going into town to get her wedding dress, and I get to hang out at Guitar Center for awhile and play around and hopefully scrape up enough money to bring my warlock home.

Classical guitar!
my friends constantly tell me they think they all sound exactly the same. They say there's no strength behind each note like there is with a steel string acoustic, and I tell them that although they're entitled to their own opinions, they're full of shit.
I like both sounds of steel string and nylon, but I hate the feeling of steel against my fingers. Nylon feels smooth and I find it much easier to play. I also like the wide neck of classical guitars.
I started on steel string playing shitty four chord songs, then I tried a classical at guitar center after seeing some videos of them here on gametabs(!). I bought a cheap one right off the bat and I enjoyed playing that thing, some shitty cordoba. Then my unkle came over with some old ovation nylon string from the 80s. He sold it to me for 300$ (it was originally sold for 900 ;D) and now I have my favorite guitar. To be honest, the ovation back is a bit of a pain in the ass. My only other gripe with it is that the action gets a little high further along the fretboard, but it sounds great for 300$. Its my favorite guitar.

I mainly use my classical guitar as of now because of my university. Im not a performance major or anything but I am majoring in something called music therapy and it requires me to take music major classes (which includes my classical based private lessons & esemble) along with my therapy courses. Since I have a demanding schedule I only have time for classical. I probably made it sound like I hate it but in reality I absolutely love it :) I started playing "fingerstyle" guitar about a year and a half into my playing and it was because to play some songs here it required me to do so. Then a year after than I discovered a website called classtab.org. Then on after these two sites became my main source of fingerstyle playing. It wasn't until I entered my university In september that I have concentrated so much on fingerstyle/classical guitar. I use a yamaha cg-150 which i absolutely love. It has a thick warm lovely sound but the neck and the scale is much thicker than other classical guitars i have played on but it outweighs having to play with a shitter thinner sound. I also own an electrc guitar and "borrow" an acoustic from my friend.

While I enjoy the challenges that classical guitar poses, I get more of a kick out of fast riffs, leads, occasional soloing and even just straight up power chords for electric. Also, for me personally, I feel I have more room for experiments and exploration of styles and genres for electric guitar than I do with the other two.

Classical guitar is my main instrument, as I love the soft, mellow tones it produces if played properly. I find out of all the guitars it's strings are the most independant, and in my opinion the most sensitive. This allows for a great deal of musical expressionism and tone control. For me the classical guitar's most at home playing delicate, melodic music; and the genres it isn't suited to I have no interest in anyway :). The thing of fundemental importance to me in music is dynamism and expressionism, which I find the classical guitar THE best instrument for. That's why I'm willing to put up with it's a) difficulty to record b) complete dependence on good room acoustics and c) the impossility of the quest to find the perfect strings.

Acoustic guitar is my alternative, which I use for everything else. While my classical is for melodic music, my acoustic is for jazz and new age music. If I want to do stuff that involves tapping and percussion I go to my acoustic; though I'm not doing a lot of that stuff right now. Also, I find the acoustic a more 'powerful' instrument, so more suited to creating the more epic stuff. However, I only use low gauges as I find everything above too harsh.

I never touch the electric, but if I did it would be for the purpose of adding atmosphere to a composition. I'd only play it clean (can't STAND distortion), maybe with some reverb and delay; with a bassy eq setting to give it a 'pure' sound. I love the instrument when it's used like that.

=O, i use my 2 classical guitars most of the time, since the classical way is just the most fun for me.
The first one is a german full solid Body handmade Hanika 50pf, a beatiful, very loud classical guitar which i bought for 750€ with my first part time money(did start working actually for guitar equip), and the 2nd one and my newest is a Godin Multiac Nylon Duet (2004 Version), which i bought used but in excellent shape from a local guitarist for 800€ which you always see in my fingerstlye contest vids since its easy to record, and very nice to play, especially in the upper frets.

I actually have a acoustic (Art & Lutherie) and an E-guitar(Aria STG-04, fitted with an active EMG set), but well~ they are beeing used but not as much as my main ones, though its fun to play sometimes.

I play around with my acoustic... o.0 a lot... I have an Ibanez TCY10. It was the first guitar I picked out in the little guitar shop we have here. It's pretty comfortable playing. ^_^ I try and play classical amongst other things on it though.

I also have a '97 American Standard Fender Stratocaster. I play it when I have the chance; not really allowed to plug in the amp here a lot.

Holy crap, sounds alot like me, haha.
I have an Ibanez acoustic, which is what I mostly play. If I had a classical guitar, that's what I'd use, since I'm really trying to learn classical techniques and learn classical guitar.
I also have a 50th anniversary american standard strat and I think an Ibanez RG120.
Plus a few bass guitars, haha.

also, i second spearpoints comment; electric just fits my style of play much better, because im more into melodeath and metalcore etc., but with that being said, i really enjoy the sweet organic sound of a nice acoustic, and the somewhat melancholic tones of a classical guitar; jamming out songs like radical dreamers or terras theme is just so satisfying, whether on a classical or acoustic.

im with kara in stating that if i owned a classical guitar, i would use it quite regularly, albeit not as often as my electric, but it wouldnt just sit in the corner and collect dust bunnies (that job belongs to my ion).

given i love my dean ml x more than many of my other possessions, i would easily have to put my vote in for electric guitar; for both its sexiness and its raw power.
