Any recommendations for a tablet?

I don't know if I'll get one anytime soon, but it's something I'm interested in. I thought about the Bamboo Capture, but I don't really know anything about tablets. It just seemed like a good price compared to the Bamboo Create... Also, is the software that comes with it enough? I'm not planning on doing anything professional with this...as far as I know. Just going to use it for sketching, painting, and what not I guess.

P.S. Did anyone else see what lonlonjp wrote? "The free tabs were not uploaded by me at all. They were all fan-made ones and I do not know why they were removed suddenly. it was highly likely that they were warned by original copyright holders."

THIS FUCKING GUY WHAT

Get a wacom bamboo fun time small tablet! its only 100$, comes with an early version of photoshop, corell painter, and some other shitty editing software that no one likes
It works great for beginners, and I'd say even professionals could use it.
You'd be suprized how durable they are, I ran over mine with my roly chair so many times, and whenever I'd get angry i'd toss it arround my room and no damage would be done!

I was going to post this, but decided not to. Auriplane would kill me :S.

On the bright side I'm now 100% sure the guy's an asshole.

This is the only one I could find, but they're all used :( I didn't want to get a used one...besides the capture seems to be basically the same thing; although I don't think it has corel painter.

I've wanted a bamboo tablet

I've wanted a bamboo tablet for a long time. I think it would be great for studying and other crap. I'm actually more concerned with finding software specifically designed for taking notes. I know there is a program that comes with the tablet called Bamboo Paper, but I think it is only for IOS and Macs. It also seems somewhat limited.

When/if I eventually go back to school, I'll probably invest in one of these.

Also, that quote is false. It is interesting to hear that he thinks original copyright owners requested that only his tabs be removed. Makes sense. They gotta protect the interests of Youtube guitarists that have nothing to do with them or their companies.

You don't really need corel painter. Honestly, the capture looks to be the same as the fun time tablet, but i've never heard of it until now! If it comes with photoshop, I'd say just get that.
Remember to search arround other sites like newegg to see if you can maybe score some cheaper prices!

HEY,

If it means anything 2 you I have 2 of them.
bamboo fun and then the newer sideways one. Honestly i dont use them that often.
I use to have the 12Inch one with the screen on it and it wasnt worth it. Because the menus
still take up too much space.

it's either

you go big Citiq or go Intous.

the smaller bamboo models just dont have anything near the quality of the Intous.
if you want I will try to find what i have of my bamboo and send you it.

Your best bet is corel painter compared to photoshop.
Painter acts more like actual drawing materials, Blending and
everything is more natural, something photoshop cant mimic. I can get you a
ARGH Ahoy matey version of it ad send with it if you really need them.

I disagree about the cintiq-

I disagree about the cintiq- they're expensive! Only reason I would see for him buying big cintiq is if he was going to use it every day or for professional use. Also, if I were him I wouldn't even go for a big intous just yet. Lets pretend he ends up spending 300$ on a medium intous 4 (thats the general price for one of those) and he uses it maybe a couple times after he buys it, but then he loses interest in it. Hes then out 300$. If he buys the smaller models (which function just as well, I assure you, I had a TINY tablet 6''x4'' for 4 years and it worked great for me) he saves money, and if he decides suddenly that hes over digital editing and painting, he didn't throw out that much money.

if he were to buy a cintiq he'd be out 800$ at least!
I also strongly disagree with the quality being much different between the smaller wacom tablets and the Intous4, I've had both, and a beginner will definitely not be able to tell the difference. The only gripe I can think of with the small tablets is that its harder to free draw straight lines because of the limited space.

Not trying to be contrary here, just want to make sure you don't throw lots of money towards something that he might not be turbo interested in.

I said go big or go home. As in if your ever buying a Cintiq you have to get the huge one and not the 12" one. The 12 inch is a waste because the menus in each program take up too much space, That combined with your hand and it does not really matter.
( I owned one )

When I was talking about the Intuos i meant big as in The better product as in go for the good stuff. a Normal sized Intous is miles ahead of any bamboo product.

Like I said I have 2 Bamboos sitting around. The "fun" version , the one i will keep because im use to it and the Newer model behind the ones that are out now. I hated the thing. it's wider but not taller.

if anything I feel handy capped using them compared to an Intous, those things feel great.
