Always liked this tune. Thought it was very fitting for a town of uppity aristocrats such as Jidoor!

i think it might sound truer as such: (first 2 measures)

|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
|--5-----------------------------------5----------------------------------|
|-------5---------4-7-5------------------5--------------5h7p5-4----|
|----------6----7--------6-7-7-7----------6--6--------------------7--|
|-----------------------------------------------------8-7-----------------|
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

but thats just me of course, but i really think that trill (?) is the second time over.

and the piano solo type thingy, the trill at the end of that measure? try: (end of 11th measure)

|---------------------------------------|
|-13-12h13p12p10-----12-10--|
|-------------------------13-----------|
|---------------------------------------|
|---------------------------------------|
|---------------------------------------|

and the very last trill in the very last measure, simply:

|-8h10p8-7-----|
|---------------10-|
|-------------------|
|-------------------|
|-------------------|
|-------------------|

it sounds better to my ear played this way. that isnt to say what youre doing is wrong, because your tab is perfect, im merely offering some helpful construction; making it sound fuller perhaps.

good work, keep it up!

Nope, her tab is accurate for the first eight measures. Your suggestions make it inaccurate.

As far as actual problems in the tab, Bacardi, I see two. First, you wrote down a note on the wrong string here (and all the times it repeats, of course). I moved the bolded note:

e|-----------------------------------------13---12----------------------|
B|--------------13--12h13p12----------12-------------15--13---12--13~---|
G|----------14----------------14--13------------------------------------|
D|--13--14--------------------------------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|----------------------------------------------------------------------|

And the piano solo type thingy is mostly wrong. You put (mostly) the pedal notes in the wrong octaves, so it doesn't sound anything like the song at that point. I'd probably play it like this:

                                                               tr
e|-----7--8-----7------------------------------------------|-------------------|
B|--10----------------10----9----10----5----6--------------|-------------------|
G|-----------7-----7-----7----7-----5----5--------7-----5--|--4(5)4-----5------|
D|---------------------------------------------7-----7-----|---------7-----7~--|
A|---------------------------------------------------------|-------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------|-------------------|

Other than that, everything seems to be fine.

Oops, and yeah I just copy/pasted that measure so it would be on the wrong string each time. Wow I must have totally heard that part wrong! I'll take your suggestion :S

And yeah, that song plays in Jidoor in the World of Ruin. I played through the GBA FFVI Advance, didn't care for how choppy it runs and how terrible the music sounds, also the translation changes. I've been playing the game since it was brand new, and I'd have to say each time I play it as I get older it gets better for me. That game is simply a MASTERPIECE.

mm. that was that annoying little quest to get relm back in your party. i thought it annoying anyhow.

ive never played it on anything but the SNES. nope, thats a lie, i played it as part of the FF anthology, with V included and the OST for VI as well, rented at the local pharmacy, of all places. had it so long they wouldnt let me rent anything else.

i have V for ZSNES, but tis japanese. i need a patch, but I have no idea how to install it.

Oh, I liked that part.

The fan translation for FF5 is pretty good. Grab Lunar IPS. That'll apply the patch for you. The Playstation version is horrible, not least for the translation. I'd recommend getting the GBA one, though ;-D

I did get that note wrong, and I fixed it and posted the tab:

Btw, FFVI for the gba was the only version of this game translated in Italian.
Maybe the most boring part was the huge dungeon with 3 different group ( that one to get back locke maybe ? ) ( i cant remember it well ).
Btw I have a nice memories about the gba version of the game . . .
My girl liked gaming, but she wasnt a big fan, and never had a consolle ( she was a REALLY casual gamer ), so I gifted her a GBA with FFVI . . .
And she loved it ! I loved how we start to talk about FFVI, like a dream come true ( a cute girl that enjoy FFVI ? Wao ) . . . Ok Ok I'm boring.
Btw nice tab Bacardi !

The GBA one IS terrible...the only good thing is you can carry it with you anywhere and pull out a DS. But the music is so lacking and I hate how slow the processor is. I mean comparing things like flying around in the airship, casting Cure 3 on everyone, Holy, Sabin's Fire Dance...I'm like blown away watching it on the SNES after playing the GBA lol. The SNES was a wonderful machine though. The extra dungeons are meh...the extra ones in FF4 Advance I think were a bit better. I have a ROM of FFV which is the SNES version, not sure who translated it though. It was pretty rough playing the Playstation one haha but when that came out I took what I could get. I'd definitely say 5 is the hardest of the series (not saying it's hard per se, but compared to the others).

it was quite some time ago i played anthology, and twas the only way i had of playing V, but the bit i remember was quite challenging, but i loved the atmosphere of the game. it felt very... fresh, like around every turn there was discovery. that hasnt happened in gaming in a very long time.

i would have to say that in the whole of the series, V presented the most palpable atmosphere, and coupled with a fairly in-depth leveling system and good combat tactics, it was really very awesome.

VI is still the best.

btw, im now working on a tab of to zanarkand. and by damn is it ever tedious. how do i post it in the forums like you did here bacardi?

Agreed about V and VI! IV was my first RPG ever when it came out so it has a special place in my heart but VI is just better due to character development and story...I also like how it takes place in the late 1800s, interesting time, and very different from the usual medieval setting (though I LOVE that stuff).

VI was my first RPG, so my opinion is kind of biased regarding its greatness, but many other people i know have said the same thing. VI seemed to mark a change of pace for FF, the following games all seemed to take on that machine influenced tech-driven plot-lines (VII as well as VIII did so, and X and XIII), in which they all maintained this almost "humanity gone awry; futuristic" atmosphere.

all in all, the game that did it most fluently was VII. that vibe of technological influence on the progression of the game was extremely prominent (midgar, the mako cannon, bugenhagens observatory, the submarine, cids airship, cids shuttle etc etc), and didnt even put a minus on the substance of the game, like a lot of people thought it would have done at that time; if anything, it made it all the more interesting, and even relatable to some; like the shinra news broadcasts, and the election of rufus. Also there was gold saucer; a vertiable paradise of sidequests and good fun, and gold saucer is possibly one of the most memorable moments in the entire game; for both the plot that unfolds there, and the sidequests involved therein.

christ, i could write an entire essay on the greatness of VII, and why it was the highest grossing game in the series. but it aint about the money it brought in to me, its about the people it attracted, the themes it presented, and the damn fucking good time i had enjoying it and uncovering its secrets.

well. thats a load off.

and to answer your question bacardi, no i do not know how to upload to the browser haha.

I just think VII fell short

I just think VII fell short of VI...IMO VI is what the first 5 games were working toward, and what the other 7(ish) have tried to be. But to each their own. Maybe if they had done VI with VII's graphics people would feel differently (not me, that doesn't matter, although VI had extremely impressive graphics for SNES). I generally hate remakes, because they always screw with the translation and add/remove things.

Ok there is a tutorial somewhere on here, I forget where, but I'll tell you.

Click the insert/edit link button (the blue planet one), go to browse and UPLOAD your file...idk if you're doing Guitar Pro or notepad, I always use notepad so I just upload it to the directory, and then when it's uploaded it'll be highlighted on the list, then click send to editor (and you might have to close out of the directory then). You'll be back to the insert link box, type in the title for BOTH of the link title/text and hit ok, should work.

thanks bacardi!

i shall try tomorrow when im less drunk, and when my hangover hath subsided. hopefully ill get some good feedback, havent recieved any negative comments on my magical dreamers tab, though youve been the only comment, and most likely the only vote as well.

this next tab will be along the same lines, my own arrangement, but well, like the first, different, but the song remains the same.

actually, if you play the intro part of my magical dreamers arrangement, youll find it harmonizes fairly well with the main melody riff, so it makes itself to be a great rhythm, which i found kinda cool.

i just wish i had some means of recording... i could try my iPhone i suppose, but i have no guitar with me right now, except for an old-ass kay electric that needs some serious TLC; my dean ml x and my yamaha acoustic (as seen in the neo photo thread) are both in happy-valley goosebay, next province over from newfoundland, where im from and now living.

needless to say im not happy about it.

thanks again for your assistance!

ps. i agree that VII fell short of VI, but as i previously stated, my opinions of VI are slightly biased.

I did look at your Magical Dreamers tab, I didn't really put any effort into trying it but I might. See, I've been playing a year and a half and 99% of the time I focus on playing lead, so I'm pretty terrible at chords and stuff in the 1-4ish area of the fretboard, ESPECIALLY on the top 3 strings. But it seems that you did the main part pretty similar to Arch's tab, which sounded good. And yeah, my guitar probably sounds worse than anyone's on this site but I still play :3 lol

it is similar to arch's tab, i just include more trills and what not, cause its more adept to my style of play--i play a lot of in flames, and theyre lead melodies follow an extremely similar basis to chrono music and final fantasy music, the older stuff more so than the new, though some new has more prominent lead.

the fact i adore the chrono games is due in large part why i enjoy in flames so much.

also i have only the guitar, no equipment whatsoever haha. trying to get to get it shipped to me, but im worried about my dean cause i dont have a case for it, and in my area, those types of cases are hard to come by short of special ordering them, which would end up costing two or three times more than my guitar did.

might be a fair boon considering if the guiar broke, id be well off buying a new one as opposed to getting the dean fixed haha.

yah, its a pain in the ass, but like i said, i can manage with my kay, its not a great guitar, but ive played FAR worse (my first guitar was an ion, sounded like a moose-fart) id just rather have my dean or my yamaha.

speaking of which, now that im home, i should call my buddy and see if he got my alvarez fixed up, maybe then i could do some recordings, if i can figure out how to do it with an iPhone.
