so my uncle comes over today with this guitar he just bought on impulse. An Ovation Classical model number 1663, ebony fretboard, gold tuning pegs and the like. he said his friend was selling it for 250$. Thing is he hates nylon strings, but thought it would be a shame to pass up on such a good deal. (apparently, it was worth 900$ retail in the 80s.) He let me buy it offa him, now I got this sweet guitar. :D its seriously so nice.
only bummer is that the pick up is broken.
either way, ITS AWESOME.285532_2261564587265_1492965469_32573926_4385524_n.jpg

Another stat I managed to find: "The 1613s and 1663s have 'Spanish Pine' tops. We had a discussion of the difference a few years ago and found out there really wasn't any. Spanish pine is just another term for cedar, or maybe a type of cedar. Don't know why they distinguished the two."

But what really matters is the sound and the playability.

And then I realized that the chord progression from Chrono Cross's Another World is the same progression as the chorus from Peace of Mind by Boston, and life was never quite the same.

so far, sounds excellent,

ahahha, thats pretty interesting! so far, sounds excellent, though the strings are completely dead and look like they have been for a while.
Quite possibly the easiest playing guitar in the house. :D I'm so stoaked on it.

I know, I didn't plan on having a nice guitar til I was 20. :'D sadly, i'm in debt from buying it so I don't have any money for strings.

Another thing, does anyone know how much a set of cheap tuning pegs cost? Yesterday I also recieved a takamine js441 (150-200$ guitar) that just needed a set of tuning pegs, a bridge, and new strings. All the tuning pegs i've found are made of like ebony and gold plating and I aint got that kinda money, nor do I wanna put alot of money into a beginner guitar like that.

Most typical tuning machine sets cost anywhere from 20-40 dollars depending on materials and quality.

Personally, I've replaced the tuning pegs on an old takamine I snagged from craigslist and it was well worth the cost. They're quite easy to switch out, and it's not like you need a drill or anything if the holes are off a little. The headstock wood is so soft you can just screw it in by hand.
