Forgive me about the little HS, but Auri, after my exams i'll have some time and money to spend on music, i'll buy a new guitar (a Gretsch Corvette), i still have a little synth, but i wonder if it's a good idea to buy a BASS !? Something cheap (less than 300€), i can plug it to my USB Digitech RP350 so no need to buy an amp too ! So what i'm asking you is, do you think that could improve the quality of my recording, does it deserve, for me guitarist, to spend money on, is it a problem if i only play with a pick ? TY!

Umm, someone better than me can teach you how to compose. I'm not a composition-how-to-teaching-person. Lots of bassists only use a pick. You could always get a bass, and then if you want, learn to play with fingers later. When you record, you can decide which to use based on what's appropriate for the song. You'll have an easier time mixing bass played with a pick, though--it tends to stick out more in the mix because it's got a sharper attack and more high end (unless you're comparing to slap bass). I think my own recordings sound pretty bad, so I'm not going to be like, "don't get a bass, you suck". But having a bass won't automatically make your own recordings better. You'll have to work at it. If you play bass badly, then it'll sound like you're playing badly, which is the opposite of good. Keep in mind that a bass costs money to maintain, too--a set of good guitar strings is $4, but a set of good bass strings is like $30. And if you record with dead strings, it'll sound dead. (Hehe, which I've done a lot...) But I think it's worth it, because bass is fun :-D Also, playing bass can force you to fix problems with your guitar technique, and vice versa.

Track 1, by Wohali, is the one played during the levels. I put it first on the soundtrack because I think it's the most important song in the game, and because I think it makes a good intro, but it's also the only one I didn't write :-) I really love her song though. Loved the game and the soundtrack, Auri! I did have one problem about the gameplay though, but it might have just been me. Sometimes, it was hard for me to tell what parts were the background and what parts were the foreground that you could run into and damage the ship. It wasn't that big of a problem, but it messed me up a few times... I'm guessing you need to have a profile on Kongregate in order to save it, I didn't realize and had to start over... :( But, I still really liked the game :) Edit: Unless he wanted it to be like that for the extra challenge, I only played on hard mode. |
