Sephiroth one of the most evil? No way. Dr. Hojo intentions were way more evil than Sephiroth. Sephiroth was misguided, deceived, and driven by revenge whereas Dr. Hojo was completely cynical to begin with. Dr. Hojo would definitely be ahead in the category at least over his son. |

I'd say that some of the best antagonists are the ones that are the "most evil". Seems pretty easy to just have them kill a bunch of puppies or something to make them unliked. I prefer the ones with crazy strategies like Ganondorf or Alex from Golden Sun. |

i dunno man, sephiroth is just another jenova, he sought to use the planet as an unholy vessel to soar the stars endlessly, spreading corruption, chaos, and discord as he sailed the universe. if you dont call that an evil intention, well, each to his own, but sephiroth is one evil motherfucker, i stand strong by that. but i agree with you in saying that hojo's intentions were nothing short of psychopathic, i just dont think his ultimate scheme adds up to what sephiroth had intended, not even close. sephiroth was the type that felt he was doing good by someone, made himself out to be a god-complex, he didnt realize his intentions were so vile, he was just doing what he thought best, which, imo, made him all the more evil because of his intentions. hojo KNEW he himself was a schemer, and that his intentions were bad from the start. sephiroth slowly became corrupted, a fall from grace as it were. thats why i think hes one of the greatest villains of all time.

"son of a submariner!!" "do i look like a waiter?!!" "clean my boots", or the famous......"hate, hate, HATE HAATTTEEE!!!!" dalandau still takes the cake, fuckin psycho man, every thing he says about halfway through the series is like a diabolical mind-fuck, i shit you not. "cheek, cheek, cheek"....creeped the hell outta me, mostly it was the look presented in his eyes that was intense beyond belief. if you, or anyone else has not watched vision of escaflowne, please do so, i really odnt hink youll be disappointed.....especially if you happen to be a fan of inuyasha and gundam wing; perfcet mix of both

Your nostalgia comes from prior FF titles but you have to realize that FF7 was the first RPG game played for many people of our generation(including yours truly). The nostalgic factor you have for 4 is the same feelings others have for 7. Even though it falls short of being my favorite by quite a large margin(Final Fantasy Tactics anyday everyday), it still captures that nostalgia which makes me play it again. |

hypothetically speaking mate, ive been playin games nearly 20 years myself (18 now i think), and the first game i ever played was 6, and i agree very strongly, 6 WAS worlds better. i didnt play much of 4, i didnt own it until a few years ago, for the GBA nonetheless, but the bit i played (got to the wyvern quest i think), well, i was really impressed, cecil's a damn awesome main character.

Just because you played a bunch of RPG's doesn't desensitize you from the feeling of the first time you play a new game. And although I did ramble on about nostalgia for the majority of the post, my main point was the first senctence. People who judge a game based on something other than the game itself, (e.g fanbase whether it makes you hate or "nearly" hate it because it still affects your opinion), is an unfair judgement imo. They say the best villains don't know that they are villains. That's why I nominate Salem as #1. I don't think he is aware of what he does, just that it is in his nature. Good thing he is a loyal minion. /cackles Majora would be my #2. S/he possessed a poor little lonely skullkid and puts him through a world of shit. On top of that, s/he wants to destroy the world for no apparent reason other than for the sake of destroying the world... and this is done in a way that is not only extremely terrifying for the inhabitants of the world, but also utterly hopeless. |

chrono trigger? BEST RPG in existence, in my own opinion. im actually writing a story based on the chrono series, the sequel to cross, i guess. calling it chrono fate, storm is the main character. its based around the idea that serge failed to vanquish the time-devourer. i read something about it on the chrono-compendium, and was inspired to expand on the story by that, as well as the vain hope of ever seeing another true sequel in the series. i only hope i can do it justice.

alright, whos the bad of the bad? whats your guys pick on the best antagonists? be it game, anime, show, movie, what have you, whos the most evil in your eyes?
for me it would have to be:
1. Dalandau (Escaflowne)
2. Sephiroth (Goes without saying, I think)
3. Shai'tan/the Dark Lord (Robert Jordan's the Wheel of Time series)
runners up would be Sauron (LotR), Morgoth (Silmarillion), Kuja (FFIX), and Kefka (FFVI).
Frieza from DBZ is one evil SOB too, but he doesnt compare to the above listed imo.
