Dang. I'd interpreted the reflection as meaning opposite, hence shadow (Janus, Prometheus). I could see the third and fourth lines applying to either of them, but it doesn't quite fit with that obvious "oh, i get it" sense. Same with the last two. I think the real hint must be in lines 5-6, because they're fairly specific. Narrowing from the set of "everything", they aren't useful, so they must be useful because they're narrowing from a smaller subset. So, what set contains the items in lines 5-6? Hmm.

None of these. A bit of hintlery: Auri, you're right that 5 and 6 eliminate very specific things--they are intended to eliminate the set "Things that most people would think of, based on the first stanza." Namely, rainbow objects (including anything called "prism" since they're all made from the rainbow shell) and the moonstone (you get the moonstone from the remains of Son of Sun--a pyric foe).

A burst of light is

A burst of light is strong, You are referring with something to do with light or something that bounces off of it. Possibly water or a mirror or something. If you wish to understand, You're probably hinting it happens or is revealed after the main stages of the game where you do all the extra side quests to make your team baller status I do not speak of rainbows You already explained and I actually understood the Son of Sun b4hand, but I forgot that prism was made from shells. But something found by mending It is either an item forged or possibly a forging into a dual or triple tech? I believe lines 7 and 8 is the most important lines of this riddle. I'm just gonna throw random words out now so it can be rejected... Luminaire? Wormhole? Neither? Yep. |

God I played this so long ago that I don't even remember the names of half the characters... Is this referring to saving the mother of that genius girl with glasses? The part where you gotta input LARA (i think it was lara...)? I remember I failed that side quest and robo gave me an item. So I suppose you get something else for saving her, and that's what you're referring to. It would totally fit with the last two lines. |
Nope, it's not the Green
musenjiJoined: Feb 02 2010 |
Nope, it's not the Green Dream. Robo actually gives you that either way, I think. Another hint: "wait longer" refers to a specific kind of choice you make in the game.

Maybe something with that dude in the dimensional rift who claims to be the Warmaster? He was called Seppiko or sth like that. This is really my last stand now. :) |

musenjiJoined: Feb 02 2010 |
Okay, well clearly y'all are done with this one, and you put some good effort into it so here it is. The answer is the Moon Armor (/and the Nova Armor). A burst of light is strong, (Burst of light--Nova. Light's reflection--Moon. The Moon Armor is stronger than the Nova Armor.) (You have to choose NOT to open the sealed chest containing the Nova Armor in 600 AD--and wait 400 years to pick up the Moon Armor from the same chest in 1000 AD.) (The riddle isn't about the rainbow shell or the moon/sunstone.) But something found by mending (You can only get to the treasure chest by repairing the floors at the Northern Ruins.)

Then FF6, FF8, FF5, SoM, FF4, FF9, in that order roughly. I played through FF9 but really remember very little. --------------------------------------------- You can't trust me,

Re: Is it monsters hiding in

Correct!
The clock room in the temple of the ancients. When the moving hand touches you, you fall down and start a battle.
11 only has two factors, which are 1 and 11. Room 1 has a chest with a monster inside, but you don't get any items from killing it.
In the training house in Narshe, there's a room with smart people. I guess you could also say there's a save point in the room which is bright.
The monster is so weak. Only a few hits will kill it.
Monsters in chests are so common in ff2. Theres almost one in every dungeon
In FF2 you recieve the items before you battle it (; Your turn, Ranulf (: |
I have 3 ideas, all 3 refer
kanshiketsu89Anime Clef Joined: Aug 13 2010 |
I have 3 ideas, all 3 refer to an enemy type from ff7. Is it Toxic Frog, 8 eyes or Jemnezmy by any chance? The factor of 11 refers to that "clock room" in the temple of ancients and something with nothing to gain is Princes guard which can be found there. And the only enemies you can fight there are these 3 I think. Although, time causes pain could mean the thing when you get knocked down by that third clock hand and fall into the room where you fight that dragon. So I'd say it's that dragon after all. I can imagine him appearing in ff2 and 6 as well. This is as far as I can go with knowing only one FF that's mentioned here. I'd appreciate it if you take all my 4 guesses into consideration cuz I can't filter them any further without actually playing FF2 and 6. |

Riddles are verily fun! That's why we should have two threads. Some of the time, the new riddler from thread A will be in the process of creating theirs, and there will be NO RIDDLE at that time. So this is to fix that horrible horrible scenario.
Plus this means if thread A has a riddle from some game, and you haven't played that game enough to have a chance, then you can come here where maybe there will be a riddle from a different game.
The qualified games are still the same: pre-2003 Square Soft games that were released in America, and when posting a riddle say which game it's from. The rules are in the first post here:
http://www.gametabs.net/forum/topic/11773#new
A clarification that came up: if a correct guesser opens up the floor to anyone, the first person to post a riddle gets the floor, and then it's back to normal--whoever solves that riddle gets to post the next one (the floor doesn't go on being open).

This riddle is from Chrono Trigger. Good luck!
A burst of light is strong,
But light’s reflection even stronger;
If you wish to understand,
Be patient! Wait longer!
I do not speak of rainbows
Or of pyric foe’s remains,
But something found by mending
The effects of heavy strains.
