Link what I was talking about on youtube are the notes at around 20sec or 21sec and after that(the part right after the intro). Compare it to the same part on jit's recording to see what I mean. Idk it just sounded kind of weird to me.

Oh, you mean the harmony, not the melody, Ranulf? I didn't listen that far last time because I hit stop and went to type up the intro ^-^;

No, it's not. The melody is

No, it's not. The melody is right, but the harmonization doesn't quite work.

The F natural at :36 feels off to me. I want it to be an D#. Then again at :43, the original song does C# D#, not F natural F sharp.

These four all have one thing in common: they all go below the lowest note on the bottom string! I feel like that might be why Link had trouble finding them. (Of course, they can all be played an octave up.)

As I said before, you don't have to do everything like the original, but the F natural feels a little off to my ear. I think this recording sounds a lot better in terms of tone though :-)

When I said "needs bass", I didn't mean the bass EQ, so much as an actual bass, BTW :-D

EDIT: Btw Link, although I'm focusing on criticism, I can tell you're getting better by leaps and bounds! Keep it up :-D

Nice hash! But the drums may be a bit too loud :) and auri and ranulf, for the melody it does sound kinda off and out of place but when you play it to the song it fits perfectly. and auri, thanks for all the critism, it has REALLY helped me, more than I thought it would actually :) and for the bass, I am actually playing it :) and on more thing, how does the harmony sound at 0:52? thanks!

The harmony is great! I also like the contrast when instruments come in / out, so it isn't the same set of instruments playing the entire way.

Even if it's MIDI bass, you should make it audible, BTW.

time to learn palm mutting strife

so basically, you just put the palm of your strumming hand on the strings, near the bridge, and you play. it is meant to be used on 6th, 5th and 4th string (most of the time). you should be able to alternate palm muted and normal playing, it's the basics of metal. do you see what I mean?
I suggest you to learn some songs from metal bands like metallica, megadeath, anthrax, ... it will be a good exercise. I can give you some guitar pro tabs to practice if you want, just drop me a pm.

hmmm, your tone need more treble imo

if you record with a clean tone and add distortion in via editing software it will most likely come out sounding a lot better
