Ninjaedit: Before your export, have a look at the score information (F5). Also you might want to change the header of your txt file. GP5's default layout is kindof meh.

yes tab and txt are both ascii files, just change the extension .tab to .txt and thats it.

i use tuxguitar and it annoys me with that too, but that's all you gotta do.
